MellieMc
Hello, I've been on antidepressants since 1993. I was on Zoloft until it stopped working. I am currently on Duloxetene and weaning off. I am taking it every other day. When I was first given meds Drs said they weren't addictive. These are tough to stop. I'm retired and want to try med free. Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted January 5, 2019 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 5, 2019 Hi MellieMc and welcome to SA, SA recommends tapering by no more than 10% of the current dose with hold of about 4 weeks to allow the brain to adapt to not getting as much of the drug. Why taper by 10% of my dosage? The brain likes consistency. Skipping days is not recommended. Moderator Emeritus Carmie Posted April 21, 2019 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted April 21, 2019 Hi MeelieMc, How are you doing? Have you stopped taking your meds every other day? It’s not a good way to taper, as it destabilises your brain and you may end up in bad withdrawal.
