Moderator Emeritus Sassenach Posted March 14, 2019 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 14, 2019 Updosed from 2.5mgs to 5 mgs of escitalopram 7 days ago as 2.5 was having no effect. I realise that the dose increase is larger than advised on this site but age and circumstances dictate that I need to improve and stabilise my current condition for the present and hope the opportunity to taper of in due case will come. For the moment the last 3/4 days have been much better but I still have Tinnitus, head fog, sore throat and poor appetite. As I quit cold turkey 14 weeks ago I am not sure whether reinstatement has worked or if I am just getting better as time goes by. 1 Escitalopram 10mgs from mid 2007 ( can't remember exact date) to 11th Dec 2018 Fentanyl patches ( don't remember dose ) from Nov 2014 to 11 Dec 2018 Quit both cold turkey Dec 2018 Reinstated 3rd March 2019 2.5 mgs. Moderator Emeritus Sassenach Posted March 24, 2019 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 24, 2019 Two windows in one week plus some other short but good periods. I dare to hope, but tomorrow is another day ( fingers crossed ) 16 weeks since C/T, 2 weeks since reinstating on half dose. A way to go yet but feels a little better most days. Got to see GP shortly which should be interesting as he told me to reinstate full dose. I hope in a couple of weeks I will be confident enough to be sure. Today woke feeling cold and achey, could not get warm, went to dentist still cold, walked 400 metres in sun, still cold, ate lunch went to bed and finally warmed up but felt lousy. Still feel terrible. However thanks to this site I now know that these setbacks are an essential part of healing. So something to look forward to, because tomorrow will be better. Moderator Emeritus Sassenach Posted April 14, 2019 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted April 14, 2019 Saw the GP yesterday and gave him a list of symptoms experienced during the last week, was at pains to stress not all at the same time. Used Dr Glenmullen's list which clearly says symptoms " mimic". Surprise surprise, I am depressed. I gave him copies of newspaper reports, told him radio and television programmes, the Lancet article , information from this site. A quick glance and no comment. He did agree to help when the time comes to taper although there is very little he can do because minimum dose here is 5mgs with no liquid alternative. I will worry about that when I get there as I realise there is a lot of info on here. I do not like conspiracy theories but is beginning to feel as though the GPs have been to told to keep silent while the NHS sorts out the potential implications. I do not believe that they would attend university for 4 years and leave with student debt in order to harm patients, makes no sense. There are easier well paid jobs for folk with their intelligence, which do not carry the risk of law suits. They could also change jobs and employers easily, only one NHS. It does not make sense unless the old joke is true: What is the difference between Doctors and God, God does not think he is a doctor ! I know it has dented my faith in GPs. thecowisback
when we lost our last dog i was bereft. i keep saying i'll never have another one as i can't bear the pain when they go but i often wonder if having a little furry being to take care of would help me through withdrawals. i don't think non-pet owners understand just how much they fill up our lives. i hope you can focus on all the good times you had with yours and take comfort from the fact that he is now at peace. xxxxxxx Took prozac 40 mg for 20 years. Moderator Emeritus Sassenach Posted April 16, 2019 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted April 16, 2019 Thanks I can focus on the good times as he was always happy and loved everyone and other dogs. We still have my wife's ten year old collie so I walk him for exercise, but he is not Mac. I do think a pet is good during withdrawal as they make us stay active and will cuddle up when we feel down. I understand what you mean and just now I cannot imagine having another dog, but whether I can live without a canine companion I doubt. I see you are still at 3.5mgs so hope you are getting better.
