Annabee
Annabee's Intro/Update topic link ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Hello!I am wondering if you know anything about akahisia.I've read a lot of people that have had it while ON the offending meds but then it went away when the med was stopped.I got it from taking Latuda for 3 weeks and when I stopped the drug it persisted on.My psych insists it should be gone by now as the drug is out of my system.I feel it 24/7; the inner agitation, trembling, vibrations,I feel I need to constantly pace, can't sit down or do anything for a period of time, like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket. It is very hard to describe but it is much more than anxiety. It is an inner torture/restlessness.I have been dealing with it med free for 3 weeks but my primary doctor just prescribed hydroxyzine 25 mg to take the edge off.Its not helping much and I just pray I don't have permanent brain damage and this will reside soon. Neon
Hey everybody, I just wanted to create this thread since many of us struggle with akathisia, from light to severe and it would be nice to have a thread where all helpful things could be put together. I remember for light akathisia ice cold showers helped me alleviate it. For the past year I have been struggling with severe akathisia and nothing seemed to help apart from benzos which is why I ended up on a high dose and multi-drugged. Yesterday I was in such bad shape again bec it broke through that I went to the doctor and he gave me a beta-blocker Nebivolol. I wasnt very optimistic since I already tried Propranolol to no avail but within half an hour I felt normal. I know it is a med more which is not great but at least no psych med and I keep thinking if I only knew this a year ago I wouldnt be poly drugged right now so I wanted to spread the message. Hope it helps someone Love, Neon 1 2010-2020: Venlafaxine (between 37.5mg and 225mg (CT twice from low doses 2018, 2020) and Trazodone (between 25 and 50mg, CTd twice without problems) April 2021: Crash with OCD, anxiety, akathisia after taking benzo and microdosing mushrooms 11th June-2nd July(3 weeks total): Seroquel 150mg, Seroquel XR 50mg, Trazodone 150mg, Zoldem 10mg July 2nd-Feb 15: Venlafaxine between 37,5 and 75mg, Olanzapine between 2,5 and 5mg August 22nd: introduce 0.5mg Lorazepam (0.25 10am, 0.25 7pm) December 7th: stop morning dose Lorazepam without problems January 10: Reduce evening dose from 0.2mg to 0,15, cant sleep and take 1.5mg Lorazepam, plus forgot to take my Venlafaxine that day --> severe crash with suicidal akathisia go up with Lorazepam to 4mgs, starting 4mgs on March 28th February 15th: increase Venlafaxine to 93,75, tried 150 with bad reaction, slight increase seemed to settle the akathisia a bit June 14 lose sleep, return of akathisia in full force 20th June increase Lorazepam to 5mg current medication: Venlafaxine 93,75mg (8am) Olanzapine 3mg (9:30pm), Lorazepam 5mg taken 4x daily at 8-12-17-21:30 o'clock

kostakonkordia
This is a post about vitb6 and akathisia: https://www.madinamerica.com/2018/01/vitamin-b6-effective-reducing-antipsychotic-induced-akathisia/ I really don't understand why nobody has found this before... Edited May 30, 2022 by kostakonkordia Ad's since 2016 (I was 16 then...) (Escitalopram) Nov 2018 switch to venlafaxin 150mg Nov 2019 to march 2020 tapered by 37,5mg to cero. (breakdown, minor w/d symptoms for a few days only panic attacks followed by deep depression came a month later duo to stress). Reinstated venla 150mg in Juli 2020. Nov 2020 to April 2021 tapering by 15mg every month or so until I reached approximately 50 mg(no w/d symptoms) Since April 2021 tapered once by 5% and once by 10% of the last dose because I'm not stable enough for w/d. Current dose 50mg venlafaxin No other medication. No supplements Stopped smoking 29.12.2021 No alcohol
Neon
Thank you kosta! Ariel
I also find cold water/plunge/showers/bathing helpful for all kinds of symptoms. One more thing I remembered. When I had akathisia I found it helpful to wear compression garments, for example exercise clothing (athleisure) with compression effect. It calmed me down. 1996-2018 - misc. polypharmacy, incl.
