Can Cymbalta cause prostatitis?

Furiated

Recommended Posts

I was on Cymbalta 30mg for 2 months and I noticed testicular pain at the time being and lower sperm count. Today, semen comes out watery and the dull pain isn't gone, plus, whenever I get it, it also affects my whole right leg. (It's my right ball that hurts)

Can cymbalta cause such nerve pain? I also used to get nerve pains a few weeks in my arms and legs ago but they stopped.

Read my intro thread please on info on how I am doing now and what kind of treatment I follow.

I forgot to add. When I slightly press the aching one, it leaves me with a dull ache, when I do it in the healthy one, it doesn't hurt at all. Why does my semen come out watery? Can cymbalta affect sperm count and quality? :(

Sorry for the graphic details. I wish I can get some help.

  • Dropped Cymbalta 30mg Nov. 2013
  • Suffered what appeared to be withdrawal (PSSD, anger, emotional numbness)
  • Begun tapering from 30mg on 16/2/2014 by counting beads

Please see a medical specialist for the testicular pain. This may be a different medical problem.

On the other hand, Cymbalta was originally sold for urinary incontinence. You might be very sensitive to it -- particularly when you took the higher dose and it caused adverse effects -- and it may have affected your urinary system.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

I really hope it is another medical problem. Cause if it's from cymbalta, that's bad news. :(

By the way, I urinate normally.

You may wish to Google for "testicular pain" and see if you can find syndromes to match yours. I'm sure ultrasound does not identify all of them.

Nop. The results are all some statistics and even them report that out of the 40k something people that have taken the drug, only 15 have testicular pain. That's not significant imo.

It's significant to your situation!

I think you've found out your pain is an adverse effect of the drug. I suggest you contact your doctor to report this to the appropriate government agency.

I will once I am over with this so I can be 100% sure it was caused by it.

Sounds like a good question for Dr. Google. Please post your results here.

Nobody complains for prostatitis on google from cymbalta. Not only that, people say they got persribed cymbalta to alleviate pains of their already existing prostatitis.

this might be indeed something else.

http://www.drugs.com/pro/cymbalta.html

Urinary Hesitation and Retention

Cymbalta is in a class of drugs known to affect urethral resistance. If symptoms of urinary hesitation develop during treatment with Cymbalta, consideration should be given to the possibility that they might be drug-related.

In post marketing experience, cases of urinary retention have been observed. In some instances of urinary retention associated with duloxetine use, hospitalization and/or catheterization has been needed.

It does something down there. Talk to a urologist to find out what it is.
