I just wish I KNEW something, anything. Everything is such a guess. Is this the real me? Is this the best it's going to get? Will I get worse in the future? What phase of WD am I in? What can I do to help myself? Is God really listening to me, or is there a God? If there is a God who loves me, why is He letting me suffer so long? Does He ignore my begging? How can He be so heartless? I am so down. When I give up on God, I have nothing. Please ignore my post. I don't want to pull anyone into my pit of despair. God please help me!

January 2012 - Prescribed 900mg gabapentin and 30mg Norco for lower lumber spinal stenosis pain.

September 2013 - Spinal fusion surgery, 6 levels. Hospital ramped up meds 1500mg gabapentin, 100mg Norco, 80mg Oxycontin, 25mg Fentanyl patch.

January 2014 - Sever nausea daily and with back pain every 4 hours. 2 trips to ER. First endoscopy found ulcer. Treated with Sucralfate and PPI. Second endo in May found no ulcers. Doctors said it was the opiates causing the nausea. CT'd Oxycontin, Fentanyl patch.

July 2014 - Lost 48 lbs. due to not eating because of severe nausea. GP prescribed Prozac 20mg and Ativan 2mg prn. Tried for 4 days, quit. Two week followup GP said keep taking Prozac. 4 days, quit again. Ativan taken rarely prn for anxiety and appetite.

August 2014 - Went to detox. Off opiates. Still nauseous, helmet head, drugged feeling. Doctor CT'd gabapentin. Ended up in ER. Found 2 gallstones. Gabapentin reinstated at 900mg. Tried botched up and down taper to get off Gabapentin. No tapering advice from doctor. Said to just CT again.

September 2014 - Coded on table during gallbladder surgery. Developed liver biloma due to CPR by doctor. Had bile bulb inserted for 2 wks to drain.

October 2014 - Gallbladder removed. Still nauseous, 3am cortisol surging, drugged helmet head, vertigo, breathlessness, whooshing head, heart palps.

November 8th, 2014 - CT'd gabapentin suggested by family and 4 different doctors. Was told no withdrawal is associated with gabapentin. Have been in hell ever since. No windows, just one big tsunami every day with same symptoms for 4 months.

December 26, 2014 - Found SA. At least I know I'm not insane. My family thinks I'm doing this to myself. Akathesia has become unbearable.

March 10, 2015 - In absolute daily hell with no relief. Currently taking magnesium 200mg before bedtime.

God isnt ignoring you, trust me. He is teaching us to persevere. Its horrible and awful, he never said we need to enjoy ot or even be strong...only to lean on him and trust that this is for our good somehow. It sounds like you are in a depression phase...but they do pass. Ive been there. Brighter days will come!

2 Timothy 1-7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Effexor 75mg to 262.5mg 2005-2010 for post partum depression

Started having poop out mid 2010, also switched generic brands, then crashed in Dec 2010 (anxiety/ "terror", intense DR, anhedonia, suicidal ideation, chills, insomnia, horrible intrusive thoughts, disorientation, ect)
Rapid "tapered" from 262.5mg Effexor in 3 months

Tried Celexa,Cipralex, then Paxil to deal with wd(this switching made things worse and added akathesia)

Found online support and started tapering Paxil 7 months after quitting Effexor (at this point was having small windows).

Paxil taper: dropped 10% every 4-8 weeks

Year 1 October 2011 to Nov 2012 20mg to 10mg

Year 2 March 2013 to Feb 2014 10mg to 4mg

I'm having a really tough time when I read stories about someone suffering WD symptoms at six years off. I just can't have that happen to me! I won't make it!

I'm right there with you, Pug. There's got to be more than this.

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

Pug, I also had a tough weekend, maybe it has to do with the weather. We are both 4 months in withdrawal, maybe it is not enough time. You have to believe that it will change. So dont worry, make Opie something good to eat and you will feel better.

Hi Pug,

I often read your supportive posts around the site and here on your thread, but I don't have any idea what your medication history is, if you tapered or went CT, if you are still taking any drugs??  It sounds like you are struggling at the moment, but I don't know what advice to offer because I don't know your situation.

Please would you put your drug and withdrawal history in your signature.  Putting a short version of your drug and tapering history in your signature helps people understand your context, it appears below each of your posts.  Here are instructions for how to do it:

http://survivinganti...your-signature/

Here's how to add your signature from a phone or tablet:

http://survivinganti...nature/?p=84105

.... I just read back through your thread and see:   'In August 2014 CT gabapentin 1500mg'

How long had you been taking gabapentin for?

and:

Had Spinal fusion surgery September 2013. Hospital put me on all kinds of meds. CT off all but gab and norco. Went to detox facility August 2014 to get off opiates.

If you could put the details of your drug history in your signature it would help us to help you.

I'm not a doctor.  My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one.

My Introduction Thread

Full Drug and Withdrawal History

Brief Summary

Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects

2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010

Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal

DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms

Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal)

May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins.

Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes

Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine

Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D

June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens.

Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered

Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days.

April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close.

Pugknows I really enjoy your humour. I've read little bits you write on the forum and your very funny :)

2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare!

On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect.

Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan.

Nightmare that could have been avoided!

Hi Pug, we are both suffering. But let us hope that our suffering has an end and than we can enjoy everything we still want to do on this world. I can imgaine, also for you, that more than one year, it would not take. I surely hope so! And then you can go visiting your friends and drinking champaigne somewhere in the tropical land and so on. Try to imagine these things and you will feel better. We have so much before us. Please only believe in this.

Yes, Pug someday not too far off for you hopefully :). We will all get out of this at sometime with maybe an easier ride than people who have never experienced this and come out the other end. Xx

(Retired)

That's ok, Pug -

Just, next time, if you disagree with me, please go to my thread and let me know there -

We shouldn't argue on other people's threads, that's why I came here to talk to you, since you addressed me directly on someone else's thread -

In answer to what you said to me, here is my reply to you:

Just because others may take years to recover, doesn't mean it will take you that long.

Someone stuck in two years of brutal withdrawal needs to be reminded that others have recovered after three or four years.

That is how they get hope. My only motive for posting on that thread was to try to give hope.

This SSRI withdrawal is a tough business. People often lose hope, that's common and part of the process.

They continue their fight and regain hope.

We are all on edge right now. If we all can remember that, we can better be of help to ourselves and others.

It's rough for the younger people, because they have their whole lives ahead of them. From a different viewpoint, I am 60 years old, and the thought that recovery from this might take several years is terrifying for me. The akathisia is especially difficult--physically and psychologically. This is something not everyone has, but those who do know how horrific it is--no matter what age you are. I have been through 6 months of this nonstop at this point. My rational self might be able to see 3-4 years down the road, but there is nothing rational about those who have been suffering the psychological effects of akathisia for months on end. It's difficult to think of it going on that much longer, so I can understand both viewpoints. I think all any of us want is encouragement, hope, and support. Everyone deserves that.

Wise words Luv and you are right.  I cannot even think about being in pain for another month let alone another year.  We all need hope and encouragement and to know that someone out there can relate and cares.  I don't think I am rational minded at this point either.

Pug, hang in there. I've been thinking about you all day. I saw you were having a rough one earlier. I felt really sad for you and my heart doors nearly blew off their hinges (did I just say that? Well, it's true). I've been sending a lot of positive energy your way. Be gentle with yourself. You know a ton of people care for you here. And you always pay back that care, with interest accrued. You've a loving heart within you that withdrawal cannot touch. You are going to be solid in time. My hope is soon, and that's where I'll focus my good wishes for you. Have a tranquil evening.
