Cheeky: on Paxil for 23 years needing advice

That looks like the good side of normal to me.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

I’m I rating them by how difficult the day went , 10 is extremely bad and 0 is no symptoms except the morning aniexty.
sounds crazy I know but if I start to see more better days then I know I’m coming out of a wave.  Even in my last tapers I do the same thing on my calendar , so basically I get to see a  pattern .

yesterday was difficult and its so hard when you've had a good day before, it gives you a false sense of hope.  This last drop and all the things that have happened since has really taken its toll. My question is does this happen to people while tapering, can you find one drop much harder then another?

These are looking like normal day to day fluctuations. There are going to be good and bad days throughout a taper, it's just part of the beast. Each reduction is going to be an adventure unto it's self. With luck they will follow the same pattern so you can predict things, but frequently each reduction will be a little different.

@brassmonkey so once I get stable I can drop again? Or because this wave is a little harder then the others wait  it out for a couple of months to give my CNS a break

okay so an update

last two night sleeps have been great, bed at 10.30pm and wake at 7am, I think that since  I stopped vaping and wearing a nicotine patch I haven't had the need to wake up. Im proud of that.

I have still got the morning aniexty, but I've been going for a walk everyday

listening to Claire Weeks audio book and that helps me feel more positive. Hopefully Im recovering in the right direction.

Will my stability ever happen?  Nearly three weeks of this, there’s times I want to Increase my dose and be like I was, but in my heartI don’t want to give in to this , it’s just the unknowing of when I will get stable again . I’m sick off pretending to everyone I’m normal and trying to resume life like I’m not going through anything. I don’t want people to talk about me and think that sick mum that’s mentally  ill. The hardest thing to accept is lose of oneself to something I had no control over. Tonight I’m weepy and just wish I could turn back time. I don’t want my kids to see me like this and don’t want my elderly parents to worry about me . I feel like throwing all my meds in the bin and tough it out for years, so at least I’m med free and my body can repair itself. I’m sorry just finding this hard to accept.
Today was okay except very dizzi patches and felt like the floor was moving and tingling in my feet.
If I ever get drug free and survive, I’m going to write a book and get everyone who experienced this to write in it and send it to every PR person I know. These drugs should never be sold.

sorry 😭

I can really relate to when am I going to stabilize.  8 months of this is wearing me down.  I had a good cry of frustration and desperation this morning wondering again how I am going to get through this day.

I find myself taking W/D like it is a personal reflection of me, like I am a failure.  (is that kind of what you were talkin about). Of course this will make it harder to accept and harder to go through.  Even around my children.  They are all away from home.

How do I say this without sounding horrible,  I am sad and I hurt for you, but it is also helpful to see that someone is struggling like me, I am not alone in this pain.  Don't get me wrong being positive and time is the what will get us through this. And getting encouragement from other members, those who are still in the middle of the journey and those that have found success. But when people don't share their pain as well as their achievement I feel like what, am I doing wrong, how can I be struggling so much more than other people, maybe I am to weak a person to do this. 😞 So what I am saying is maybe we need to hear both to feel to feel connected to one another?

I also think it is good to let the pain and frustration out once in awhile.  Release it to make room for the positive to come in.

What's with this dizzy stuff.  I have been dizzy for days.  Maybe we are on the same wave?  I will pass the baton I as I pass by.

Hang in there, we are all in this together❤️

Hi @Cheeky

I hear you on the symptoms, it can be awful at times.

30 minutes ago, Cheeky said:

I am still getting this symptom from time to time as well.

Dont get discouraged, you will beat this, just give it time. You probably have heard it many times before, but patience and time is our best friend.
Stay determined and focused, don’t let those symptoms get the best of you. Your body is working on your behalf.

Hang in there 🙏

Prescribed Paxil 20 mg year 2000 for panic attacks.

Many attempts through out the years to quit.

2019 tapered from 20 mg to 10 mg. Got stuck there, decided to bridge with Fluoxetine.
2020 March off Fluoxetine

2020 Oct- nov started deteriorating, followed by severe crash. 2021 Reinstated fluoxetine by small amount, until I reach 9 mg

Tapering 10% every 4-6 weeks and longer holds if necessary

12/5 2021- 8.5 21/5 8.0 15/6 7.5 20/6 7.2 changed to liquid tapering 10/7  7.0  19/7 6.5

Hi @Cheeky

I hear you on the symptoms, it can be awful at times.

Thankyou so much for your encouraging words, it’s means so much to me. I suppose we will make mistakes in our taper and will suffer the consequences. I just have to take my taper mush slowly. I definitely rushed the last drop by way too much. I’m hanging on.
Thankyou xx

Okay update, I have been sleep better the last 2 nights and have had the morning aniexty, hoping the day willl go good . My baseline is overall better, I just seem to get the physical symptoms that persist, they come and go, numbness of hand tingling in my feet slight jittery feeling that comes and go, symptoms tend to chance every day. My mental well-being is more positive , I feel  I’m back to normal in my thinking and seeing things for what they are. I really hope I’m coming out of it.

@Cheeky I CT quit everything but Im a stuborn ole SOB so I just suffered through it!! But you know what? I made it!! And you will too!! I did have the typical waves and windows pattern but it took 6 months or so for me to get outta acute :( but I made it and so will you!! It took a very very long time and the healing was very non-linear but I stayed positive and refused to give up or give in!! If I healed so will you!!! You have got this!! I was really bad for a very long time but I refused to give up and 2 years later I feel amazing!! Just keep pushing through one day at a time!! For me the waves became less intense and the windows became sweeter!! I kept a journal so I could remember the windows which helped because we all know when we are in a wave all we remember is feeling bad!! You are gonna be ok!!
