Good luck finding the happy drug.

Let me know when you find it.

My "chimp" brain has taken over.

Feeling very threatened due to an awful work situation I went through whilst living in Canada.

Feel like I'm in "that place" again, and it's terrible.

Going to Skype my naturopath over the weekend and see what she can come up with on the "happy drug" front.

Im a psych Nurse and have worked the past 9 month of wd. Stressful jobs are a cause of stress even when well.

When your in wd it is about ten times stressful. EVERYTHING is amplified and feels worse and awful. Then when things pop up we just dont have it in us to sort it out.

I learnt a while ago to just turn up and do what you can. If they have an issue with that them tell you. I have noticed since i adopted this attitude nobody says anything to me. So did i put all that pressure on myself for years for no reason?? Did i make myself bad? The answer looks like yes you did.

Try take a breath, step back maybe and just think i am who iam and i can only do what i can.

Good luck sorting your work stuff out.

It's funny, because I don't dwell on WD like I used to.

My therapist drummed that out of me!

What you say is true though.  Step back or go crazy.

Thats because your getting better. Im still were you were a while back. The dwelling is the lack of control. Your lucky you aint got both, thats a massive plus for you. But you have been through what i am now.

Work is not worth been poorly over. Just do your best.

Every job area i have worked, there are bullies, cliques, nice people, miserable people, friendly people, awful people. I just sit back and let them all be...... focus on ME!! Thats all that matters.

I dont see people in authority now either or be scared of them. I just think we all do a different job and were all humans.

I hope you get it sorted.

Hi Leo,

And thank you for your support and kindness.

Its amazing to hear someone say that I am ahead on the WD healing journey, it really is.

I DID get it sorted TODAY 👍

Managed to get Snr Manager’s buy-in for current and future plan for project, and am writing a project mandate for it all.  Will be introducing the “correct” way of doing things.

When I asked her again re: re-setting my probationary period, she acknowledged that she had been a bit mean.

I still have my job.

The WD is still present though, as I had a major meltdown a couple of days ago, and threatened my husband that I would take off to my favourite national park (Exmoor) with my “Sealy” (childhood soft toy seal).

I have done that before when highly stressed.

It also helps talking to trusted colleagues.

Just wanted to thank you again Flowers, Shawny and Leo for your support.

It's been a brutal week, I think my manager "to be" has a screw loose which is worrying.

I have read a lot about narcissists, psychopaths etc., and he is "on that scale" somewhere.

Anytime JC.

Dealing with stress at work is just awful as we spend so much of our time there.  More than we do at home sometimes!

Seems like you have got several of the issues sorted - so well done you!  Good luck with that new manager though - could be interesting..........

Yeah, it's been extremely challenging Flowers, and I didn't think I could cope.

Well I didn't really.

Couldn't have done it without you guys and my hubby.

I'm on my guard with this guy I've been working with since mid-January.  Apparently he's going to be my line manager in June 🙄

Well at least you know what you are dealing with when June comes along.  Good to be on your guard.

Lets hope that things go smoothly for you  now.

Fingers crossed.

Further “evidence” that my line manager to-be is a narc.

He hasnt cc’d me on emails since mid last week due to a late CAPEX paper submission.

He hasn’t responded to my emails and he has avoided any contact.

No explanation.

None of my co-workers are speaking to me either.

Continuing to look for another job, as horrendous situation.

Oh JC that is just awful.  I feel you are being bullied and/or victimised.

Is there someone in HR you can have a quiet word with as this is totally out of order in the workplace.

I really feel for you and I know how hard it is to deal with people like this. They shouldn't be in a position of power.

Thank you Flowers, and yet they 9/10 get into positions of power by way of how they operate.

I'm struggling to work with this guy because he is a total a**h***.

He is chaotic, unprofessional and is more concerned about his power over me than doing the best job.

I find it a highly stressful situation to be in.

