There will be future treatments for depression which may be a wonder. Science is advancing. Depression will be eventually be able to be kept in check completely.

I believe since depression is a natural human mood, there are always going to be people that are hit with overwhelming depression and will struggle with it - no matter what the treatment is.

Trying to "cure" depression completely in society is like trying to remove part of what it means to be human - a very important part.

And after what psychiatric drugs have done to so many people, I would absolutely never take any sort of man made chemical treatment for depression ever again.

- Escitalopram 10mg from ages 15 - 21

- Severe crash after 4 month taper to 0

- Reinstated, stabilized, slowly tapering.

I have someone close to me who told me they got into a ketamine trial sounding like they had just bought tickets to an amusement park.

The marketing of esketamine resembles the full court press that was put on in the introduction of Prozac.  The regulators are asleep at the switch in places like the UK by allowing it to be sold to desperate patients. The good news is that the National Health Service there has said it's not worth the candle so it will not see wide adoption unless the drug companies' lobbying can overcome the two refusals so far.

You can tell it's all about the money because ketamine should have the same benefit claimed by esketamine.  Ketamine is around $25 per dose.

Stay very far away.  Psychiatry will come to regret supporting esketamine in the same way chronic pain doctors regret how they eagerly swallowed the oxycontin sales pitch.

infusion

I tried Ketamine about 6 months into WD and I believe it made my symptoms worse and probably why I have been sick for so long. I remember the day ollowing a treatment I would be soon sick,, and couldn't move from bed. But the doctor convinced me to keep trying and it didn't help.  I am now a little over 4 years out and doing much better, still have some WD symptoms, but I'm starting to live life again, praise God.

This is how I look at it: our illness/CNS damage was caused by drugs why would we treat drug injury with drugs that can cause more injury? If you burned yourself would you treat your burn with fire?
