HAa
20 years on effexor and buspiron due to depression - anxiety. One year on lamotrigin. I started tapering in 2016 because of adverse effect. Effexor 150 mg to 75 mg by addwise from doc. No problems. Next on 37,5 and hell broke loose. Reinstated on 75 and kept it there. While tapering I was sat on lamotrigin 300 mg over a couple of month. No effect! Started tapering buspiron 10 mg x 2 august 2017 and is know on 6+6 Started tapering lamotrigin nov 2017 and is now on200 mg. After reading here I got in doubt. Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted January 17, 2018 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 17, 2018 Hi HAa, Welcome to SA. Sorry for the delay in approving your posts. SA is staffed by volunteers (unrostered). I'm about to head off to work, so I will give you some links below to get you started. I have merged your new topic here. Each member has their own intro topic where they can ask questions and journal their progress. Here are the instructions for the drug signature, which we request all members to do when they join. This is the preferred format: A request: Would you summarize your history in a signature - ALL drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly? Please leave out symptoms and diagnoses. A list is easier to understand than one or multiple paragraphs. Any drugs prior to 24 months ago can just be listed with start and stop years. Please use actual dates or approximate dates (mid-June, Late October) rather than relative time frames (last week, 3 months ago) Spell out months, e.g. "October" or "Oct."; 9/1/2016 can be interpreted as Jan. 9, 2016 or Sept. 1, 2016. How have you been tapering lamotrigine and Buspar? (They are both brakes.) Please stop tapering for now. This is not medical advice. Moderator Emeritus Gridley Posted January 27, 2018 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 27, 2018 Hello, Haa, According to your signature, you are tapering Effexor at a rate of 20% per month. That is too fast and can result in some difficult withdrawal symptoms. At Surviving Antidepressants, it is recommended that a person taper by no more than 10% of their current dose with at least a four week hold in-between decreases. The 10% taper recommendation is a harm reduction approach to going off psychiatric drugs. Some people may have to taper at a more conservative rate as they are sensitive to even the smallest drops. To get you started, and familiarized with the protocols followed by SA, I am linking a few topics so that you have a better understanding of what is recommended here. Before you begin tapering what you need to know What is Withdrawal Syndrome? Why taper by 10% of my dosage? Tips for tapering off Effexor (venlafaxine) If I am reading your signature correctly, you are also tapering Buspiron. As Alto wrote above, please stop tapering Buspiron. We recommend tapering only one drug at a time, in your case that would be the more activating drug, Effexor. Buspiron is a brake and can help you with your Effexor taper. Also, if you taper more than one drug at a time, it will be difficult to identify the cause of any problem that may arise during your taper. This is your introduction topic -- the place for you to ask questions, record symptoms, share your progress, and connect with other members of the SA community. I hope you'll find the information in the SA forums helpful for your situation. I'm sorry that you are in the position that you need the information, but I am glad that you found us. nz11
Well done on having a go at the drug sig. You know what i think we can improve it a little. You might like to change 26.1 to 26 Jan as it makes it clearer What drug is 10mg x2 from 2007...? I'm sorry I'm a bit slow at picking things up. Actually its buspirone isn't it but i had to go searching to find it. Which is why it is great to spell it out in the drug sig. Rather than a post 4 pages prior say. Don't worry i know you didn't post it 4 pages prior ...but in three years it could be 4 pages prior and buried. The easy to follow drug sig have ; date, dose , drug. And when there is a change in dose it is noted with the date. When did you start oxapax? haven't heard of that one ...is it oxazepam? . How long have you been taking this as needed? two months ? 2 years? 5 years? What does 6+6,5 mean? 12.5 mg ? When did you start this drug....1 Jan 2004? The main idea for tapering one at a time, is if you taper more than one drug and have withdrawal reactions we have a problem...who caused it. Who needs an updose? 1 hour ago, HAa said: I read that the ratio between them also matters in how the tapering would give withdrawal symptoms . I don't know so much. This is a bit over my head. But if you have a reference i'll gladly read it. All these psych drugs have withdrawal reactions that's a given regardless of whom they hold hands with and in what ratio to whom. And who knows whose holding hands more tightly to whom and who knows whose the most unhappy camper when it comes time for newfound friends big or small to have to say goodbye. Polypharmacy is very scary imo. Drug-drug interactions haven't been studied extensively. Question: Does pharma care? Answer: What do you think? Drug induced injuries are now the fourth leading course of death in hospital settings. And it cold be argued says Healy that they are the greatest single source of disability in the developed world. The people we trust with our health are (k)illing us. There are some people who see-saw down. You could read the tapering multiple drugs thread. Did you have a read of this thread from cc Taking multiple psych drugs? Which drug to taper first? As suggested to you i think just hold on the tapering until this is sorted: On 1/19/2018 at 4:54 PM, Altostrata said: ...we need to know exactly what you're taking now, the dosages, and when you take each drug. That is another reason for me finding you in order