Lexapro solution is water solvable. There is no need to shake up the original solution before taking, but after dilution, you may want to shake well before each time to ensure the drug is evenly distributed throughout.

Thank you...

Would you use a syringe or drops? I I think syringe may be more accurate...

I dont understand why I have had more paresthesia today, it comes and goes and it seems there is no specific trigger to it...

I also had a strange tinggling sensation on my scalp last night, type of crawling feeling...i tried to ignore it...

Is there any logical explanation in these symptoms? Why do they decrease and increase?

I have a GP appointment on tuesday, I may talk to her about my right hand, I will ask her for the referral to physiotherapy, so far this seems to be most helpful approach for me...

I've been off Lexapro for 13 months, and I still wake up with slight paresthesia on the left side of my body. My scalp also feels a little numb often.

It has been slowly going away as I heal and get further away from these SSRIs.

When withdrawing from Prozac years ago, I had restless legs at night. That lasted a few years, then went away for good. That is a kind of akathisia; so paresthesia (pins and needles, numbness) and akathisia (urge to move) seem related, and both commonly associated with SSRI usage and discontinuation.

I've been wondering what is the exact cause of this paresthesia, what is the mechanism that SSRIs cause the numbness in the nervous system.

And like most other SSRI WD symptoms, they can be aggravated by stress and substances. But under normal day to day living, my experience is that these types of symptoms come and go as they please.

We've taken these medications to numb our brains, so when the rest of our body goes numb, to me it is no surprise.

All I know is that it is a very common side effect of these medications while taking them and while withdrawing from them.

Hell hath no fury as an SSRI scorned.....

Prozac:   20 mg 1996 – May 2003 CT to 0 mg; by Aug 03 CRASH then protracted WD 3 yrs

Effexor:  2005 few months CT to 0 mg; bad withdrawal.

Lexapro:  10 mg from 2009 – 2011; cut dose in half to:

Lexapro:    5 mg from 2011 – Feb. 2014; CT to 0 mg; 2 months of fatigue, followed by:
Aug - Oct 2014 Lexapro WD Insomnia Wave; sleeping very good from Nov 2014 - Nov 2015; broken sleep pattern Dec 2015 - Jan 2016

Dec 2014 - present: Brutal Lexapro WD ear ringing/head ringing/head pressure lasting for 14 months now.

Makes sense what you said. I guess, because my life is so stressful at present, it does not help...my nervous system is in a constant (almost) alert, as I have to carry on with driving, working, applying for new jobs, getting mail from my bank, dealing with my "almost" ex-husband (dont have money for divorce!), constantly worried if he would pay for the mortgage (he lives in my house...this is so complicated) etc.

So I am overstimulated almost constantly...even at the place I live at present...i have been here around 8 months, and I want to mive out...don't know if I will have enough money, so feeling trapped...

If the paresthesia is sign of WD it should go away...

But maybe this is related to the drug, then it will only go away when I will be drug free...

What is less damaging, to stay on 2.5mg for longer, but this means being still poisoned by the drug...

Or, decide for further tappering, but be exposed to WD?

If the symptom started after you changed the drug dosage, it is from the change in dosage. However, being an autonomic symptom -- your nervous system misbehaving -- it may not go away if you go back to the earlier dose.

The nervous system keeps changing. To find out what's causing what, keep track of daily symptom patterns with notes on paper.

On saturday I felt so good, hopeful...

Today woke up no wanting to be alive...a bit suicidal...

I had paresthesia today morning, pretty bad, additionally to pins and needles, burning sensation on my arms, neck and back...bit of pins and needels in my leg...kind of tinggling on my scalp...

I don't know what causes it...is this WD, or the drug itself? Maybe I should tapper faster, get rid of it???

I'm glad that you had a good day on Saturday Ikam.  That shows that you are getting better, there are many weird symptoms that crop up when tepring and it is hard to tell if it is from the drug or withdrawal. If you taper faster and it is withdrawal you will soon feel very much worse. I am sorry that you are suffering like this, it is an awful time for everyone and you have so much stress on top. I would continue to hold, as Alto said your nervous system is unstable, and holding gives it time to stabilise.  It really is good to keep a diary of sorts, quickly jot down what you eat and drink, when you take the  drugs. (I used to say meds but don't any more because that implies they are beneficial!) Many things can cause some strange symptoms, an odd can of coke when out with a friend once sent me off on a wave!

Hang in there and you will survive this. Waking every morning wanting to die has been me for so long now I can't even remember when it started.  After learning all I know from here I realised that the thoughts are not mine, they are the drugs and withdrawal, so I ignored them and didn't give them any more thought. The last few days I haven't had those thoughts even when in pain and unable to do anything or sleep. I am so glad that I finally kicked effexor, and you will get to the end of your taper too. It seems to go on forever but it does end, and you will be so glad that you held out.

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

Different drugs occasionally (mostly benzos) 1976 - 1981 (no problem)

1993 - 2002 in and out of hospital. every type of drug + ECT. Staring with seroxat

2002  effexor.

Tapered  March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads.

Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013

Restarted taper  Nov 2013

OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015    :D

Tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014

Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible

Hello, it is so important that you answered. I so often feel caught in between wanting to get rid of it and holiding for longer...

I think holding makes sense, but I don't want to be too long under this poison...

There are times I feel powerless and want to just give up...

It makes sense that other things, like coke may influence WD...

I recently started bee-pollen...

I have also started Permavite, as it helps with my digestive track...http://www.allergyresearchgroup.com/Perm-A-vite-Powder-300-Grams-10.6-oz.-p-188.html

But I also think, I am under longterm stress which seems to have no end...also I am menopausal...

