Do Symptoms During Waves Change?

Hey guys-

I’ve been on my journey for 4 years now and I’ve been holding at 4 MG of Lexapro for awhile until I’m able to sort some things out with some other conditions.

I failed myself miserably and took an anticonvulsant (just one pill!) at the behest of my neurologist despite knowing what could happen. And what could happen did...a severe reaction.

It knocked me off course and I *think* 2.5 weeks later, I’m in a wave. But this wave is different. I usually only feel physically bad but this one has severe anxiety and hyperventilation attached to it, something that’s new for me. It’s super uncomfortable and I’d love to return to my WD normal state.

My question is...does anyone’s waves change? Do your symptoms vary? Terrified that this is the new normal.

Thank y’all and GB.

  • ryan1982 changed the title to Do Symptoms During Waves Change?

My waves are always marked with anxiety. I’ve never had major physical symptoms, brain zaps, blurred vision, that stuff doesn’t bother me as much as waves of anxiety and ruminating emotional spirals.

Ive read many posts here and people have varying symptoms at varying times, symptoms of waves change for many according to what I’ve read here and the links the mods have provided me.

Ive learned here that simplicity and consistency is key. Hopefully your anxiety will subside after this setback and you’re keeping everything else as consistent as possible. Nothing you can do about the drug you took now.

I hope your anxiety subsides. I use deep breathing and try to float not fight, I also find that eating helps my anxiety but that’s just me. Michael Sealey guided meditations (headphones) help me immensely too.

1998 -2000 started and stopped several SSRIs because of bad reactions, Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin
2004 to 2006 Prozac 20mg

2004  Klonepin(daily 15 days)VERY bad cold turkey reaction after 15 days of use.
2012, rehab inpatient alcohol, marijuana (sober since)

2012- present trazadone 50mg (At bedtime) tried twice to stop.
2012-2017 Prozac 20mg, stopped Prozac CT without many problems.

12/16/20- present lexapro 10 mg

12/27/20 started rapid lexapro taper 2.5mg every 2 days after only 11 days of use. Drug interaction problems with  trazadone suspected.
1/2/21 last day of lexapro
1/321 now trying to stabilize on trazadone enough to begin taper. I was not using the trazadone in a consistent  way starting in late October and it thru me into wd  like symptoms. I was taking it at wildly different times each day because my sleep schedule (bed time) would fluctuate.

Thanks, @Humanist56- great stuff. I’m sure it will subside but it’s easy to get impatient and wonder why it’s happening, which definitely makes things way worse. I always forget how bad anxiety is until I experience it; absolutely brutal. Definitely keeping things consistent, trying to be diligent about my sleep schedule and ensuring I get enough rest. I’ll make it!

Greatly appreciate you chiming in!
