WizeroAim
Hello all,I have been lurking a year and a half. I will tell you my full story at some point but it's pretty similar to a lot of others on here. My issue was social anxiety and panic attacks. I tried Zoloft at 21 and it just delayed ejaculation, and I eventually stopped using it and things returned to normal. At 28 I was having issues with panic again and told my GP, who gave me Citalopram. I didn't realize it was in the same drug class as Zolof...he gave it to me right after telling him I had a bad experience on Zoloft.I LOVED it when I was taking it. I would have done a commercial for it. I didn't have delayed ejaculation...nothing. I had a great sex drive still and enjoyed my life a lot and had no anxiety. After ten months of taking 10mg a day I did as my doctor directed and just stopped taking it. After about a week I entered utter hell, I was shaking and had massive headaches and my sex drive and genital sensation disappeared over the course of a few weeks. I also had hot flashes and my nipples were really sore as this all went down, something I think points to hormone dis regulation.I have been to Mayo clinic. They did and ultrasound of my testicles and ran a few tests but most of the doctors were dismissive and even rude to me. A female urologist was at least understanding and spoke to me about it at length.I'm still going through hell at this point but some things have improved over the course of time. I have tried a few things off and on but there is no one thing I can point to that helped. At first along with the numbness, I had almost immediate premature ejaculation. That has subsided a lot but I still am left with no real libido, soft glans, and a numb crotch and an anhedonic brain. I also have terrible digestion, chronic fatigue, and all the other goodies. I cannot get a buzz from alcohol or get high anymore. I can't feel love for my fiver year old little daughter whom is otherwise my world. I was a very emotional person before all of this. I delighted in simple pleasures and loved poetry and art. Now...ever experience is the same but I am still glad to be alive. I'm here to help. I could eloquently tell you all how much this hurts and talk about my rage and suffering but you already know what that's like. Link to comment

You may be relieved to know you are following a typical arc of recovery from antidepressant withdrawal syndrome. This is a good sign. @Sassenach has asked good questions, please provide more detail. jozeff
Hii Wizero, Thanks for sharing your story and welcome. When did you take your last dose of citalopram (as was asked before :)) This is essential information! I recognize a lot of things you mentioned. Especially the anhedonia and genital numbness and loss of sex drive and also impossible to ejaculate ( I managed to become a daddy for the second time while on a high dose of citalopram which is miraculous in its own way). My wife takes sertraline (zoloft...) which levels out our sex life a bit. I stopped taking effexor three times in my life and the sexdrive came back completely. I am sure your sexdrive and ejaculation problems will return to normal eventually. These things are all managed in the brain of course (hormones, arrousal, negative thinking, hopelessness etc...). You will be fine, it might take a while though. Anhedonia is a big problem for me as well. I used to be excited about things even small things but now it feels like I am just living my life as a robot and sparsely feel some joy. Just negative things effect me a lot but positive things don't. I also had my testicles checked because they got swollen quite often. Don't wear tight underwear, that helped me the most!! If you have sensitive testicles keep them cool and loose, just some advice. Since taking citalopram I had my heart tested 3 times because I thought it was going to explode......ALL STRESS AND TENSION related. I hope you will find benefit here and find some good advice. Most important now is to answer the following!!! On 12/2/2019 at 10:56 AM, Sassenach said: Hi Wizero When did you stop taking Citalopram? What was the bad experience on Zoloft? jozeff
Hi wizeroaim, On 12/4/2019 at 9:20 AM, WizeroAim said: I am one of the worst cases ever, damn. I wish that you guys let me join this forum, at least i can express my frustration before is over. Thanks you You can express your frustration here, I've done it many times. I also feel like I'm one of the worst cases ever, so does my stepmother and my aunt.... These feelings of hopelessness are very real and overwhelming. Your brain is telling you to give up but it's lying, it's just the way it works. Don't blame yourself for not "feeling love for your kid".... You love your kid that's for sure! These feelings are blocked or processed differently because you are in wd. I'm in wd for two years or more and some days I don't feel anything. My baby is laughing, I don't care, my wife doesn't want to have sex with me..who cares, my old mother calls...my sister's cancer cure is finally working out....I don't feel