to hopefully being able to taper weiser and hopefully getting less withdrawel symptoms. As far my experience have showed that I might be one of those who will have to go extremely slowly. It is catch twenty two as the Effexor or BusPar now are having adversed effects. So which is which? I do know that when I taper I will have a period of one to two weeks where the anxiety increases extremly. is there a topic where people here discus, share and comfort. If so please could the be joined? When i in august 2017 started reducin buspiron by 10% the anxiety got really bad. Some upset stomeage and Aleppo disturbens. Nov 10 I pausede for 1 month and A half months while tapering lamotrigin by 50 mg to 250 and again 50mg Down 3 weeks koster to 200 mg I take buspiron at 8 oclock in the morning and at 6 PM I take lamotrigin at 8 in the morning And I take effexor 75 mg at 8 oclok I was put on lamotrigin because of rapid moodsvings and was told it should take the downs. But I was only down because the anxiety was getting worse . So it do not do anything for mig now. Of cause I do not know how I would have it now if I did not get it. I started buspiron and Effexor in 1997 at the dosis effexor 75 mg mornings buspiron 10 mg mornings and 10 mg evenings i started tapering because I got more and more anxiety and had thoughts of killing my self and bad sleepdisturbs - waking up every other hour. Then I read here in SA that I should tapering Effexor xr first and that was when I wrote to you and stop tapering the buspiron and lamotrigin and started tapering Effexor xr I reduced first time 18. Jan from 75 mg to 60 mg by counting beats. Is it too late to up dosis to 67,5 mg now? 21. Jam I by mistake reduced buspiron by 0,5 mg to 6 mg mornings and 6, mg evenings. This dosis I was on for 5 days. Then I returned to 6 mg 8 mornings and 6,5 mg 6 o clock evenings . Curently I have unbearable anxiety - crying spells and sleep and wake up serveltimes during the night i have no appetite and eat because I know I must. Thank you for being here. I'm going to assume this is a typo and 15 mg active ingredient weighs 0.049 g on the scale. If yes and based on the info given then to get 62.5mg (62.45mg to be exact) active ingredient remove 0.041 g from the (75mg )capsule. HAa
Sorry I can’t figur it out. And I wrote wrong. 15 mg Effexor is 0,049g so now Insted of taking out 0,049g I took out 0,024g out That will be 10 % insted of 20% Would it not? As 20% was 0,049 mg? I am not very good at this. Getting confused and scared as I can’t figur our if I am doing anything wrong. 10 % of 0,249 mg = 0,049mg If you agree I think I will stick to 10 % price the reduction as that is an easy % to calculate at the moment. HAa
There is 248-249 beats in the capsule. Then I took out 24 beats. The 248-249 beats equals 0.250g The scale is somewhat a little unstable between 0,002-0,005 after I have adjusted it. I assume that 24 beats therefor must be 10 % perhaps I should count the beats as the scale is not fully correct. 1997-2020: Efexor xr BuspPar 2017: Lamotrigine 100mg 8am+6pm 2017-2019: Oxapam 7,5mg max x3 2020: Sertralin 75mg 10pm 2019-2021: Lyrica 150mg 8am+6pm 2021: Start tapering Lyrica 2024: Start tapering Oxapam 2.Febr 2024 Current medication 2.September Lyrica 29mg 8am+6pm on hold Lamotrigine 100mg x2 8am+6pm Sertraline 75mg 10pm Oxapax 2,8mg 8am Liquid solution Link to comment

nz11
16 minutes ago, HAa said: There is 248-249 beats in the capsule. Then I took out 24 beats. The 248-249 beats equals 0.250g The scale is somewhat a little unstable between 0,002-0,005 after I have adjusted it. I assume that 24 beats therefor must be 10 % perhaps I should count the beats as the scale is not fully correct. okay if you want to do this method then 24 beads is approx. 10% so yeah okay remove 24 beads to give a dose of 67.5 mg (being a 10% reduction on the 75mg) nz11 The moneys run out its lights out time ... I'm going to hit the sack. (sorry if that is not translatable!...basically it means goodnight.) Thought for the day: Lets stand up, and let’s speak out , together. G Olsen We have until the 14th. Feb 2018. URGENT REQUEST Please consider submitting for the petition on Prescribed Drug Dependence and Withdrawal currently awaiting its third consideration at the Scottish Parliament. You don't even have to be from Scotland. By clicking on the link below you can read some of the previous submissions but be warned many of them are quite harrowing. http://www.parliament.scot/GettingInvolved/Petitions/PE01651 Please tell them about your problems taking and withdrawing from antidepressants and/or benzos. Send by email to petitions@parliament.scot and quote PE01651 in the subject heading. Keep to a maximum of 3 sides of A4 and you can't name for legal reasons any doctor you have consulted. Tell them if you wish to remain anonymous. We need the numbers to help convince the committee members we are not isolated cases. You have until mid February. Thank you Recovering paxil addict None of the published articles shed light on what ssri's ... actually do or what their hazards might be. Healy 2013. This is so true, with anything you get on these drugs, dependance, tapering, withdrawal symptoms, side effects, just silent. And if there is something mentioned then their is a serious disconnect between what is said and reality! "Every time I read of a multi-person shooting, I always presume that person had just started a SSRI or had just stopped." Dr Mosher. Me too! Over two decades later, the number of antidepressant prescriptions a year is slightly more than the number of people in the Western world. Most (nine out of 10) prescriptions are for patients who faced difficulties on stopping, equating to about a tenth of the population. These patients are often advised to continue treatment because their difficulties indicate they need ongoing treatment, just as a person with diabetes needs insulin.
