She is appealing against the rejection of her compensation claim. Lucy Tonge is one of 80 who have had applications for compensation rejected by the Department for Work and Pensions because their disabilities were not ‘severe’. By Hannah Devlin, Science correspondent Monday 15 June 2015 When Lucy Tonge started drifting off in front of the television as a 13-year-old, her parents put it down to typical teenage lethargy. And when she developed a strange habit of slumping forward when she laughed, her mum told her: “Stop doing that stupid thing when you laugh. It makes you look silly.” But she couldn’t. It was only when she started collapsing with no warning that her family sought medical advice that led to a diagnosis of narcolepsy. Soon afterwards, Tonge discovered that her sleeping disorder was very likely to have been triggered by the swine flu vaccine, which she had received in 2009 a couple of months before her symptoms first emerged. The government has acknowledged the rare side-effect of the Pandemrix jab, which was given to 6 million people in Britain during the 2009 and 2010 swine flu pandemic, but the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)has rejected the compensation claims of about 80 people including Tonge on the grounds that their disabilities were not “severe”. I was initially prescibed a benzo for several months and then Prozac for 5 years and after that, Seroxat for 3 years and 9 months. By Hannah Devlin, Science correspondent Wednesday 10 June 2015 A 12-year-old boy has been awarded £120,000 by a court that agreed he had been left severely disabled by narcolepsy triggered by the swine flu vaccine, following a three-year battle in which the government had claimed that his illness was not serious enough to merit payment. The ruling is expected to lead to as many as 100 other families of people affected by the sleeping disorder after receiving the vaccine bringing fresh compensation claims, in a dispute where the government’s initial hostility was described by the family’s legal team as offensive. “They felt quite insulted to have their condition basically dismissed as something quite trivial. I just got interested in narcolepsy yesterday, after re-reading the thread about "head drops" some of us had during intense withdrawal spells. This has not made the news here, at least not that I have seen. I don't know much about vaccines, but I wouldn't get Gardisil even if I could. I guess each one has to be evaluated on its own. Healy said something smart--they are medications like any other. All drugs have pros and cons... Are people who question the safety of vaccines in GB mocked and harassed as they are here? 2009: Cancer hospital said I had adjustment disorder because I thought they were doing it wrong. Their headshrinker prescribed Effexor, and my life set on a new course. I didn't know what was ahead, like a passenger on Disneyland's Matterhorn, smiling and waving as it climbs...clink, clink, clink. 2010: Post surgical accidental Effexor discontinuation by nurses, masked by intravenous Dilaudid. (The car is balanced at the top of the track.) I get home, pop a Vicodin, and ... Whooosh...down, down, down, down, down...goes the trajectory of my life, up goes my mood and tendency to think everything is a good idea.2012: After the bipolar jig was up, now a walking bag of unrelated symptoms, I went crazy on Daytrana (the Ritalin skin patch by Noven), because ADHD was a perfect fit for a bag of unrelated symptoms. I was prescribed Effexor for the nervousness of it, and things got neurological. An EEG showed enough activity to warrant an epilepsy diagnosis rather than non-epileptic ("psychogenic") seizures. 2013-2014: Quit everything and got worse. I probably went through DAWS: dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome. I drank to not feel, but I felt a lot: dread, fear, regret, grief: an utter sense of total loss of everything worth breathing about, for almost two years. I was not suicidal but I wanted to be dead, at least dead to the experience of my own brain and body. 2015: I began to recover after adding virgin coconut oil and organic grass-fed fed butter to a cup of instant coffee in the morning. I did it hoping for mental acuity and better memory. After ten days of that, I was much better, mood-wise. Approximately neutral. And, I experienced drowsiness. I could sleep. Not exactly happy, I did 30 days on Wellbutrin, because it had done me no harm in the past. I don't have the DAWS mood or state of mind. It never feel like doing anything if it means standing up. InvisibleUnless Posted June 25, 2015 Share Posted June 25, 2015 i had read the past few years about the negative effects of various flu vaccines and the HPV vaccine...i wasnt always as 'radical' as i am now regarding western medicine, but i saw the craptornado of the HPV coming before it was even being administered. and the looming prospect of a widespread ebola vaccination push was worrisome for a while. actually, here in california, they are increasing the pressure on mandatory vaccinations. they are one vote away from requiring schoolchildren to have a variety of vaccines, though many districts, schools, and doctors have been turning away unvaccinated children for years on their own authority. people are trying to push vaccines (like the seasonal flu vaccine) on me every time i see most doctors, or even sometimes at the pharmacy. i get harangued more about vaccines than meth and crack and heroin on the streetcorners---and at least illicit drug dealers acknowledge that their products can really ruin your life (and, furthermore, offer more to a person than a statistical hypothetical accompanied by purposely making you sick). "i dont like needles" is often a more valid excuse to them than talking about the serious or even debilitating illnesses that friends and people in news reports go through as a result of vaccines. great healy paraphrase up there, though. all of that is not to even speak of the dangers of such widespread vaccination...we are compromising our immune responses to present and evolving threats, as vaccination-provoked resistance is not generally transferred in breastmilk and also does not function identically in our bodies disease catalogue, which means new virulent strains could have an abnormally devastating effect when they hit the right mark. it also opens up an interesting and convenient (though i dont imagine pre-designed) hole for genocide, especially as part of a political thrust. from 2005-2012, i spent 7 years taking 17 different psychotropic medications covering several classes. i would be taking 3-7 medications at a time, and 6 out of the 17 medications listed below were maxed or overmaxed in clinical dosage before i moved on to trying the next unhelpful cocktail. antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, NDRIs, tetracyclics): zoloft, wellbutrin, effexor, lexapro, prozac, cymbalta, remeronantipsychotics (atypical): abilify, zyprexa, risperdal, geodonsleep aids (benzos, off-label antidepressants & antipsychotics, hypnotics): seroquel, temazepam, trazodone, ambienanxiolytics: busparanticonvulsants: topamax i tapered off all psychotropics from late 2011 through early 2013, one by one. since quitting, ive been cycling through severe, disabling withdrawal symptoms spanning the gamut of the serious, less serious, and rather worrisome side effects of these assorted medications. previous cross-tapering and medication or dosage changes had also caused undiagnosed withdrawal symptoms. brainpan addlepation Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As this board knows, I have had mysterious narcoleptic like issues for years that only recently are starting to improve somewhat. But they are still frustrating to deal with. CS Drug cocktail 1995 - 2010 Started taper of Adderall, Wellbutrin XL, Remeron, and Doxepin in 2006 Finished taper on June 10, 2010 Temazepam on a PRN basis approximately twice a month - 2014 to 2016 Beginning in 2017 - Consumption increased to about two times per week April 2017 - Increased to taking it full time for insomnia Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
btdt Posted June 27, 2015 Share Posted June 27, 2015 I had it it bad it can still come and go.. started with head drops on Effexor.. for one stage of wd when I ate I crashed it did not matter what I ate.. all food crashed me... not a nap I could barely make it to laying down sometimes and out like a light... I have times like this still I notice it coming on as I get foggy headed for a wk or so then the crashed come back with failing cognitive issues. I have fibro chronic fatigue dx after prozac use my first Ad. I think it may be related. Would like to add a tidbit here about vaccines and the first known case of chronic fatigue... fibormyalgia .... yuppy flu... the first known cases were years ago with the invention of the polio vaccine. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above. One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.
