Zakalwe: single dose Lexapro

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I took a single dose of lexapro early June 2018.  I've had some form of PSSD since then.  Strangely enough, I also got middle of the night insomnia starting about 6 weeks after the dose.  I never had these symptoms before I took that single dose.  I never thought that PSSD would become a distant secondary concern but the insomnia is kicking my a**.  I sleep for 3 hours and then I wake up.  Then I wake up almost every hour after that.  Before I took lexapro, if I had a bad night's sleep I would make it up the next day.  I've had this consistent insomnia for about 3 weeks now.

Thanks.

Hi Zakalwe, welcome to SA. I am sorry that you had such a bad reaction to just one dose of lexapro, sadly that happens quite a lot.

You will recover but it takes time.  I will get some links for you that might help. I am sorry I can't say very much, it is 2.30am and way past my bedtime!

Insomnia is one of the worst symptoms of an unstable nervous system, and you need to have really good sleep hygeine. No screens for an hour or 2 before bed. (Definitely well before 2.30am, don't follow my example! ).

There are many topics here about symptoms and sleep problems with some great suggestions. I am a chronic insomniac and found them really helpful.

Symptoms and sleep

We have a PSSD forum where people discuss this problem, but please be aware that this is a family site so be careful with descriptions of symptoms. We have some very old and very young members so do not post anything you wouldn't want your gran or your young sister/brother to see!

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible
