Hello Folks

For the past 11 years I have suffered from chronic back pain & currently take Lyrica, Cymbalta & Tramadol.  In January, 2021, I began tapering both Lyrica & Cymbalta with some limited side effects.   I estimate it will take me at least another year to finish my taper of both medications.  Before I begun tapering my Cymbalta & Tramadol doses, I tried, with no success, to eliminate one of my Tramadol pills for just one day [I take 100 mg/day].  Horrible pain resulted so I gave up trying because the pain was so severe.

Can anyone suggest how I could approach my Tramadol withdrawal/tapering?

Thanks!

It sounds like you're doing pretty well on your tapers off Lyrica and Cymbalta.  I would suggest waiting until these tapers are finished and you feel stabilized before beginning to taper Tramadol, especially considering your recent reaction.  If symptoms do start to emerge, you might consider holding the Lyrica taper, and finishing with the Cymbalta first, and then recontinuing with the Lyrica.  As you might've read, we suggest reducing by no more than 10% of the current dose every 4 weeks to reduce the risk of withdrawal symptoms arising.  Here are some links that apply to Lyrica, Cymbalta and Tramadol:
