Pilar Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Hello Everyone: A group of people affected by psychiatric medication is moving a petition to make the Spanish Government approved a law that will benefit a lot of people in the field of mental health. The law was proposed by a party called Unidos Podemos, part of the Spanish Government is working in a coalition with people of this party but this proposed law hasn't been approved yet since it was proposed ( March 2019). The key points of the petition are explained and translated into the English language in the second part of the text, you could read and sign if you want to help. This is a Worldwide matter and our voices have to be heard. https://www.change.org/p/gobierno-que-se-apruebe-en-el-congreso-la-proposición-de-ley-de-derechos-en-el-ámbito-de-la-salud Thank you so much, Pi Had at almost the same time the following medications: amitriptyline 10mg : On = 10th of March 2018, Off= 20th May 2018 cipralex 5mg ( escitolopram) : On = 25th April 2018, Off= 20th May 2018 Had to stop them abruptly due to side effects, now I'm suffering withdrawal
Pilar Posted February 22, 2020 Author Posted February 22, 2020 I will sum up what the petition is about: 1. No one would be forcibly locked up against their will in a mental health facility. People who want to stay in a psychiatric center would be of their own accord not after being detained by the national police. 2. No one would be forced to take psychiatric drugs against their will. At the moment, there are people who are forced to get injections every month or every three months and if you do not do so they force you into a psychiatric center. 3. People who want to stop psychiatric drugs should be supported by the psychiatrist. And they will be allowed to come off them little by little. 4. No one will be tied up in a psychiatric center. 5. No one will be forced to electroshock. 6. No one will be required to take psychiatric drugs when the drug harms their health. Parkinson's, dyskinesia, dystonia. Akathisia, sexual problems, etc, develop because of this. 7. There would be a mental health user Ombudsman in each community. 8. The culture of mental health problems needs to change and cease to be pessimistic in favor of an optimistic view. Anyone can recover from their mental health problem.
