Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 5, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 5, 2016 Thanks Flowers! The dog is mine , the house is my cousins. Huge old refurbished terrace. Well , it's 4:50am and I've been up since 3. I think I did well to sleep from 11:30 till 3. The night before was the worst in ages - 2 micro-sleeps between 10:30 and midnight , then up with my whole body in an achy pain for hours. Had a magnesium bath around 2 which helped alot . . . realized I hadn't had any mag. during the day due to running out. Tonight I had a mag. bath at 10pm , and slept very well. I must do that more often. This sleep disturbance is no doubt a result of my decrease 2 weeks ago , so I'm okay with that. No other notable symptoms. Talked to my endocrinologist today about LDN therapy and he's going to monitor my thyroid levels (Hashimotos). It's poured with rain here every day since new year , so I haven't been able to go to the beach yet for ManyMoreTodays. The weather forecast is grim for the next week. So much for El Nino and the long hot summer 1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg 2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Care taken over by Dr Lucire in March 2013 , decreased last 30mg at 2mg per week over 3 months. July 21 , 2013- last dose of Cymbalta Protracted withdrawal syndrome kicked in badly Jan.2014 Unrelenting akathisia until May 2014. Voluntary hosp. admission. Cocktail of Seroquel, Ativan and mirtazapine and I was well enough to go home after 14 days. Stopped all hosp. meds in next few months. July 2014 felt v.depressed - couldn't stop crying. Started pristiq 50mg. Felt improvement within days and continued to improve, so stayed on 50mg for 8 months. Began taper 28 Feb. 2015. Pristiq 50mg down to 45mg. Had one month of w/d symptoms. Started CES therapy in March. No w/d symptoms down to 30mg. October 2015 , taking 25mg Pristiq. Capsules compounded with slow-release additive. March 2016 , 21mg Link to comment
Flowers
Hi Fresh thanks for stopping by my thread. I replied to you on there before I read your latest post. So sorry you are not getting much sleep and hope this is temporary and your body will soon adjust to the recent decrease. Can't believe you are having so much rain at this time of year. Hope the sun comes out for you soon so you can go to the beach. The sea air will help you sleep I think. Give your sweet dog a big hug from me. xxxxx 15 yrs on 20 to 30 mgs CITALOPRAM. URGENT REQUEST Please consider submitting for the petition on Prescribed Drug Dependence and Withdrawal currently awaiting its third consideration at the Scottish Parliament. You don't even have to be from Scotland. By clicking on the link below you can read some of the previous submissions but be warned many of them are quite harrowing. http://www.parliament.scot/GettingInvolved/Petitions/PE01651 Please tell them about your problems taking and withdrawing from antidepressants and/or benzos. Send by email to petitions@parliament.scot and quote PE01651 in the subject heading. Keep to a maximum of 3 sides of A4 and you can't name for legal reasons any doctor you have consulted. Tell them if you wish to remain anonymous. We need the numbers to help convince the committee members we are not isolated cases. You have until mid February. Thank you Recovering paxil addict None of the published articles shed light on what ssri's ... actually do or what their hazards might be. Healy 2013. This is so true, with anything you get on these drugs, dependance, tapering, withdrawal symptoms, side effects, just silent. And if there is something mentioned then their is a serious disconnect between what is said and reality! "Every time I read of a multi-person shooting, I always presume that person had just started a SSRI or had just stopped." Dr Mosher. Me too! Over two decades later, the number of antidepressant prescriptions a year is slightly more than the number of people in the Western world. Most (nine out of 10) prescriptions are for patients who faced difficulties on stopping, equating to about a tenth of the population. These patients are often advised to continue treatment because their difficulties indicate they need ongoing treatment, just as a person with diabetes needs insulin. Healy 2015 I believe the ssri era will soon stand as one of the most shameful in the history of medicine. Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 7, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 7, 2016 Time for a musical interlude , inspired by Ray Colombus (thanks to nz for getting me in the mood) Goes to the tune of Elvis' Heartbreak Hotel. Well since my AD's left me , And I went through all kinds of hell , I focussed on nutrition when I decide to get well And it's so simple baby , it's just so simple And yet so complex , I could cry Magnesium was the starter - used to get it from our food But the pesticides have robbed it from our soil and that's no good Our cells need it to function When it's low then we feel bad So drink it , spray it , soak in it and you'll be really glad Cause it's so simple baby , it's just so simple And yet so complex , I could cry So then I looked at fish oil King of omega 3's The EPA and DHA is what our bodies need They bring down inflammation , help all our cells renew So get into that fish oil if you know what's good for you Cause it's so simple baby , it's just so simple And yet so complex , I could cry Organic Sulphur crystals Are soothing for my joints They flush your cells with oxygen and that's part of the point And nuts and seeds and coconut oil Are all part of the plan Cause I want to get well asap, maybe then I'll land a man See how it's simple baby , it's pretty simple And yet so complex , I could cry 1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg 2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 7, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 7, 2016 Ha Ha , sorry. This is the last song I wrote , post 87. Change ear-worms , lol. I might put a link into my sig. My Drug History in Song: to the tune of "Modern Major General" From Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado. I started off my journey with Pertofran then Prothiaden I'd really felt depressed and I just wanted to be fine again I took the pills , I went to work ,I focussed on my life and then I stopped the pills , became depressed , so back to the Prothiaden. The doc. suggested Prozac with a little bit of Frisium It wasn't good , I got too thin with agitation maximum It made me hyper-sexual (a field in which I did excel) But overall it was no fun, so ceased Prozac and Frisium. Well then I started Zoloft and I needed the Ranitidine Trigeminal neuralgia prompted me to carbamazepine One dose gave me an allergy , a rash that crossed my whole body So on to Gabapentin which I really felt was fine for me. Effexor for a few years then I changed to Escitalpram With help from my dear doctor in the form of the Temazepam Then Epilim did not work out , my hair grew thin and I grew stout Six years on forty Lexapro - my life was stuffed - a pharma sham. A quick stint on Moclobemide was something that I hadn't tried It didn't help , I wasn't well. Diazepam was by my side So then I tried Duloxetine for two more years it was my scene Just trying to survive the time was tough , I felt I had to hide. I tapered the Cymbalta very badly - I did a big drop One twenty down to thirty quite by accident, and quite a shock But I was tough, I'd sit it out , I tapered off and waited 'round But I got much too sick and so to hospital I had to pop. Well they were just not shy about this modern poly-pharmacy Mirtazapine , lorazepam were seen to be what's good for me Olanzapine was tried OH MY I smashed a chair and didn't mind Quetiapine was next and it did seem to help what ailed me. Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 13, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 13, 2016 Each night since Jan.6 (the very bad night) I've had a 10 minute magnesium bath in the evening. And each night my sleep has improved - except for the 11th when I had no mag. bath. My body is clearly craving magnesium. On the good nights , I've woken warm/hot but not sweaty , and am starting to dream again. I did the classic thing we advise not to do: I started the magnesium baths at the same time as black kohosh (brand name remifemin) for the night sweats. So I don't know which is helping , but am not stopping either for the moment. Until a month ago I didn't take any supplements at all. Now I'm turning into JanCarol (lol). This is my current regime , and I'm not adding anything new for quite a while. A.M. - eutroxig (thyroid) - remifemin - organic sulphur crystals (msm) - 2 drops essential lemon oil Day: - Vitamin E cap. - fish oil cap. - zinc - magnesium - bicarb.soda (for alkalinity) P.M. - fish oil cap. - remifemin - multivitamin - pristiq 22.5mg Try to include: flaxseed oil , hemp oil , himalayan salt sole , beef gelatin and apple cider vinegar each day. I feel like I'm on summer holidays. Except that I don't have a job to be on holidays from , I guess I am! Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 28, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 28, 2016 It's been a very challenging week in my head , but overall things continue to go embarrassingly well. I have to say , I sometimes feel bad writing that I'm doing well when so many here are suffering , but I certainly did do my share of that. And now I'm healing. Six months ago I was connected to almost nothing , and my job was to construct a life. I'm doing it. Yesterday I went out to lunch with my 91yo aunt (who's more active than me !) Last night I went to a meeting to pressure local council for dog access to one of the local beaches , tonight is Campfire Musicians (acoustic guitar and karaoke at the beach), tomorrow Squishy Faces , new dog playgroup , Sunday , a birthday lunch , Monday night , Social Bootcamp (followed by drinks) with the gal from the health food store. Meetings next week to finish medico-legal report for my court case. My lawyer phoned me this week and he's keen to have me meet his barrister. That excites me! I popped into a shop last weekend and bought new bathers and a dress. Brand new , lol. My sleep has been out the window since learning of Blue's death. I can only hope she has the peace she was desperate for. Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 29, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 29, 2016 Thankyou Andy and Karen. It feels wonderful to be able to do things most people take for granted. I'm not used to seeing myself like that - it's still like a surprise for me each time an arrangement is a success. And even if I don't actually get to everything ( I'm already worried I may be too worn out by Monday to even go to Social Bootcamp) , well that's okay too. I'm learning my new limits with each attempt. Off to the chemist today to get my accoutrements for LDN therapy. Distilled water , glass bottle/jar , syringe. I'm going to make the solution 1mg LDN to 20mls of water , so each dose will be 10mls. 1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg 2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted January 30, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 30, 2016 It's been a very challenging week in my head , but overall things continue to go embarrassingly well. Love and blessings to anyone reading this , xxx Yes, do tell. I don't mind you telling some fun and improvement status at all. Campfire musicians sounded kind of good........on the beach..........just plain singing and acoustic guitars. "New bathers?"...........swimming suit? bathing suit? flippers? I want to learn more Aussie lingo. Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks. Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988. In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm. Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time). 5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014) 12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs. My last psycho med ever! Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to 2016 Dec 16, medication free!! Longer signature post here, with current supplements. Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016. And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed. Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022. Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜 None of my posts are intended as medical advice. Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 30, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 30, 2016 Okey Dokey , so bathers = swimmers = togs = cozzies = bikini = speedos (for guys). The Campfire musicians is on the boardwalk / promenade opposite the ocean , but there's actually no campfire involved. Last night was drumming , alternate weeks are singing/acoustic guitar. Some dancing , handstands , percussion instruments and it was so lovely. We drew in a few passers-by , and it was relaxed and friendly. My new Friday night activity. Social Boot Camp is a fun-fitness bootcamp-style work-out in a local park at 7pm , followed by drinks at a pub. It appealed to me because 1. it costs only $5 2. the money is donated to charity 3. you go out afterwards in your gym clothes , no changing (and I look cute in lycra) and 3. my dog can come with me I'm under no illusions that I'll be able to keep up. It may just be embarrassing , but I'll give it a fair dinkum , dinky-di crack (Aussie term?). There's a website here called www.meetup.com , and you find groups in your local area for just about any interest you can imagine. I always knew there were things going on in Sydney , I just never was really able to join in. This is Dalsaan's "100 little things" in action. The pharmacist was very helpful , and wrote me a conversion table so I'll take 2mls of medicine instead of 10mls. Very sensible. New addition to my coffee - grass-fed butter (the cows , not the grass). Organic milk , coconut oil , instant Nescafe and butter , mmmm yummm. Off to Bondi Squishy-Faces now , our new small-dog playgroup. Meet some more new folks. This is how friendships start , by getting out of the house . 1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg 2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Moderator Emeritus Songbird Posted January 30, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 30, 2016 Okey Dokey , so bathers = swimmers = togs = cozzies = bikini = speedos (for guys). While Kiwis and Aussies share a lot of slang words, we don't usually say "bathers" or "swimmers" here, it's usually just "togs", or sometimes "swimsuit". I don't think I should say what speedos are called over here. 2001–2002 paroxetine 2003 citalopram 2004-2008 paroxetine (various failed tapers) 2008 paroxetine slow taper down to 2016 Aug off paroxetine2016 citalopram May 20mg Oct 15mg … slow taper down2018 citalopram 13 Feb 4.6mg 15 Mar 4.4mg 29 Apr 4.2mg 6 Jul 4.1mg 17 Aug 4.0mg 18 Nov 3.8mg 2019 15 Mar 3.6mg 21 May 3.4mg 26 Dec 3.2mg 2020 19 Feb 3.0mg 19 Jul 2.9mg 16 Sep 2.8mg 25 Oct 2.7mg 23 Oct 2.6mg 24 Dec 2.5mg 2021 29 Aug 2.4mg 15 Nov 2.3mg Link to comment
Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted January 30, 2016 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 30, 2016 Um , budgie-smugglers? They're called that here. I had a fascinating discussion recently.with a 3 year old , daughter of a gorgeous Kiwi couple who live in my apartment complex We were at the pool , and she was asking why I wear "boob-togs". Just hilarious. The Squishy Face Dog Group wasn't for us. Cute British bulldogs , but the meet-up was sitting around talking and drinking beer. The point is I went , I wasn't nervous , nothing bad happened , and I walk away just a teensy bit more confident.
