AmyK: Intro about myself

Hi, Amy.

Im sorry to hear you are having a hard time with the tapering. The last part is the hardest, but dont forget there is a huge reward waiting for you. I was just listening to this song from Leonard cohen: "There is a crack in everything, thats how the light gets in". Keep fatih and remember: turtles win the race. You have gone through so much already and are more prepared than you think for the fnal push. When the time is right, you will blast through that wall!

Sending you warm thoughts and wishes.

Hugs!

Sept 2015: 5 mg Cipralex for 3 weeks. Lots of side effects. Reduced to 2.5 mg for 2 weeks. Experiencing withdrawal and side effects still after dose reduction. Quit after almost 4 weeks on 2.5 mg because of adverse effects. Experiencing withdrawal symptoms still. Reinstating 1mg after 3 weeks. Reduced to 0.50 after 2 days due to sensitive reaction (dysautonomia) and trip to ER. January 2016: After 14 months of tapering from 0.5 mg im now down to 0.08mg. Planing on one more drop before 4-8 weeks healing, then jump to zero. 14.03.17: Lexapro free!

Dear friends, thankyou so much for all your replies. I had a window yesterday evening and feel so much better today. I feel silly today for expressing myself when I feel so distressed and in despair. But it is so real, yet it's neuroanxiety. This is what the drug do to us.

Waves and windows. Still it's important to note the good days too.

I took a (very short!) swim today in a nearby lake!

All my tulips are in full bloom.

I will appreciate life so much more after this.

I am so happy to have this group and all of you.

Love, Amy

Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.

((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks. The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg. Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Wonderful news, Amy! I can SEE your lifted spirit and smile and happiness!

Don't ever feel bad about expressing the despair. You will see how crazy I am from my post yesterday and today. Thankfully we all know it's these stupid drugs!

Many big hugs!

Amy, how are you doing?

Is the daylight lasting really late where you are?

With the solstice (June 21) approaching we are having light up to about 10:00 in Minnesota. :)

2020: After 18+ years (entire adult life) on Paxil, a dangerous doctor-led "taper" in 2015, and four years tapering off the last 1 mg thanks to SA and the Brassmonkey slide,

I AM COMPLETELY FREE OF PAXIL! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Forever.

2021: Began conservative, proper, CNS-respecting taper of Zoloft, led by the only expert on me -- me. Making own liquid. 5-10% plus holds.

2022: Holding on Zoloft for now. Current dose 47 mg. Hanging in, hanging on. Severe protracted PAWS, windows and waves. While I may not be doing "a lot" by outside standards, things are graaaaadually getting better

Thankyou so much, Andy!

I actually made a mistake on friday. I took a too big dose. 0.03 mg instead of the "nothing" I take (less then 0.00065). I reacted with crazy restlessness, sweating, burning skin. It was awful. Slept lightly and scared. Then I just thought "this is it, I cant put this in my mouth anymore". I took my normal dose to be able to cope with my son's birthday, that was my last dose.

I have been ok. It feels like a cut, but better. Lighter. Maybe it will get worse. I will see. I hope I can handle it.

If my mother were still alive and reading your story, Amy, she'd sing you the song she sang to us as kids when we were upset over something. She was from Northern England and survived the Depression and WWII, and made a life for herself in the U.S., far from family and friends. The song has sentimental value for me.

Good to hear you've "jumped." I plan to be doing the same within the year. Please keep us posted on how you're feeling/doing. From what I've read of your posts, I'm sure you'll do well.

"When you walk through a storm,

hold your head up high,

and don't be afraid of the dark.

At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

I had tried and failed to stop Paxil several times (though never using a long, slow taper) and thought Celexa might be easier, so I shifted to Celexa in 2012. In August of 2014 I began a serious tapered withdrawal from Celexa (20 mg.), making monthly drops, mostly 10% of the last dose, sometimes more, sometimes less. In July of 2016 I took an early retirement at 59 in large part because of my intense withdrawal symptoms.

Three years and eight months after beginning my taper, I stopped taking Celexa on 5/12/18.

I am currently in recovery and I am very slowly getting better. I still have waves and some are quite bad. But overall the trend is toward healing.

It's about the same here in Stockholm, SkyBlue. Around 10:30. On friday we are going to celebrate Midsummer eve. Singing and dancing around a pole of flowers. Very foolish, yes! :D We eat herring, new potatoes and strawberries.

Amy, CONGRATULATIONS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I am so, so happy for you. You deserve this freedom!!!!! That is absolutely fantastic. Perfect timing for a celebration!

Sounds so fun, the Midsummer eve. It's not foolish; it's wonderful! <3 <3

Thankyou so much, everybody! I couldn't have done it without the wonderful and kind support from this forum (and the former one I - and Tom- were on, Pp).

It has been a very long exhausting journey. I am not out of the woods yet, but I already feel life spirit is lifting. There are so many beautiful things to look forward too. And right now the nature is in it's prime here in Sweden. I am sitting in the sun in my garden and enjoying it.

Congratulations, Amy!! I don't stop by here much anymore, but I was so thrilled to see this! As someone else said, you give me hope and inspiration. Happy Summer Solstice to you! What an auspicious day for this transition into a beautiful drug-free life. Many hugs and thanks to you!

Trying to get off Paxil since 2007. Was tapering by 0.1 mg every 4-5 weeks. Had awful crash in November 2015 at .5 mg; updosed gradually to 2 mg.

Doing better and tapering again, much slower this time. 2016: Dropped from 2 mg to 1.62 mg. 2017: 1.62 mg to 1.2 mg. 2018: 1.2 mg to .76 mg. 2019: .76 mg to .56 mg. 2020: .56 mg to .33 mg. 2021: .33 mg to .13 mg. 2022: .13 mg to .03 mg. 6/12/23 .002 mg. OFF PAXIL 9/4/23

Started Klonopin in November 2015 to deal with crash. 1/10/16 started milk titration taper from .5 mg. Finished taper 12/6/17. Still take Klonopin for agoraphobia 2 - 3 times a week.

Wonderful news Amy. Hoping that your residual symptoms disappear quickly. To modify an Irish saying,

May the road of radiant vitality rise up to meet you and may the wind of healing be always at your back.

Scally: I love that! How wonderful and appropriate.

Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014

Psych Drug - free since May 2014

Started on 25 mg Zoloft in March 2011 due to stressrelated tinnitus that gave me panicattacks. Had a terrible reaction to Zoloft from start, but was told to "hold on". After four months I was stuck. Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.
