Thank you for posting on my thread.  I started to respond to you earlier on here but then, one distraction, and poof I was gone.  Yes, I do need to make a concerted effort to post on my own thread but it is so much easier for me when I feel like I am actually talking "to" someone.  And I think I just exhausted myself earlier.  

 

I ran out of the Mag Fizz and not sure it was a cure or not.  I did Google the Australian one but apparently, it hasn't arrived in the States yet.  Still am afraid to take a pill though.  Maybe need to get some Syrup of Ipeac (makes you throw...Just in case it is different name for you lot)  

 

Symptom wise:  Woke at 3am, not altogether unusual.  (I think I may have shared this with you already feel free to bypass.)  Took RX at 4am as I thought it was time to get up.  Got whacked with symptoms right away, dizzy, swoony and the evil anxiety.  Not sure if it was the let down of the day or the fact that I was in a frenzied state in the early afternoon, but suddenly, I feel a little "human."  Could also be the fact that I dashed like a mad woman to catch the bus whilst lugging cooler and big ole' bag only to see it passing by. So, having no patience and not being able to stand still that long (anxiety, table for one,) I kept walking from bus stop to bus stop until eventually collapsing and catching the next one.  Perhaps endorphins and exercise have led to this feeling.  Or maybe, it was the sun!  A partial day of solar energy in the midst of grey, foggy, icy, melting snow!  Oh, and I ate Christmas fudge!  (Bad sugar, sorry to share for your non-chocolate compatible self.)  Or the earlier time of the Rx got some of this over with earlier?  Who knows, but I do have to try and over analyze these things.  

 

It feels a little like walking on a precariously frozen surface, though.  I am so afraid to make a wrong move, least I break through this precious moment and fall in to the (I think Abyss might be a bit mellow dramatic, but my brain cannot come up with a better word)  I don't want to fall back into the hole that I have been desperate to climb out of!  How's that?

 

I already have London time on my phone, don't know if I can do Australia too!  Whatever time it be, I hope it is keeping you so very well.

Hi JS ☺️ I've stopped taking the oral magnesium, thought is might be making me worse (need to update my sig)....only take fish oil in the morning.  But I am soaking in Mag baths (on the days my skin isn't burning) and I'm using a Magnesium oil spray (applied to the skin).  Lol...I'm hoping your joking about Ipeacac!  My neighbour told me a funny story once...she's in her sixties but back in the day she caught her boyfriend cheating on her.  Well, she's a level headed lady, didn't get angry, didn't yell and scream...she baked her boyfriend a cake....with a whole bottle of ipeacac syrup.  He was one sick puppy 😳

I looove the way you write!!!  Do you ever get the feeling, that on some days life decide's to keep throwing crap in your direction?It's like being on the Truman Show.  Do we have an audience? Is this a black comedy? Gee, I hope someone is having a good laugh...cause I sure could do with a laugh!  Feeling a little 'human' sounds good to me...after that day...that is a massive achievement!

Have you heard of Joe Simpson the mountain climber (almost died - he literally did fall into an abyss). He wrote a book which was made into a movie "touching the void" (I recommend it).  In his book he refers to his quest for survival and states "you gotta make decisions.  You gotta keep making decisions, even if they're wrong decisions.  If you don't make decisions, you're stuffed"...I think he's got a point!  We are never going to make the right move every time...but we can't let fear prevent us from making the move.

Hi JS,

 

How are you doing?  You mentioned dizzy, swoony and anxiety.  I truly hope this evil trio have either moved out of your life or have at least dropped down their level of torture.

 

I've noticed that the traffic on SA drops down on the weekends.  Have you noticed that at all? I am wondering if it is because weekends are less stressful for people, and if so why?  A few theories I have is possibly because they are not working, or perhaps they are with family? Or you may not agree with me at all about the traffic being less here on this site over the weekend.  How about you, are weekends better or worse for you?  For me, I think weekdays are better. I tend to have things I have to do during the week and that keeps me more distracted. 

 

When you have a chance I would love to hear how you are doing.

