MellieMc: Cymbalta / duloxetine

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've been on antidepressants since 1993.  I was on Zoloft until it stopped working.  I am currently on Duloxetene and weaning off.  I am taking it every other day.  When I was first given meds Drs said they weren't addictive.  These are tough to stop.  I'm retired and want to try med free.

Best regards,

Mellie

Hi MellieMc and welcome to SA,

SA recommends tapering by no more than 10% of the current dose with hold of about 4 weeks to allow the brain to adapt to not getting as much of the drug.  Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

The brain likes consistency.  Skipping days is not recommended.  Skipping Days vs Every Day Dosing Graph

Once we have more information about your current dose and how you have tapered we will be able to suggest what dose to take daily.

Tips for tapering off Cymbalta (duloxetine)

Thank you for creating your drug signature, however it would be more helpful if you could provide additional information as per the following.  Please include the dates and the dose changes you made for duloxetine as well as include drug names for 2015.

  • details for last 2 years - dates, ALL drugs, doses
  • summary for older than 2 years - just years and drug/s

Example to follow:

Duloxetine:  dose, date (include year); dose, date; dose, date; etc

Please include the "new" year once when applicable.  Thank you.

Hi MeelieMc,

How are you doing? Have you stopped taking your meds every other day? It’s not a good way to taper, as it destabilises your brain and you may end up in bad withdrawal.

Please let let us know how you’re doing.💚
