PZS
Hello, I found this forum after seeing some very positive information added by Altostrata at RxISK on PSSD. I took sertraline (SSRI) for about a year. I had very high libido all my life (I am 46). It was so high to the point of being annoying many times. After quitting sertraline in Aug/14, my libido did not come back (as well as erections without manual stimulation). I am scheduled to see a Urologist specialized in sexual dysfunction soon. I would like to know if you have recommendations on what I should discuss on: 1) New research 2) New medications/treatments 3) Blood tests 3) Lifestyle This has created a significant toll in my life and I am looking forward to moving on. Thank you! PZS Jul/13 Started Sertraline 25 mg Dec/13 Low libido started bothering me Mar/13 Libido was almost non existent May/14 Added Wilbutrin for a few days (caused anxiety) Aug/14 Quit Sertraline over 2 weeks Dec/14 Still suffer from low libido Link to comment
Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted December 18, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 18, 2014 Welcome PZS, thanks for posting an introduction and for filling out your signature, that makes it easier to understand your situation. You can use this thread as your ongoing journal to track progress and communicate with the community, add to it whenever you want. I'm sorry you are experiencing PSSD, we have several members here who are suffering with the same. Have you noticed any improvement since quitting Sertraline in August? I can't answer your question, because I don't know too much about PSSD, apart from the fact that I probably have it as part of my own collection of withdrawal symptoms, but I'm female and not in a relationship at the moment, so its not a concern for me. This topic may give you some ideas though: Post-SSRI sexual dysfunction (PSSD) Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing. Petu. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one. My Introduction Thread Full Drug and Withdrawal History Brief Summary Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects 2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010 Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal) May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins. Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens. Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days. April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close. VIDEO: Where did the chemical imbalance theory come from?
