GreyWanderer intro

Hi. First off, I do not have SSRI withdrawal, I'm in a relationship with someone who likely does. I'm looking for ideas and suggestions on how to help her recover.

My own experience: I took a single dose (ie one tablet only) of Lexapro in 2006 for anxiety. I became so anxious I discontinued it immediately. I believe that the one tablet has permanently made me slightly more anxious. Doctors and therapists I've seen dismiss this idea, but I know myself pretty well. I think the community here might understand how I feel.

I prefer not to give details on my partner's experience because it is personal to her - the one thing I will say is that her recovery has been slow, > 5 years. I'm interested in communicating with the community here to discuss non-drug solutions to the SSRI dilemma that I might suggest to her to try.

Hello GreyWanderer and welcome to SA,

it is very nice of you that you are doing so much to help your partner. Of course, it would be better if she would join and talk about her experience herself.

Given so few information that you can give, it is very difficult to say something helpful except for general information you can find on the forums here. You don't even mention what drug she is dealing with and what is her issue. Does she want to come off or did she already stop taking the drug? What symptoms is she experiencing? What does SSRI dilemma mean to you?

Until you provide us with more details, we can't say more except for very useful information in Symptoms and self-care section which gives alternatives to antidepressants.  http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/forum/8-symptoms-and-self-care/

You can find more information on tapering and quitting the drugs at http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/forum/14-tapering/.

Best,
