Julee
Hi. I am Mom to a 17 yo who has been taking 20 mg prozac for 6 months due to depression. In addition, he has been taking the Deplin 15 which reportedly makes the prozac work better. He is now feeling very well - has had depression lift due to outside social factors improving and no longer feel he needs the prozac. I concur. He told his doctor he would like to stop taking the prozac and was told "just don't take any more". I was under the impression that he should dose down slowly and thought the doctor would suggest that. Could someone advise me on how to proceed - or where to look on your website if info is already there. I am concerned that stopping suddenly may be harmful. Thank You. Julee. Link to comment

Your concern is well placed, and it's entirely possible your son will have difficulties. Here are some links on what is withdrawal and the keys to withdrawing safely. I'm moving this thread to the main introduction forum as so can track his progress there. One of the AD folk will be along to follow-up, but you can start with the above.