Hi RS,

 

What a kind wish.  If only I had a magic lamp complete with genie!  How different my wishes would be than those of the past.  I do believe in magic.  

 

I have noticed that the closer I get to work, the more the anxiety ramps up, especially when it is an unfamiliar place. It was not a welcome visitor and brought its friend despair.  Much ugh.  Better today though. Yeah!

 

I've noticed that too.  If you have family, they are usually off and out of school so time to do things together and chores, shopping things like that.  More distractions, just life stuff usually fills time.  Many people have varied schedules, but typical is Monday thru Friday.  For me, weekends, especially Saturdays, are long.  I used to think it was because when I waited tables, I worked every Saturday and Sunday forever.  So, I really didn't know what to "do" on the weekends when I started the Monday thru Friday thing.  And, although I do love to be spontaneous, I also like a schedule.  People's lives are so chalk full of commitments, that it is hard to find someone who isn't scheduled if you are free and haven't planned any weekend things.  It is hard because although I do like to try and plan when you don't know how you are going to feel.

 

Today I went to this class on kindness at this new agey church that I started attending recently.  It really made you think.  They showed a Ted Talk and this professor and author, Sharif somebody who teaches at Portland State University was talking about preconceived notions and prejudices.  He told a story about how he was on his way to a lecture, parked his car and noticed that the couple who had parked near him had left their lights on.  He called out, but they didn't respond so he began walking briskly towards them.  He again tried to get their attention, "Sir, Mame."  No response.  He reached to touch the man on the shoulder, the man spun around ready to fight.  He was caucasian.  The professor, who is an afro American, told him his lights were on.  He saw regret in the man's eyes.  The man thought he was a mugger.

 

A little later, the man was about to start a lecture when an A.A. man walked in and asked if anyone had a quarter.  The professor said he thought with some disgust, "A homeless guy wanting money."  He then noticed that the man had two dimes and a nickel.  The professor had done the same thing that the other man had done to him.  He talked about how changing our preconceived notions could slowly lead to changing the world.

 

So, I was at the store feeling all Kumbaya, let a lady go in front of me as she was waiting on a cab and in a hurry.  She looked maybe late 60's and was dressed professionally, even on a Saturday evening, and had a satchel that had papers in it.  I asked if she was a professor.  No, but she was working on her doctorate in education and had worked as an adjunct before.  Here I was driving this mama van that my gf and her husband had lent me--such a kindness--and knowing how much I had spent on Lyfts in the past few weeks I offered her a ride home.  We get to her house, I help carry her groceries in and she wants to give me something to repay my kindness.  Really not necessary I say.  She insists and cuts me some homemade biscotti.  Very nice.  While cutting my reward, she talks about how she has been stalked by cab drivers and to be sure I am careful.  Weird.  But I assure her I will.  She then tells me that the police have been called but do little.  Yes, it is a tricky issue.  She then tells me that they are probably here now, under the house, in the walls and in the air ducts.  "Oh really?  I'll be sure and be careful."

Note to self:  Kindness is lovely, but, you just never know.  Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

You are so very kind, K, thank you.  I feel as though my sense of humor has taken a powder.  I do hope it returns soonest.  Laughing at all of this is so very preferable to tears.  

 

My dearest mama, also a nurse, was filled with such joy and had an amazing sense of humor, and I was raised with lots of laughter.  She worked in many areas of the hospital, but spent 28 years in the Emergency Room, where as as I'm sure you know, one often laughs at things that aren't really fun but kind of are.  Survival.  Before the days when people sued everyone about everything, she started the M.O.D. award.  (martyr of the day award.)  I guess I tell you this as, I love to tell stories about my mama as I miss her so, and any goodness in me comes from all the love that she instilled through her example.  If after all this, a shred of that remains, I will consider myself truly blessed.  

 

I love to look at the sky.  I must Google Tasmania.  You know how I feel about the little Devils.

I loved your story about giving the lady a ride home.  I wasn't sure if I should laugh or be worried about you.  I ended up doing both. Yes, we all need to be kind but please don't give rides to strangers any more, OK?  Let people go in front of you in line, definitely, but no driving strangers around.  I don't want to have to worry about you. Hmmmmmmm indeed.......