anything! The next day I cry because I love them so much and I feel guilty about the previous day's numbness....never ever had this when not taking ssri. I was always feeling a lot of things. You can return to the feeling human being you were and still are inside. It is very confusing when your mind and your heart tell completely different things. That's what these sh*tty meds do. It's not permanent. Don't loose hope, your kid needs you. You will feel easier a d better. It is not lineair however. You might feel reasonably ok 1 day but feel aweful 3 days in a row. You ARE in wd! I've read hundreds of posts about people struggling longer than you are after CT. A lot of them have recovered but it's a rough road. Look for Douglas Bloch on YouTube. He has some great videos about suicidal ideation, recovering from depression etc. I learned 1 thing from him. When you think you are going to kill yourself just say:" no way, not today!" every time. If you manage to do this you will be 60 before you know it... Good luck and let us know how you are Cheers Jozeff 2 Sep- 2016 - Okt 2017 citalopram some months 15 mg some months 20 mg Nov 2017- Apr 2018 citalopram 25 mg Apr 2018 - Jun 2018 citalopram 3 month TAPER too fast from 25mg to 16.5 mg (0.1 mg per day decrease, felt horrible and crashed) Jun 2018 - Aug13th 2018 citalopram trying to stabilize at 16.5 mg for 5 wks, updosed to 18 mg - 14Aug 2018 - 26apr 2019 citalopram 18 mg, hold 8 months 2019 apr 27 : START taper citalopram @ 18 mg: 29Jun 16.4 mg / 19aug 15.4 mg / 25aug 15.2 mg / 30sep 14.0 mg / 4dec 13.1 mg 2020 03Jan 12.75 mg / 28Jan 12.29 mg / 18Feb 11.83 mg, 25Feb 11.68 mg hold.. / 7May 11.33 mg hold...., 4Aug 10.98 mg / 5Dec 10.0 mg 4 month hold... 2021 30mar 9.8 mg / 06apr 9.5 mg / 13apr 9.4 mg / 14may 8,5 mg / 04jun 8,0 mg / 11jun 7.75 mg, 02jul 7.35 mg / 09jul 7.2 mg hold 3 weeks during holiday /31jul 7 mg/ 8aug 6.8 mg / 15aug 6.63mg / 22aug 6.5mg / 1sep 6.3 mg / 8sep 6.15 mg / 15sep 6.0 mg / 22sep 5.9 mg / 29sep 5.8 mg / 04 oct 5.65 mg / 10oct 5.55 mg / 17oct 5.45 mg / 24oct 5.35mg / 30oct 5.25 mg hold 3 wks / 22nov 5.15 mg / 01dec 5.1mg / 12dec 5.0mg / 20dec 4.85mg / 30dec 4.70mg 2022 08jan 4.5 mg / 16jan 4.4 mg / 23jan 4.3 mg / 27jan 4.2 mg / 18feb 4.1 mg / 25feb 4.0 mg / 04mar 3.9 mg / 11mar 3.75 mg / 18Mar 3.65 mg / 09apr 3.55 mg / 16apr 3.45 mg / 23apr 3.35 mg / 01may 3.25 mg / 8may 3.15 mg / 17may 3.10 mg / 28 may 3.0 mg / 7jun 2.94 mg / 18 Jun 2.88 mg / 27 jun 2.84 mg / 05 jul 2.80 mg / 16 jul 2.75 mg / 23 jul 2.70 mg / 01aug 2.65 mg / 09aug 2.60 mg hold 5wks / 18sep 2.55 mg / 25sep 2.5 mg /02oct 2.45 mg / 10oct 2.40 mg / 19oct 2.35 mg / 27oct 2.30 mg / 05nov 2.27 mg / 14nov 2.25 mg / 22nov 2.20 mg / 29nov 2.10mg / 09dec 2.05 mg / 15dec 2.0 mg 2023 hold 2.0 mg for 5 months / 05may 1.95 mg / 14may 1.90 mg / 24may 1.87 mg / 02jun 1.85 mg / 17jun 1.82 mg / 27jun 1.79 mg / 07jul 1.75 mg / 31jul 1.72 mg / 12aug 1.69mg / 27aug 1.67 mg / 04sep 1.65 mg / 09sep 1.63 mg / 22sep 1.61 mg / 27sep 1.60 mg / 12oct 1.58 mg / 18oct 1.56 mg / 31oct 1.54 mg / 06nov 1.52 mg / 18nov 1.50 mg / 04dec 1.48 mg / 11dec 1.46 mg / 22dec 1.45 mg / 28dec 1.44 mg 2024 01jan 1.43 mg / 06jan 1.42 mg/ 10jan 1.40 mg hold / 08apr 1.38 mg / 15apr 1.36 mg / 20apr 1.34 mg / 28apr 1.33 mg / 2may 1.32 mg / 9may 1.30 mg hold / micro taper 0.002 mg/day start 17jun / 27jun 1.28 mg / 06jul 1.26 mg / 29jul 1.20 mg / 24aug 1.14 mg / 02sep 1.12 mg / 10sep 1.10 mg / 17sep 1.08 mg / 23 sep 1.06 mg / Link to comment

Rozon1
@WizeroAim when you say you can’t feel your genitals, are they completely numb? Like you only feel pressure but have no sensitivity on them? Example: 2018 - Started Effexor 37.5 in Janurary of 2018 2019 January, 2nd - Cold Turkeyed from Effexor for 3 days. Reinstated on the third day, then stabilized(It took 3 months to stabilize) 2019 June - I switched from Effexor instant release to Extended Release 37.5 for better tapering. I tapered to 50% in 4 weeks before reinstating my dosage back to 37.5(due to withdrawls). I waited 2 months to stabilize but never did at 37.5 2019 September - continued to taper in to 25% on extended release 2019 October - continued to taper to half of the beads(18.75mg)... WIthdrawls were so bad I tried switching back to the instant release at the same dosage(18.75mg) 2019 November 28th - Discontinued effexor at 18.75 without anymore tapering. 2020 January - Just can't sleep, have constipation, low libido and still lack of full emotion Link to comment
Parisien
Hello, anything new since? Your premature ejaculation? Hello everyone, I was on seroplex 10mg in October 2019 for over a year and then on brintellix from March to September for maybe 8 months. I made several attempts to stop abruptly then I resumed the treatment of brintellix recently for a few weeks because it was too difficult to stop. Symptom when stopped: premature ejaculation, ejaculation with less orgasm. Severe insomnia, transient headaches, sensitivity to noise and light. Last intake of brintellix 5mg: Saturday, September 11, 2021 Link to comment
