I was recently treated "in patient". I'm here seeking advice on tapering off the medication that they put me on. I've tappered before off SSRIs. Right now I'm on an atypical antipsychotic, and that scares me, especially the potential side effects. 

 

So here I am! I'm reading up on the forums, and learning way, way more than I did my first time, over a decade ago.

So that we can offer suggestions based on your individual situation we need to know more information about your drug history.
 

A request: Would you summarize your history in a signature -- ALL drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly?

• Any drugs prior to 24 months ago can just be listed with start and stop years.
• Please use actual dates or approximate dates (mid-June, Late October) rather than relative time frames (last week, 3 months ago)
• Spell out months, e.g. "October" or "Oct."; 9/1/2016 can be interpreted as Jan. 9, 2016 or Sept. 1, 2016.
• Please leave out symptoms and diagnoses.
• A list is easier to understand than one or multiple paragraphs.
• Link to Account Settings – Create or Edit a signature.

I started on Abilify 5mg August 9th and then was bumped up to 15mg around the 15th. For the past week I've been taking a half tab one day and a whole tab the next, trying to ween myself to half a tab (7.5 mg). Next week I plan on taking just a half.

 

The facility I was in suggested just stopping if I was unhappy with it, or just halting my dose because they said I haven't been on it long enough to have withdrawal. I think stopping completely sounds…dangerous, even if it has been just a month.

 

Thoughts?

Please add the Abilify dates and doses to your drug signature.  The mods, and also members, can get your drug history easily from your drug signature without reading through all your posts.  Thank you.