 

I noticed in your above post you said you almost feel human but were afraid to jinx it.  I know what you mean.  I too would start to feel a little better, wait a few days just to be sure, and then I would post that I was feeling better.  Well, no sooner than I would push send and then I would start to feel worse again. So I can totally relate. I'm sure many others on this site have had that same experience.  I've got my fingers crossed that is not the case for you this time.

 

You are such a wonderful presence here on this site.  I appreciate you and I appreciate you very wonderful writing. Please keep posting, it is my Saturday night entertainment. :)

April 29, 2022 900 mg to 800 mg (11%), May 29, 2022 800 to 700 mg (12.5%), June 20, 2022 700 to 650mg (8%), July 20, 2022 650 to 575 (12%), August 20,  575 to 500 (13%),  Sept 20, 2020 500 to 475mg (5%) Nov 7, 2022 475 to 425 (11%), Nov 21, 2022 500mg

Medications: Gabapentin, Prednisone 1.5mg a day, Cortisol Inhaler daily. 

HISTORY FOR ZOLOFT TAPER

Feb. 2016 to June 2016  - Was on 150mg Zoloft.  Put on Gabapentin at 900mg a day in 2016 due to antidepressant withdrawal. 

Quit Zoloft (Sertraline) June  2016,  reinstated 50mg of Zoloft July 2016.  From July 2016  to October 2016 went from 50 mg down 2.3 mg. I up-dosed in November 2016 to 12.5 mg. Held there until January 2017 when I started a much slower taper.

I know, I know. Poor soul.  You have to feel for people, yes, but from a distance.  

 

When you start feeling better to you get ramped up?  I don't know if I just get so excited to be feeling like a person that I get wired and then can't sleep.  Of course having a wild 9 year old boy who flings his arm in your face, then gets in touch with his inner mule and kicks with the best of them and feels like a heating blanket was not helpful either. 

 

But yes, posted last night, gone today.  Anxiety lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce.  Go away.

 

How is Sunday so far?   Boys are plugged into Minecraft.  I am plugged in here.  Must shower.  Don't know why it seems like such an event but when you don't "have" to bathe right when I get up, it just seems like a monumental occasion.  

 

We are going to try and go to a movie.  If possible, I am going to get my dad too.  Hard to schedule a rendezvous when not communicating with his keepers but gonna try.  Wanted to see Paddington Bear but I think the times conflict so it may be Ferdinand the Bull.  Hopefully, which ever one will be a nice respite.

Just wondered how you were feeling.

 

I have been having nausea.I think it's a combination of my glasses, but also the Vitamin E I take for my liver. I didn't take it yesterday and wasn't nauseous. I took it before bed last night and woke up nauseous this morning. I give up. I eat with it I'm nauseous, I don't eat with it, I'm nauseous. I think I'm going to stop taking it and see what happens. This WD is no fun!

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996. 

 Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

 Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

Hi Frogie,

 

Oh I'm so very sorry about the nausea, that sounds so very frustrating--especially when you try to eliminate it but then end up being nauseous when you eat. Not very easy to feast when you feel rotten.  

 

 How long have you had your new glasses?  Did the dr. indicate about how long it would take before you adjust to the new prescription?  

 

I hope if you eliminate the Vitamin E. that will help and not effect your liver.  

 

Hard to day.  Lots of anxiety.  Yes, I agree.  Withdrawal is indeed no fun.

Yes, she was and I do miss her madly.  Some day you will have mental energy.  Ummm, packing and withdrawal?  We don't want you going mental.  (must be the Queenly "we" as I am watching a show on Queen Victoria.  I should have married a Brit when I had the chance.  Oh, to be a dual national and be able to cavort legally in many different locales.  Well, the mere thought of doing so exhausts me but I must have some goals.  Never been to Australia!

Don’t mean to butt into your conversation. I’m glad you two are making progress. I’m doing a little better. I’m looking into investing in the essential oils? Do they really help?

