Faithbarelysurviving: Too damaged?

I am not sure if that is too much or not maybe 10% which would be 2mg.

One thing I have learned about the hosp some of them at least now have a drug interaction program... that is one thing we don't have access to... which I would like to get a look at.  Too bad we don't know a doctor with access who could sneak in and check.

I am sure Alto will be by to give her opinion on this please wait for her.

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Alto will hopefully chime in, but a quick look at the drug interactions looks like the Buspar is increasing the blood levels and/or action of several drugs, so when you reduce Buspar, it is like shaving a little off most everything. So that makes it very hard, and very helpful, if you can just hold steady and pull it off. Hopefully Alto can confirm or correct that theory.

So Buspar

THank you

So it would be another 1/4 of mg down. It is very very hard for me to calculate anything, or to explain anything, my brain is not functioning ...maybe dementia or retardedness already

Still wait and see what Alto says ... and I am not sure there is not a word confusion here as both drugs are close in spelling... you may want to check Me's response for clarity...

Your not the first one to show up on a board like this completely broken... I was broken too... and there are many many others that is the nature of these sites... don't feel bad about it many of us have been there too.

I caution you to wait for Alto there is a reason I pass all tapering and drug questions off to her ... she knows and has the brain for it not all of us have that.

I wish you peace

I am not sure on any taper stuff as I have never had a successful taper but I know how to hold on like nobodies business how to fight back... how to endure... what you do.. this I know.

However I can't help but learn some things after so many years and I think doing a = taper so each dose is the same is part of this... I see your thinking of cutting an already cut dose rather then = our the doses... you may have a good reason for doing this one is bed time maybe and it helps you sleep... still

WAIT FOR ALTO :)

yes i am a broken record

I am decreasing the buspirone by 1/4th of 5 mg

Faith, we discussed cutting that 5mg tablet into 8 pieces and reducing by 1/8 of a tablet.

This means cut the tablet into quarters and then cut each quarter in half. The best way to cut a quarter of a tablet in half is to cut it from the side rather than from the top. Like a wedge of layer cake -- cut between the layers.

Take the larger piece and put the smaller piece into a bottle to use later.

Can you do this?

Altostrata, the Buspirone pill is of 10 mg. So i take 1 whole pill at 5pm.

I also take buspirone in the morning. Since January i think, i do not remember anything at all, I divided the 10 mg pill in the morning into 8 just like you were saying ( cut it in half which means 2x5mg; i took one half ( meaning 5mg) and cut it in 4 pieces. I took out one piece and stayed like that for maybe a mth or more, i don t know how long, then I took out another piece and waited again but I don't onow for how long.....and then I took out the 3rd piece and waited for maybe more than a mth, again I don t know ....and the withdrawals got me more and more impaired. I wrote that on June 7th I went back a piece so I currently take 10mg at 5 pm + 5mg (half of the 10 mg pill) and a half (2 pieces) in the morning. I hope it makes sense now....i have hige difficulty with my thinking, almost can t think at all, so it is easy to confuse you. Let me know if you understood please.

And now I was wondering if I should go back and cut again that one piece....from the morning dose still.

Welcome. Faith.

I put the antidepressants in bold:

bupropion 150 mg in the morning,

clonazepam 1 mg three times per day,

baclofen 10 mg 3 times per day,

buspar 10mg at dinner, 6.2mg in the morning,

Escitalopram 15 mg morning

Tegretol twice a day x 100mg

Trazadone 50 mg

Propranolol 20 mg twice a day

....

If you don't want to reduce the Buspar, how about reducing the bupropion?

You'd do it the same way: Cut the tablet into quarters. Cut one quarter into eighths. Take the larger eighth and put the smaller one in a container.

The bupropion pill is round and hard to cut. I can cut it in 4 and maybe each quarter in half ( from the side like you said but it would not be even). Also is XL extended release, is that ok to be cut?

All of the drugs are bad, they are interacting with each other. In combination, they all have bad side effects. You are taking so many drugs, it's impossible to tell which is causing what symptoms. It's impossible to tell what will happen if you reduce any one of them.

