I can top that! I lost my colon, completely, as the result of Paxil.

And very sad to report, that during the months of ulcerative colitis, and yes, that IS a listed side effect of Paxil, ( I believe the more current prescribing paper that comes with a bottle of it has noq omitted it), of all the G.I. specialists I saw, they all thought I was bonkers for suggesting that Paxil, or withdrawal could have anything to do with it! How insane is that? !!!

Odd that probiotics would cause you have have constipation though.

I had the runs for a long time then runs and constipation was told I had spastic bowel then irritable bowel... then years of just not being able to go... I have a fatty liver... actually my liver is second stage fibrosis so I used a diet in a book called fatty liver diet... it says to drink warm water every morning with half a lemon squeezed into it...

I am not sure how I got it but I ended up with rectocele... that I needed to have repaired had it done recently... I think it was there awhile and just got way worse and had to be delt with ... this may be the reason for the constipation from seemingly everything...

don't know tho... just a guess...

waiting to see what I am left with after this surgery is healed.  It is new.

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

How do you know it is benign?  Did you have a biopsy or just a doc thought so...

I have two cyst in my liver or did 7 years ago when they did an mri... my family doc at the time said I may have liver cancer and sent me to a liver speicalist who he said would biopsy them... but the liver doc said not they were simple cyst... and the risk of biopsy was too great... he is the same doc who ordered the new test something like an ultra sound to discern liver fibrosis.  I had the test last year.. result second stage fibrosis.  Cost 80 bucks to find that out and no treatment... not sure why I bothered really... the doctor who ordered it did not say much but he did seem surprised with the results... told me vitamin E may help... oh big deal... I was already taking Vit E hit and miss still do hit and miss.

I thought I was done at 18 months I felt so good then the same happened to me like a bolt of lightening it all came back even harder with different symptoms.  Thanks to the people on pp I learned it was common not in the general post area that was useless they beat the **** out of me there when I told the truth... but from that general forum post several people pm me that they too were in the same boat around the 18 month mark.  That lead me to think about the way cycles in our bodies work there is the cicardian one.. sorry I am not up to looking up words today... blame the pain pills... but cycles like that I bet there are other cycles science and human in general are still unaware of.  Perhaps this is how we will heal... using these unheard of cycles.  It makes some sense to me if anybody would listen and follow these healing patterns I bet there are things to learn that could advance our understanding and who knows where it may lead.  Maybe.  The other things with the liver I have thought of is... there is a post on here I found once ... again I am not 100% yet still not really up to all this... but it linked the liver the thyroid... and likely the brain... if I could get my head around it ... would not even attempt it now.. but I think the liver being such an important roll in all this may be the key to healing the rest... again maybe.  I did that diet in the book fatty liver by sandra whatever... sorry again... my mind is not clicking right... there are all kinds of things to do to help heal you liver... Liver is a good place to start as it is a very forgiving organ unless you have fibrosis if you do that will never heal.... there are foods you can eat that will help... artichoke hearts... shitaki mushrooms... for instance...

I did the diet before the accident and before my son got ill ... it seemed to really help me... if your up to it... I did not take the supplements they suggest for two reasons supplements scare the **** out of me... and I could not afford to buy them. I had a some major setbacks from supplements in the past... I do not drink a drop of booze and for the last six months am lucky to get food as I have been mostly dependent on other to feed me... so not on the diet now... but I do recommend it as a good way to heal you liver. if you want to give it a shot....
