My Introduction Thread

Full Drug and Withdrawal History

Brief Summary

Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects

2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010

Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal

DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms

Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal)

May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins.

Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes

Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine

Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D

June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens.

Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered

Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days.

April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close.

Thank you for sharing Petunia.  I am going to try it.  Lord knows I am doing little to nothing most days so...........really hopeful it may inspire and give strength, as well as some more practical tips as well.%2

Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks.

Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988.  In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm.

Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time).

5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014)

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!  Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to

2016 Dec 16 medication free!!

Longer signature post here, with current supplements.

Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016.  And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed.  Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022.  Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜

I think I am in and just go to the website at the designated time for further instructions.

Sounds like I should take notes.  Kundalini sounds cool but I have no idea what it is.  I hope we all get spiritually enlightened and get some good food tips.

For me.......it is going to be a nice friday evening.  I think it is just audio......not sure........it would be nice if it had nice images too.

Anybody listening?  I listened to one.  And then for 48 hours after each day you can go back and take a pick of another or several to listen to.

I am still thinking about just the concepts introduced in the Kundalini guys talk.  Bioenergetic understanding.........hmmmmmmmm.

All of the REPLAYS are available for free until Tuesday, July 14th at 9:00PM Pacifc. - See more at: http://www.shadesofawakening.com/Live#sthash.C8RT5cDS.75qJ4gPx.dpuf

I've been watching them all and taking notes, I've got one more to go. What an amazing group of speakers. I'm having my faith in humanity restored.

Much of the advice given for how to get through some of these spiritual processes is very similar to much of what we recommend here for nervous system sensitivity and withdrawal... avoiding toxic foods, substances and environments, communing with nature, warm salt baths, avoiding overly stimulating activities, mindfulness and surrendering to to process.

I can certainly see many parallels between the withdrawal process and awakening processes.

There has been only minimal mention of medications, but one of the main points which has come through clearly for me is that in reality, there is no clear definition between what gets labelled mental illness and a spiritual emergency.

Many of these speakers echo what Emma Bragdon says, that Spiritual Emergency is not a separate category from psychosis or pathological mental illness, there is no distinction.

I'm not a doctor.  My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one.

Shoot......I better go look for the breathwork one now.  I wish I could have seen more.  I tended to overrelate and feel a bit resistant as all I could think was......."I need to go to the Amazon and eat bark or hang out in Egypt for a bit?".  When in reality I just have to bring the concepts home...........

I should be getting a bit more in my inbox though.