Oh No, you aren't butting into the conversation!  I still don't understand the particulars of it all but all are welcome.  

 

I have used essential oils in the past, mostly just put them in one of those little mister thingies (don't know the appropriate Christian name.) Also, I just put some in a pan of boiling water.  I'm not sure what S.A. recommends and you might want to do a search on it, but I would start small.  I am very particular about smells so make sure you get one that you like. I did find them pleasant and I was very willing to try.  Might check it out.

Yes, I keep watching and rewatching the Crown on Netflix.  I find it comforting somehow.  

 

The mental comment sounded rather harsh when I re-read it.  Didn't mean it that way at all.  No offense intended.   I just like the way the British say things.  

 

I'm so very glad you had help with your moving.  It is so very exhausting.  I threw away so many things, donated, gave and still had so much.  I am a sentimental saver like my mother before me.  My mother had nearly every National Geographic magazine as well as stacks and stacks of others.  No one wants them anymore. I made my nephews take them to the dumpster.  I had to avert my eyes.  Just made me sad.  That and books.  Oh my gosh, the books.  Shelves and shelves of them.  So many memories kept. 

 

 

Was your mother in law's house like that?  A giant storage area for her and others.  I am now in a small apartment and have one good sized closet which is chalk full of stuff.  I didn't want to get a storage unit but my parents had so much stuff and I just couldn't sort through it all.  Unbearable.  I think a controlled burn would be better.  I am so very tired of stuff.  

 

How goes the day?  I don't know if I was/am trying to catch a bug as I have a headache.  NEVER get them unless I am getting sick but with the current situation, who knows. Sickness will  NOT be accepted.  Also, last p.m., this may be a repeat but my heart.  Oh my gosh!  Rapid fire.  Horrible feeling.  Trying to sleep when you can feel your heart going mad is not so good for slumber.  Better today, thank fully.  Back to the demon anxiety and that black hole.  Ugh.

 

Anyhow, I hope you are getting settled in your temporary quarters and that you have a comfortable bed to sleep in.

Have you heard of Joe Simpson the mountain climber (almost died - he literally did fall into an abyss). He wrote a book which was made into a movie "touching the void" (I recommend it).  In his book he refers to his quest for survival and states "you gotta make decisions.  You gotta keep making decisions, even if they're wrong decisions.  If you don't make decisions, you're stuffed"...I think he's got a point!  We are never going to make the right move every time...but we can't let fear prevent us from making the move.

It's January 17 at 7:34 pm where I live.

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996. 

 Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

 Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

I am not a medical professional.

Well blast!  I CAN calculate percentages very well.  Years of waiting tables, I can tell you how much to tip on any ole' bill.  

But darn.  Here I thought my basic addition skill were decent.  Okay, so if I subtract 5 hours from my current time and add a day, that is you.  I must write this formula down.  It just makes me feel good you know, the "Somewhere Out There" thing.

 

Mind that kettle!  I want you to be safe.  I do however, understand the sacrifices one makes for a proper cup of tea.

 Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

 Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

I do so love ice.  Yes, it is an Americun thing.  And I did once chew it like a rabid gerbil when anemic but now, I think it is just plain old love.

 

Would be a great way to see if I can boost my brain power though....Need all the assistance with that there grey matter.

Wild little Brownie.  One of my favorite books growing up was called The Part Time Dog.  The main character, Brownie, was a little dog who ate breakfast at one house, dinner at another and slept at a third.  Each family (the women of the house were in charge), thought Brownie was someone else's dog.  Then one day the dog catcher took trusting little Brownie to the pokie.  The three ladies adopted Brownie and fenced in their backyards.  So Brownie belonged to all of them.  

I love that story and it still makes me cry....

NEW INFORMATION FOR GABAPENTIN TAPER

April 29, 2022 900 mg to 800 mg (11%), May 29, 2022 800 to 700 mg (12.5%), June 20, 2022 700 to 650mg (8%), July 20, 2022 650 to 575 (12%), August 20,  575 to 500 (13%),  Sept 20, 2020 500 to 475mg (5%) Nov 7, 2022 475 to 425 (11%), Nov 21, 2022 500mg

Medications: Gabapentin, Prednisone 1.5mg a day, Cortisol Inhaler daily. 

