My Introduction Thread Full Drug and Withdrawal History Brief Summary Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects 2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010 Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal) May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins. Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens. Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days. ADropInTheOcean Posted January 2, 2015 Share Posted January 2, 2015 Wiki sais up to 18 months. Paxil is especially known to cause long term withdrawala. No one knows. On various meds since 2004(Luvox, Paxil-5 years, Zoloft, Trazodone, etc) for anxiety.CT Luvox 20th September 2013, started Klonopin 1mg (now on 0.25mg). Hellish depression, burning head, crying spells,extreme emotional rollercoaster, severe fibro-neuropathy like pains-never had any of this prior to meds. 31 months off and its worse and worse no life AT ALL. Wiki is written by the public so that might be just someone's experience. A slow taper reduces the risk of withdrawal. **I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge. Different drugs occasionally (mostly benzos) 1976 - 1981 (no problem) 1993 - 2002 in and out of hospital. every type of drug + ECT. Staring with seroxat 2002 effexor. Tapered March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads. Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013 Restarted taper Nov 2013 OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015 Tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014 Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg July 2017 30mg. May 15 2018 25mg Taking fish oil, magnesium, B12, folic acid, bilberry eyebright for eye pressure. I thought mine would be 6months ish but it ended up 6 years. It as either 6 years or never. I chose the 6 year. Any faster meant all night panic attacks or feeling like a mental case. I chose feeling fine for 6 years. You have to experiment then decide once you know your withdrawal pace. And yes, you've been screwed by the medical community. Sad but true. Took 11 months to kick Benzo? On Paxil for ten years 20mg? Got down to 7.5mg easily but hit a wall.Tried to lower it but kept hitting walls and updosing until..Now liquid Paxil4/3/2013 Took over 6 months to reach 7.2mg =3.6mL5/3/13 7.0 mg = 3.5 mL8/13. 3 mL or 6.6 mg7/5/2014 took a year to get to 6.1 but am stable there and still going.<p>12/2014 now at 6.05mL The good news, no or almost no withdrawal symptoms. Have MS now so every little drop is difficult with symptoms. Not fun! Stopped withdrawing at 6mg. Got too hard with MS and is taking way too long...years, over 10. I may not be here that long and didn't want to spend my entire life in withdrawal so gave up at 6mg. Got a compound pharmacy to make the exact amount. I have to squelch the feeling that "they" won! Mima Posted January 18, 2015 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Sadly I took 10 mg Paxil for over 10 years (prescribed by a GP for fibromyalgia) not knowing it was an antidepressant until years into it. When I wanted to get off my GP (2 of them) said to just stop taking it as I was taking such a small amount. I did and it was horrible. Since this was just a couple of years ago that might explain why I have panic attacks still though I thought it had been long enough to be out of my system. And just in Sept. 2014 went on Celexa. 20 mg a day. This time prescribed by a psychiatrist. He said for one year and then we would try tapering off. I do not see Celexa mentioned here so maybe I'm on the wrong site. A friend said Celexa is a SSDI so different. So any help would be appreciated.