But these drugs are endangering your health and you need to minimize them. You can taper them yourself or go to the hospital and hope for the best.

Read this post and PRINT IT OUT:

....You will see that 5 of these interactions are major, and the rest of them are also serious!

Here is what drugs.com said:

Interactions between your selected drugs

interaction-3-big.png trazodone ↔ escitalopram

Applies to: trazodone, escitalopram

Using escitalopram together with traZODone can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe cases may result in coma and even death. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms during treatment. In addition, combining these medications can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening, although it is a relatively rare side effect. You may be more susceptible if you have a heart condition called congenital long QT syndrome, other cardiac diseases, conduction abnormalities, or electrolyte disturbances (for example, magnesium or potassium loss due to severe or prolonged diarrhea or vomiting). Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations during treatment with these medications, whether together or alone. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Applies to: BuSpar (buspirone), trazodone

Using busPIRone together with traZODone can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Applies to: bupropion, escitalopram

Talk to your doctor before using buPROPion together with escitalopram. Combining these medications may increase the risk of seizures, which may occur rarely with either medication. In addition, buPROPion can increase the blood levels of escitalopram, which may increase other side effects. You may be more likely to experience seizures with these medications if you are elderly, undergoing alcohol or drug withdrawal, have a history of seizures, or have a condition affecting the central nervous system such as a brain tumor or head trauma. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol during treatment. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

That was the major ones (I'm having trouble posting all these, there are so many!)  Here are the "moderate" ones  (I lost the pictures - they are all WARNING: Moderate!):

propranolol ↔ bupropion

Applies to: Inderal (propranolol), bupropion

BuPROPion may increase the blood levels and effects of propranolol. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if you experience increased side effects or your condition changes. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

carbamazepine ↔ baclofen

Applies to: Tegretol (carbamazepine), baclofen

Using carBAMazepine together with baclofen may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Reducing Wellbutrin XL is more complicated. Let's put that aside until you can understand the instructions.

How about reducing the carbamazepine? You are already cutting up that tablet. I would reduce the morning dose by 1/8 of a tablet.

Since you are taking half a tablet in the morning, you would cut the tablet into quarters, then cut one quarter into eighths. Take one quarter and the larger eighth and put the smaller eighth in a container. Rather than 100mg, you would be taking 75mg in the morning.

Having spent a good bit of time with all forms of bupropion, I learned that the XL version is the only one that can't be broken up. Not only because it would release everything all at once, but it is almost impossible to cut up, even with rather extreme tools.

1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to mania 6/2006--then I was taken abruptly off Cymbalta and didn't know I had SSRI withdrawal. Lots of meds for my intractable "bipolar" symptoms.

Zyprexa started about 9/06, mostly 5mg. Tapered 4/12 through12/29/12

Wellbutrin. XL 300 mg started 1/07, tapered 1/18/13 through 7/8/13

Oxazepam mostly continuously since 6/06, 30mg since 12/12, tapered 1.17.14 through 8.26.15

11/06 Lithium 600mg twice daily, 2.2.14 400mg TID DIY liquid, 2.12.14 1150mg, 3.2.14 1100mg, 3.18.14 1075mg, 4/14 updose to 1100mg, 6.1.14 900 mg capsules 7.8.14 810mg, 8.17.14 725mg, 8.24.24 700mg...10.22.14 487.5mg, 3.9.15 475mg, 4.1.15 462.5mg 4.21.15 450mg 8.11.15 375mg, 11.28.15 362.5mg, back to 375mg four days later, 3.4.16 updose to 475 (too much going on to risk trouble)

9/4/13 Toprol-XL 25mg daily for sudden hypertension, tapered 11.12.13 through 5.3.14, last 10 days or so switched to atenolol

7.4.14 Started Walsh Protocol

I pissed them off really bad , the drs that I had and other drs., because when I was better I told them straight to their faces what their poisons are doing to people and me....I asked one of them , my previous one, if he would give this **** to his children, he had two, I have two...the word spread around as there is one hospital and ten fifteen psychiatrists....they were making fun of me that i was bringing "new knowledge" such as dr Aston manual and other things...I was better with my mind and did tons of research.....now all is gone, ....when I got CT off Clonazepam in the hospital, I was crzzy, suicidal couldn t breathe leaning on the walls and lost totally lost, floaters,, sick like hell....they wanted to send me home , i said i was suicidal, they said it was not their problem, if i want to kill myself it is my responsability..... I was in horriffic withdrawal yelling like crazy,, my mind shot racing..... They do not care.....