HISTORY FOR ZOLOFT TAPER

Feb. 2016 to June 2016  - Was on 150mg Zoloft.  Put on Gabapentin at 900mg a day in 2016 due to antidepressant withdrawal. 

Quit Zoloft (Sertraline) June  2016,  reinstated 50mg of Zoloft July 2016.  From July 2016  to October 2016 went from 50 mg down 2.3 mg. I up-dosed in November 2016 to 12.5 mg. Held there until January 2017 when I started a much slower taper.

Ohhhh hi Rachel, 

 

Wasn't that just the best book?   I still have some of my favorites.  They always bring a smile to my face.

 

Thank you for stopping by my thread (such an odd phrase,)  I was going to mosey over to yours.  It seems that I can only do one conversation at a time as my brain is very picky about keeping a hold of information. 

 

And thank you so much for the compliment.  I so appreciate reading your posts as well.  You have so much wisdom to offer.

 

I went to a yoga class this morning.  A friend invited me as her guest and my body has been rebelling from lack of activity, so why not.  Also, a nice way to get out of the house on a Saturday morning. 

 

I am just NOT a limber girl.  There was one point where I thought I was going to pass out mid-downward dog, thankfully, though, I did not keel over.  My friend said she felt the same way, so at least there was solidarity between us.  I got very shaky at one point, but then so did she.  Strength in numbers.  I didn't mix up my left and right quite as much as usual either and only occasionally was I gazing at everyone whilst they were looking at me.  Kind of like going the wrong way on a one way street I suppose.  Ah, to those small successes. I thought of you as at one point as well.  I was so hot, I was channeling my inner inferno.  Thankfully, the lights were out and no one was near enough to see how drenched I was.  Not a pretty.  The gift of withdrawal.  

 

The boys will be here in a few hours so I am hoping we can go and exhaust some of their surplus energy.  

 

There is a women's march here tomorrow, and I know they will love to go and march.  They love a good party no matter what the cause.  I went last year and it was so very powerful.  I'm hoping the weather is cooperative but no matter.  It is a good cause and a lovely distraction.  

 

How are you faring today?  Feeling okay?  I do hope you are feeling a little relief.  I know you have a big week coming up. 

My symptoms have been a little bit of everywhere of late.  If my brain is busy, and they aren't too overpowering, I am sometimes able to distract myself. That is always the battle, at least for me.  

 

My very dear friend is coming to visit next weekend.  It will be such a treat and will give me something to look forward to.  She will arrive sometime Friday, which is an extra day off.  That will help fill the big void left by no work.  Yeah!

Oh JS, Yes...it's real.  And it's cruel ...so very cruel... "Over all of it" is the perfect description...I've been saying that frequently.  I wish I could give you a big hug and make all the pain take a hike.  And me....blah and meh!!! Aug. 30. 2017 Escitalopram 8.2mg, Sept. 6 Ecitalopram (7.25 tablet) September 28 Escitalopram   (7 mg tablet)   Omega 3's , October 1 Escitalopram (6.25...I think)  November 1, Escitalopram (approx. 5.75mg) December 1 (5mg)  Missed .75 for few days, lowered dose.  W/D ramped up Dec.23;  Escitalopram 4mg tab. .75ml liquid March 5.  Adderall XR 5mg, Synthroid 112mcg  March 23 Escitalopram 4mg tab .50ml liquid.April 23 Escotalopram 4mgtab .25ml liquid Escitalopram dropping .25 every 30 days; July 23, 2018 Escitalopram 3.50mg, Adderall XR 5mg, Synthroid 112mcg 

July 2021:  Took last dose of Escitalopram .02mg.  Do dah!

Current:   Synthroid/Generic 100mcg decreased November, 2018  (TSH has changed 5 times since August 30, 2018 resulting in both Hyper and hypothyroid symptoms.)  November 1, 2018, increased Adderall XR to 10mg to combat brain fog after decrease in Synthroid.