He will continually blame me for his incompetence to make himself look good.

You could say I have "been there and done that" and just don't have the capacity to deal with it.

I have a meeting with a Snr mgr to set my objectives, after which I am getting my (and the a**h**es) roles and responsibilities on this project defined in the presence of our senior mgr so that he doesn't mess me about and give me boring c**p to do.

In the meantime, I'm looking for another job.

Good plan getting the job defined in front of your snr manager.  Do you think this guy is feeling threatened by you because you are more competent than him? Maybe he is out of his depth in his role.

Good luck job hunting JC.

Hi Flowers,

Sorry for the late response, I had replied to you last night but SA crashed and my message got lost.  I chose to hit the sack.

I met with HR this morning and alerted them to the bullying.  The situation I am in is also a conflict of interest, as I am working with this guy on a project and he is also my line manager.

Yes, I think this guy does feel threatened because I am more competent than him.  He is constantly trying to impede workflow.

I'm going to continue looking for another job and get through the probationary period (am over halfway).

At least HR have it documented now.  This guy shouldn't be in a management position!  How are you feeling about things today?

The other guy has been downgraded to my "advisor" on the project.

He was putting the project at risk because he was too concerned about his new found status of being "above" me that it went to his head.  There was a complete communication breakdown.

Thankful to the Snr mgr and HR lady who listened to me.  My faith in humanity has improved immensely.

I still have to foster a working relationship with him, as his ego has taken a massive blow.

Experienced Overt bullying/harassment by this guy in front of all my colleagues today.

Horrendous 😪

I was forced to work with him on something at my desk because my laptop had died......a situation I had REALLY wanted to avoid knowing this would probably happen....and it did.

Unbelievably cringeworthy.

Think of it this way JC. At least he did it in front of people, so you have witnesses that he is a bully!

Maybe he just doesn’t like the fact that you are a women and could do his job. He feels threatened by you.

Take a deep breath. It sounds like your Snr manager and HR are on your side.

Take care,

Frogie xx

Oh No. Have you documented everything that was said in a journal of some sort?  You need to keep a record.

What an idiot he is behaving like that in front of everyone.

Hope you are OK?

Thank you Frogie and Flowers ❤️

Really appreciate your support.

Yes, I documented it all.

He accused me of being "difficult" which is classic narcissistic behaviour.

You're right that (in a way) it was good it happened in front of witnesses.

I had him squirming though as he struggled to figure it out.

Had to walk for an hr at lunch to try and calm down, but wasn't long enough.

Didn't feel like going out for drinks with work colleagues this evening either.

Thx again ladies xxx

Yes, he HATES and resents the fact that he isn't "in charge" of me, he also hates the fact that he has to be my advisor, and yes, that I'm female.

My therapist reckoned he could be mysoginistic.

You’re welcome. Anytime you need to vent, I’ll be happy to listen.

You are strong and will get through this. Don’t let him get under your skin. That’s what he wants it sounds like. But Flowers is smart, document everything.

Stay strong 💪🏻

The bullying/harassment continues.

It has gained momentum because he is seriously resentful that he no longer has any power over me.

He is doing it overtly in front of my team.

Continuing to document and will likely have to raise a grievance.

This happened because of poor management.

Hi Peachy,

No, not yet.  I am going the natural route first.

My cycles are awful too.

My TOTM is due any day now.

Cortisol/adrenaline levels are right up today.  Feels like low blood sugar.

Seeing my GP soon, going to request annual bloodwork.

Really tired, body is buzzing.

Can I ask a dumb question? What do you take that is natural instead of HRT?

I’m just curious. Maybe it would help me.

I appreciate you helping me JC.

Hey Frogie,

Google "natural treatments for menopause".

You'll get: Vitex, Agnus castus, black cohosh, maca powder.

Does stress/WD exacerbate sciatica?

It's flared up in both legs 😣

Seeing my GP on the 5th so will see what she says.
