Pugknows
Hi Dave. I can definitely relate to what everybody has already said. Months 1-3, I thought was bad, until I hit months 4-8. Brutal. No windows. I'm coming up on month 9. Let's hope it starts to get better. Hang on buddy. Love Pug. xoxo January 2012 - Prescribed 900mg gabapentin and 30mg Norco for lower lumber spinal stenosis pain. September 2013 - Spinal fusion surgery, 6 levels. Hospital ramped up meds 1500mg gabapentin, 100mg Norco, 80mg Oxycontin, 25mg Fentanyl patch. January 2014 - Sever nausea daily and with back pain every 4 hours. 2 trips to ER. July 2014 - Lost 48 lbs. due to not eating because of severe nausea. GP prescribed Prozac 20mg and Ativan 2mg prn. Tried for 4 days, quit. Still nauseous, helmet head, drugged feeling. Doctor CT'd gabapentin. Ended up in ER. Found 2 gallstones. Gabapentin reinstated at 900mg. Tried botched up and down taper to get off Gabapentin. Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted June 27, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted June 27, 2015 Thanks for updating Dave, Its not unusual for someone to still be having symptoms at 8 months out, especially if you took these drugs long term and didn't taper properly. The good news is that you will recover, but its impossible to know how long it will take because everyone is different. You might have already seen it, but here is our windows and waves topic: The Windows and Waves Pattern of Recovery I'm still recovering and whenever I go into a wave I get disheartened and feel like no recovery is happening, I think we are all like this. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one. My Introduction Thread Full Drug and Withdrawal History Brief Summary Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects 2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010 Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal) May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins. Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens. Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days. April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close. VIDEO: Where did the chemical imbalance theory come from? Pugknows
Dave, my only symptoms are psychological.... crushing cortisol surges, insomnia, anxiety, nightmares, terror, panic attacks, agoraphobia, akathisia. I saw your question about psych versus physical symptoms and thought I'd throw in my two cents worth. I don't have all the physical symptoms like some others do. Tending to this anxiety is a full time job. Love, Pug. January 2012 - Prescribed 900mg gabapentin and 30mg Norco for lower lumber spinal stenosis pain. Daveguy2015
Thanks for the information guys. Does anyone know when people generally recover and start to feel better and more confident? Like at what month. I feel like I should be getting on more stable ground since I've been off the meds for 8 months already. Things are starting to get confusing in the sense that how do I know this state that I'm in is still the WD? Also how come there is not many official sources of information when you google SSRI protracted withdrawal? If there were more sources my feelings would be more validated. Because now sometimes I think, are all these symptoms just in my head..... Today I feel slightly better but my symptoms wax and wane. My symptoms now are slightly low mood, and ruminating a lot about my symptoms. Plus I have this new thing where it seems like I have adrenaline in my nerves and sometimes they twitch. Does anyone know what this is? So now all in all one hour I feel like I'm doing good but then the next I feel WD again.
