Hudgens Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Did you cold turkey the Cymbalta? What else are you taking right now and for how long? What are the withdrawal symptoms you are experiencing? What is your PTSD from? Are you a veteran? Sept 12th 1992-began taking Imipramine (50mgs) for panic attacks. Stopped Imipramine after 4 months (cold turkey). 7 months later experienced "mysterious" bad flu-like symptoms, although, without upper respiratory problems or fever. Because of this and a day of panic attacks, was put on Prozac (20mgs?) for 2 months and then, when that didn't work-was put back on Imipramine, plus Xanax 1 mg (4Xdaily)-October 1993. March 1999-switched from Imipramine (50mgs) to Celexa. 2008-switched to Pristiq for 3 months, then back to Effexor XR (after bad reaction to the Pristiq). Sept 1st 2010-Switched from Effexor XR (75mgs) to Effexor Generic (solid form) in preparation for taper. Nov 15th 2010-Began tapering from 75mgs Effexor Generic. January 13th 2014-.06mgs April 17th 2014- .03mgs May 11th 2014- .02mgs Ended taper October 31st 2014 Oct 4th 2015-11 months post taper and completely back to normal!
Moderator Emeritus mammaP Posted September 18, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Posted September 18, 2015 Hi PTSDpanic, can you give us some more details? When did you quit cymbalta and are you still taking prozac and xanax? Why did your doctor prescribe prazosin as it is used for different problems? What are your symptoms now? There are reactions reported between your drugs. I put them into the interactions checker ar drugs.com and this is the report. Interactions between your selected drugs Moderate prazosin alprazolamApplies to: prazosin, Xanax (alprazolam) Prazosin and ALPRAZolam may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor. Switch to professional interaction data Moderate alprazolam fluoxetineApplies to: Xanax (alprazolam), Prozac (fluoxetine) Using ALPRAZolam together with FLUoxetine may increase your blood levels of ALPRAZolam or cause it to stay in your body longer. This can cause symptoms such as excessive drowsiness. Talk with your doctor before using these medications together. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take both medications. Avoid driving until you know how these medications will affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Moderator Emeritus KarenB Posted September 18, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Posted September 18, 2015 Hello PTSDPanic, I'm sorry this is such a horrible time for you. On these drugs our brains seem to easily get stuck in negative patterns, and we imagine all sorts of un-hopeful and un-helpful things. It's called neuro-emotions - ie if you weren't on the drugs you wouldn't be having those particular thoughts that are making you scared or panicky. When it is hard to stop panic-attacks, physical things can help - do you have a trusted friend who could just come round and be with you? Sometimes we can sort of latch onto someone else's groundedness in order to feel a bit better for a while. It can help stop you spinning out. A hot bath with epsom salts is very calming, as is sipping ice-water with magnesium-citrate (at a low dose, see http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/1300-magnesium-natures-calcium-channel-blocker/ I find that a bit of yoga - just lying on my back with my legs up the wall - can help ground me and switch me out of my thought-patterns. Although it can be impossible to remember when you are in the middle of the hard stuff, it will get better - nothing ever stays the same. Keep posting, keep reading the topics for reassurance and tips for soothing, keep caring for yourself - you are worth every bit of care in the world. Hugs, Karen 2010 Fluoxetine 20mg. 2011 Escitalopram 20mg. 2013 Tapered badly and destabilised CNS. Effexor 150mg. 2015 Begin using info at SurvivingAntidepressants.
