Was worth the shot but didn't work, went to bed 12.30am extremely tired and half asleep. 1am 24/09 wide awake could feel change in body 30 mins later left shoulder and arm started jerking got up at 2am for a snack (mind you had been snacking since evening meal).

Went online checked tapering sourced syringes made a plan back to bed a few small naps then up at 3.50am.Took 25mg Lyrica endone x1 sometime later (unknown time) sleep arrived slept until10.40 am. 50mg Lyrica taken. Have been tired all day.

Have checked my scales and only 2 digits after the decimal point so need to replace with something with 4 digits to be able to do the 10 % taper.

Back injury 2012 Oxycontin 15mg BD, Lyrica 150mg BD, Paracetamol 650mg x2 TDS, Endone 5mg PRN,2013 Buprenorphine patch replaced Oxycontin. 2013 straight drop of Lyrica to 75mg no W/D 1 week later ceased, strong W/D restarted 75mg. Since 1974 vitamin B12 injection every 6 weeks.Cholestyramine anhydrous (Questran Lite 4gr) 1-2 sachets a day, (not for cholestoral). 2015 reduced Paracetamol to 650mg x1 BD.

Cymbalta 13/May/2015 for mild depression & help reduce pain. Chronic pain due to back injury, adjusted to Cymbalta in 1.5 weeks then deteriated severe headaches and nausea set in. Ceased 07/June/2015 no tapering plan provided by doctor. W/D symtoms started on 10/June pm. By 12/June spasms/cramps lack of sleep severe, 5 beads removed from capsuale result spasams/cramps unbearable.

Did not resume, 13-16/June no W/D have slept extremely well no W/D.September 22/2015 Start Lyrica taper on 75mg X1 a day trying 50mg X1 a day. This didn't work reinstated 75mg 36hrs later, avoiding over heating during sleep seems to minimise limbs jerking.

It's quite easy to taper Lyrica using a homemade liquid. Please see Tips for tapering off Lyrica (pregabalin)

Yes that is what I was planning but it doesn't seem to get it ioo% accurate but probably will reaccess when I get the syringe to see the actual division between each ML.

Also will wait at least a week before starting need to stablise at 75mg again.

Well it has been a week since I tried the decrease from 75mg to 50mg lyrica but I am still not ready to start taper, last night was not good lots arm jerking both of them. My muscles are finding new places to cramp though some of the cramping pre dates medication issues.

But by studying what is going on with the jerking there seems to be a relationship with my body temperature, the night before last after getting up for a snack at 3.30am i was not to bad then I went into a deep sleep until 6.50am (my temperature was cool) which would have continued but the peace was ruined by work ringing to see if I could come in.

But last night rather hot again as most nights even though I was using lighter covers now, the jerking was strong and the cramps very painful.

I will start the taper when I can sleep better and not have the jerking happening.

30/08/15 have introduced magnesium and red rasberry leaf tea to try and deal with leg cramps, the 4 days from Friday will show if this helps as this is my working week when the cramps are at their worst. Also started 50mg of acetyl tyrosine a week ago for depression.

Hi, RockinBandit,

One thing occured to me lately...

Do you still use these buprenorphine patches? If so, maybe you should get rid of them before Lyrica...

According to DEA, buprenorphine is Schedule III Controlled Substance, Lyrica is Schedule V, so less addictive.

This is something to talk about with your GP, what to taper first. Cause you need an adequate pain management.

I'm not sure if Lyrica alone can provide it.

Take care,

Mel

Hi Melinie,

Yes I am still on the patches and in a way am tapering them by extending the amount of days I wear each one. A new one should go on every 7th day I am replacing every 9th day have slowly worked up to this and at present have 4 spare patches.

I want to taper off the Lyrica as it was introduced solely to ease leg pain which has ceased due to a lessening of scar tissue pressure on the root of the siatic nerve. I have always been sceptical that the Lyrica helped much hence why I would rather finish it first.

The Specialist surgeons I have seen believe I will always have the cronic pain (scar tissue has encased nerve root) so if not using the buprenorphine patches I will have to be on something.

Sorry RockinBandit, I got it all confused. Maybe it's a good idea to get rid of the Lyrica first. And then tackle the buprenorphine issue, if possible.

For pain management, I can swear by a combo of ketoprofenum and paracetamol. They gave it to me after a major surgery, following morphine which I was on for one day only.

They say ketoprofenum is addictive. But if I haven't got addicted to it, then it isn't.

I get addicted even to the stupidiest supplements... Such a belef in a pill. Wish I could change it.

Take care, Mel

Hi Melinie,

I have noted this for future reference.

Have had 3 exceptional nights sleep in a row without the usual cramps and feeling quite good cheerful and clear headed (may be the supplements).

May peace and comfort be with you.

Hi RockinBandit,

I'm glad your sleep has improved!

One thing about ketoprofenum and paracetamol combo: they are not good for the stomach unfortunately.

I only used them short term, after the major surgery few years ago.

I've been living with physical pain for the last two years. Due to severe neck discopathy, requiring surgical intervention.

I can relate a lot to what it means... the ordeal of feeling physical pain. It can't go untreated.

How is your Lyrica taper going?

Big hugs to you,

Mel

Hi Melinie,

I am putting the Lyrica taper on hold probably for another 2 weeks hoping the gap from starting to big a drop will have stabilised me to be able to start the 10% taper without issues.

All the best for you through your journey to better health.
