I was prescribed Sertraline by my GP for mild depression that I was going through during a custody battle for my children in the Family Court. I had a bad reaction to the medication and tried to take my life and ended up in hospital with a brain injury and short term memory loss. After I came out of hospital I was once again prescribed the Sertraline again for mild depression and the same suicidal thoughts and actions  happened but this time I called Lifeline. I realised that it wasn’t me and it was related to the antidepressant Sertraline. I stopped taking the medication and have not been suicidal since even though my kids have been taken away from me. Before Sertraline I had experienced seasonal winter blues but never tried to take my life. On the Sertraline I tried several times. One almost successful and giving me a brain injury and short term memory loss.

Hi Bensiera, welcome to SA. I completely understand what you are going through and have been through. I was in a similar situation when I saw my first psychiatrist and was prescribed seroxat. I became massively suicidal and made several attempts on my life. It was changed many times because I was deemed 'treatment resistant' , nothing worked and I went deeper and deeper into the abyss.  Thankfully I had my family around me to take care of my kids while I went through this. I feel so sad that yours were taken away from you.  Thankfully because of sites like this, people and professionals are wakimg up to the dangers of these drugs and we can support each other to be free of them.

Are you taking anything now?   It would be good if you can fill in your signature for us, you can find instructions here...

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

I’m too scared to take anything now. So just bare knuckling it. I’m just wondering if there is a class action Re Sertraline? It has pretty much stuffed up my life and I would like retribution if possible?

Hi BS sorry to hear your troubles ,I can relate to the bare knuckling ,mine look like I'm a member of a fight club  .your well in your right to feel resentment ,but putting so much energy into retribution at this stage will only prolong symptoms and it can be very damaging ,of course your angry but try find a calmer way to dissipate this energy   ,at least for the time being .

Welcome and be safe .

Alcohol free since February 2015

1MG diazepam

4.5MG PROZAC.

Thanks for the advice. Does anyone know if there is a class action that I can join. It’s pretty hard with a brain injury to try and get this stuff organised.
