cathnz
To those of those who have healed... can healing from wd still happen WHILE you're still on a different med? Or do they all need to be out of your system for healing to begin? 2 Aug 2004 - Dec 2006: Aropax ( 20mg - 30mg). Aug 2007: Fluoxetine (for 3 weeks). Sept 07 - July 12: Lexapro ( 10mg - 20mg). Pooped out July 12. Titrated down off Lexapro over 3 weeks and switched to Paroxetine (with Xanax to cover switch for 2 weeks). Aug 2012 - Aug 2019: Paroxetine (titrated up to 20mg in first few weeks,, dose reduced to 15mg . for 7 years until it 'pooped out'. 4th Aug 2019 - Reduced dose of paroxetine to 10mg (for 1 day) - under phychiatrists directions. Last dose of paroxetine. 5th Aug 2019 - Switch to 15mg Mirtazapine. 5th Aug - 15th Aug 2019 - 15mg Mirtazapine plus intermitent use of Lorazapm (0.25- 0.5 . Also used 12.5mg Quetiapine for 3 nights for sleep. 23rd Aug 2019 - Ended up in crisis team. Mirtazapine increased to 30mg. Diazapam 10mg twice daily. 30th Aug 2019 - Mirtazapine 30mg + Diazapam reduced to 7.5mg twice daily 6th Sept 2019 - Mirtazapine 30mg + Diazapam reduced to 5mg twice daily 13th Sept 2019 - Mirtazapine increased to 45mg. Diazapam increased back up to 10mg twice daily. 20th Sept - 29th Sept 2019: Mirtazapine 45mg. Diazapam being reduced from 10mg down to 0mg this week (in 2mg increments couple of days). 30th Sept - Thursday 3rd Oct 2019: Mirtazapine 45mg. WORST ANXIETY EVER. Akathisia. Couldn't stay still. Suicidal idealization. Friday 4th October - present: Reduced from 45mg to 30mg (straight drop to alleviate akathisia - reduction definitely helped alot but still not gone completely) , Vit B6, Curcumin, Magnesium (no adverse effects from adding these supplements - have helped akathisia somewhat). * Everything done from 23rd August under care of outpatient crisis team management. sunnysideup69
Following this, be very interested to hear the answer.....my hunch is, yes, healing from WD begins whist still on another med. Your situation mirrors mine somewhat in that you did a 'cold switch' from one drug to another, the last time being from paxil to mirtazipine. ( I switched from Citalopram to Venlafaxine.) Looks like you made the switch around the same time as me, August last year. I'll read your thread but my personal take is that, yes, I'm healing from my misdemeanours with Citalopram ....even though I'm on another drug. It's taking longer than I'd like, and at the moment I'm still quite wavey owing to life events, but the healing is happening. I guess it's a partial healing, because receptors and whatnot (technical word haha) are still being occupied by a different drug. All the while you are stabilising, healing is happening, widows and waves are evidence of that. I also think that FULL healing doesn't happen from these drugs until we are totally off them, but that doesn't mean we should rush the process. Gonna check out your thread January 2008 to April 2015 Citalopram 20mg to 5mg, reducing in 50 per cent leaps. Jumped off at 5mg March 2016 used MDMA triggered setback April 2016 Citalopram 10mg October 2016 cut to 5mg, May 2017 cut to 2.5mg May 2018 used MDMA triggered setback June 2018 Citalopram 2.5mg up to 10mg, then back to 5mg July/ August 2018 7.5mg, then 10mg June 2019 updosed to 20mg Citalopram August 2019 cold switch to Venlafaxine 75mg XR Supplements; 1100mg fish oil daily; also 100mg Magnesium Glycinate. Tried Vagifem 10mcg from mid May 2021 to mid June 2021; caused depression, so stopped.

Moderator hayduke Posted June 7, 2020 Moderator Share Posted June 7, 2020 Healing is more of a process than an event. I'm confident that it's been taking place all the way through my taper, even the more trying bits, and will continue afterwards. Cheers I am not a health professional - your actions are your own. hennie86
I am only using one med - benzos -anymore after polypharmacy but I have experienced a lot of healing when I stopped the others and polypharmacy. polypharmacy made me so much worse. Benzos are toxic and I feel I am not going to start healing properly if I am still using them but I have made progress in many things such as insomnia during my benzo taper. I know the proper healing when start when I get off benzos completely 2005-2009 Lexapro 10-20mg & Remeron 7,5mg: cold turkey 2010 tried Venlafaxine (month), 2011-2012 Seroquel 25mg (few months) 2014 6 days Cipro(antibiotics) adverse reaction 2011-2015 Lexapro 10-20mg (tapered off during 4 months) 2015-2016 (all these drugs during 9 months during SSRI wd,did not tolerate most of them ) : tried Remeron, Temazepam. Reinstatement of Lexapro 3 months after stopping it: fail. Akathisia, insomnia. Zyprexa10mg, Sodium Valproate, Temazepam(20mg), Oxazepam 30-45 mgs. Switching meds: Seroquel 50-100mg, Oxazepam 30-45mg , Temazepam 20mg. Then back to Zyprexa 10mg, Temazepam20mg, doctor took me off Oxazepam fast. Then Zyprexa 20mg, Temazepam 20mg, melatonin10mg ( sometimes very rarely Valium 10 mg.) Zyprexa: cold turkey because 20 mg Zyprexa made akathisia intolerable after every dose. After it insomnia, 24/7 akathisia, adverse reactions to supplements. 2016 spring daily Valium 15mg (for akathisia)>0mg (used for 4 months and during that time slowly tapered off), tried Betablockers (shortly), Temazepam 40 mg > 25 mg (tapered in 3 months) 2016 summer Temazepam 25 mg > 20 mg, melatonin 2,5 mg 2016 november Melatonin 0,5 mg, Temazepam 20 mg. Started tapering again. 2022 july (microtapering) 3,0 mg Temazepam Supplements: Probiotics, magnesium oil occasionally, melatonin 0,5 mg
