Hi, I am a new member to this group.  I am currently tapering from Cymbalta which has been a bit of a rocky road.

 

Here is why I am writing...not for me but for a friend who had to go Cold Turkey from Ativan.  She is allergic to it.  And the doctors won’t help her withdrawal..which is horrific.  What can I do to help?  She lives in Ohio.

Please ask your friend to join this site. We will need to ask her questions. It could be she can take a bit of another benzo to stop her withdrawal symptoms.

Thank you...I told her about this website and hope she joins.  I have read the material about Cymbalta.  Excellent advice.  I have tapered from 60 mg down to about 3 mg.  It has been a long process but I don’t want to be controlled by this poison any longer.

Hi Gazelle, I hope your friend joins us. 

Glad that you have read the info on tapering cymbalta. I hope you have tapered very slowly, I thought I had tapered effexor slowly for a year, 10% cuts but did not do the 10% of the current dose and aent into withdrawal after being off for a month. If you have tapered like I have, please consider holding your 3mg for  a few months. I know well the feeling of wanting off a drug but honestly, taking more time can allow your brain to adjust before the last leg of a taper.

Thank you, Mamma P...I think I am going to take you up on staying at 3mg for awhile.  I made a chart yesterday where I would be finished by Thanksgiving...but what the heck, I can hold off...especially if it means I won’t have withdrawal at Christmastime. I was prescribed Effexor but quit taking it because I was having auditory hallucinations....creepy....music from the heat registers and outside the windows.  

 

People think prescription drugs will take away all their problems...they don’t know the problems are just starting.