Weekends are the most difficult, as I have too much time, and I am isolating a lot...

Sucidal thoughts have been with me since I was 14, but they are at increase again...yesterday I also fel like self harming...

I felt as if I failed as I felt so good on saturday...

The most difficult are paresthesias and pain, when I wake up I feel them, and then start feeling suicidal, as I don't know how to cope anymore...

I seem to be having more sensations, such as tinggling on my head, strange tinggling in my leg (but this leg is already "damaged" as I had a surgery two years ago and some smaller nerve endings are damaged)...

I also worry so much about my finances...i have never been in situation like this...my bank decreased my limits on card and accounf overdraft...this has made me feeling so insecure and trapped (as I want to move out back to london, I dislike living here so much...)...

thanks....

I have exactly the same paresthesia as you do...pins and needles on the left side of my body and scalp numbness mostly when lying down for bed. Goes away upon waking.

It is slowly subsiding the further away I get from this drug (I am off escitalopram for 14 months now).

This is classic, common side effect and withdrawal effect of SSRI use, especially common with escitalopram..

Know that once you are off the drug, this paresthesia should slowly subside as you heal.

It is strange sensation...and it is almost always in bed...

Oh, I want to be drug free asap...

Hi Ikam,

Thank you so much for stopping by my page. It's good to hear from you again.

I think that you are doing amazing considering the stress that you are under! Maybe you can't always see this yourself. Remember to give yourself full credit for every success, no matter how small.

As for the symptoms, there is often no rhyme or reason to them. Try to see them as evidence of your body healing. This often helps me to get through them. I hope that you have a peaceful Easter weekend.

Take care and be kind to yourself.

Got up around 3pm today...no, got up around 11am, ate my breakfast and went back to bed, as there was nothing to get up for...

And this is nothing new, as far as I remember sleeping has been my way of cutting from painful reality...

I used to induce sleeping by taking extra doxepin in the morning and then afternoon...i could sleep like this for whole weekend...

Long time ago I would use benzos or sleeping pills for this reason...

I would also drink to send me to sleep...

Today I need to face my emotions...i am sad and so lonely...there is nobody in my life...and I am fed up of contacting people to be less lonely...nobody contacts me...

I have so dark thoughts...i feel as if everything in my life has gotten into the point of END...

I live in a strange place, I hate it...i hate my view from the window...if I have to go out shopping I feel kind of pain...as I dislike this place so much...

I have job, but it is only temporary, what will happen next?...

I feel empty, lonely...so sleeping feels as the heaven...even with my strange dreams...

I was thinking today that even if my mind can create new ideas, my body will stop me, as I feel in pain everyday...

Long time ago, I thought I could kill myself...i am unable to do this...

I feel I have acheived nothing...

Dear Ikam

I'm so sorry you feel so bad..I'm feeling exactly the same or from your description anyway. You are still working this is an amazing achievement. I'm also feeling trapped..I'm quite alone as I've isolated for yrs and I want to move away I really really don't like where I grew up. But at this moment I have no means to do so. I think there must be many many people feeling like this..but we keep going..which is amazing really. It's a pain, if only we could meet each other on here in person it might be much more helpful and comforting.

I wish you much peace xxx hugs

2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare!

On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect.

Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan.

Nightmare that could have been avoided!

THANK YOU...Yes, we keep going...

I remember, you said before how difficult it is for you...I also have no means to move back to London. I did not realise that this part of UK will be so different...

I have been feeling so painfully lonely today...

I have been thinking about next decrease. I have been on 2.5mg for three months now. I seem to be quite stable...i have my usual sadness and emptiness over the weekends, but this seems to relate to being quite lonely, but also tired from week days...

My joints are still painful and I get some paresthesia, but not every morning...

Today I felt anxious in the morning, but this is not unusual for me...i got better when I got up from bed...

I have been busy at work today, back home around 9pm (started at 3pm)...

Ah, had a little accident, I was reversing at the oarking and somebody was reversing...i heard "bang", but nothing major...it happened so quickly...

I know I am in a period of life which is quite unsettled, but I cannot expect any better for at least half a year...

My next cut is going to be 10% of 2.5mg, I think I will do this over the weekend...

- 12.03.2021- doxepin- 50mg

- 6.11.2020- 75mg

- 16.10.2020- 100mg

- 30.09.2020- doxepin- 125mg

- May 2020, omeprazole 40mg switched to esomeprazole 20mg

- 2012 re-started Doxepin 75mg, evening. Increased to 150mg

- 2012, Atenolol 25mg, twice a day

- 2016, Low dose of HRT in evening, Sandrena and Utrogestan

- Long term of Nasal spray Otrivine

- 2012, PPI Omeprazole 40mg-evening

Good luck xx

I have been reading the leaflet, it looks that just one drop contains 1mg/ml...

I am thinking about

- getting 5drops

- dilute it to 10mg

- take out 5mg

- add more water to get 2.5mg

- and then take out around 0.25mg,

take the remaining liquid...

is this correct???

Hi Ikam,

I am so sorry to hear about your accident. Do you need to be checked over? Maybe call NHS Direct for a telephone consultation and if you get any new symptoms be aware of them in relation to your accident. It will be a shock to your system at the very least so try to be kind to yourself and get plenty of rest.

Maybe wait a couple of weeks before reducing again after this shock. I don't know about you but negative life events usually impact on me a short while after as in the moment adrenaline and the need to get through usually keeps you going. Just a thought. See how you are over the next few days.

I can't advise you on how to mix your medication for your next drop as I am not at this point yet. I'm sure that one of the moderators or someone else knowledgeable will pop along soon to advise you.

Take good care and if you need to talk any time you have my number.