Last time i was in hosp again almost CT from valium, i told them i was suicidal and i could hurt somebody....my dr. said k do not want to leave the hospital, run away from redponsabilities, and if I wanted to hurt somebody they would take my kids..... Then I lied........... And i was looking after things from the cleaning lady to ingest and kill myself , i couldn t take the torture........there is no winning with these bastsrds..... And my dr put me on so many meds because he Screwed me up Big Time withe the Valium withdrawal that sent me to the ER, and It Eas mu Fault , I was faking it!!!!!! I was Dissociating whenever I wanted to!!!!!! I wad a rare person he said .....3% of people could do that and i was and still am one of them!!! Because I want to be dependent on my husband without taking tesponsability for anything. Bastard!!!!

So going back to the hospital for what........unless I loose it soo bad which i did...and my husband has to take me there ....... God help me, i am just trying to stay alive.... Why I don t know ..........

Bydt
I take buspar 10mg+5mg+1/2 of 5mg
So it would be another 1/4 of mg down. It is very very hard for me to calculate anything, or to explain anything, my brain is not functioning ...maybe dementia or retardedness already

I think there is a mix up in the between buspar and bupropion

Alto she was going to make this cut tomorrow I asked her to wait to talk to you.  Should she cut the morning dose too now or continue cutting the later dose?  Is this too big a drop?  To get this to 10% Faith IF your cutting the morning dose too now.. it would be quarter the

10 mg pills
=2 pieces of 5mg
cut one of those pieces in half
=2.5 mg is the amount of drug in each quarter of a pill

Alto suggested you cut it side ways to get half a quarter this is the rate of taper this site have found to be most useful.

I think this is the recommendation.
I know the sight of the interactions set you off and over whelmed your senses... it is understandable I have been known to lose my patients in the early days too it is hard to keep it together I know...there will be plenty of time for that later if your calm now lets continue
if your not calmer yet see the self care pages you may find some ideas there... relaxation videos ect.

it is time to attend to this... the next move to make.
peace

Don't look for trouble it may actually get better the reason for small drops is so that it dose now get uglier... good thinking eh.  Wish I had known before I quit small drops allow the body to adjust to change without very slowly which is the way the body likes to do things inch by inch not yard by yard...

keep the body happy and this could go very well but it will take a long time due to the number of drugs

Nobody here has any promises to give and nobody hear got any when they came cause we don't lie...

we play it by ear and see how it goes and base everything on what we have seen in the past and what has worked there is always a risk as every human being is different but the risk is toned down due to low cuts ... with waiting between drops...

waiting to see and time of adjustment based on how this time goes suggestions will be made as to the next step...

that is how it goes here

peace

Welcome faith, I'm sorry you are suffering such heavy symptoms. Please let us know what drugs you were/are on and for how long.

Hold on, brain is very flexible and so many fast changes in your symptoms is a sign it is fighting to recover itself.

God bless Luca

Having spent a good bit of time with all forms of bupropion, I learned that the XL version is the only one that can't be broken up. Not only because it would release everything all at once, but it is almost impossible to cut up, even with rather extreme tools.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Faith.

XOXO

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

Faith, honestly I think you will first start to be able to coordinate your movements and keep your head up if the half of your medicaments would be away. Then maybe after 5-6 months. It takes a lot of time, but it is worth it.

05/2013 Lyrica 100 mg / per day for pain + PGAD resulting from caesarian delivery11/2014 started to taper: 50 mg per day/ for one week then c/tafter one month reinstated at 50 mg /per days of 10 July 2015 drug free-

symptoms OCD
