lxjuice Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 What was your experience in using any antifungal tablets except for terbinafine whilst tapering or just being sensitive to med changes? Which psych meds were you on? If your doctor made a temporary dose adjustment to your psych meds to account for the interaction with the antifungal, how did you find it? Hopefully somebody has experience with this. Dx: complex PTSD Discontinuation/taper history: sertraline, trazodone, prazosin, mirtazapine, diazepam Took 200mg quetiapine for 0.5 years and 150mg for 1.5 years until 01/2020. Now microtapering daily at an overall rate of 12.5mg/month.
Repent Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 (edited) I did, i took two kinds for an agressive candida and omg, i wish i hadnt. It got so much worse, the candida got worse, the wd, everything. Its 18 months since i took em.. And I regret it everyday. I still have candida on and off, not as bad. But i guess theres nothing to do but to wait it out.. Maybe its part of wd since i got it first like 2 months after CT Lexapro. Edited August 9, 2020 by ChessieCat reformatted text 2008 - Setralin 150mg, CT after 1 year. 2015 - Venlafaxin 150mg. CT after 1 month. 2016 - Brintellix 100mg, CT after 2 years.2018 January - Mirtazapin 25 mg, CT after 1 month. Mars - Setralin 100 mg. CT after 1 month. August- Lexapro 5 mg. CT after 1 month, adverse reaction. Stopped all benzo, sleeping pills here too. 2019 January - Took fluconazol and itraconazol, strong reaction, like bein floxed. January - Used progesteronecream 200mg a day for 1 month. Severe reaction month 2 so i stopped (maybe built up cream in tissues?) April - Took plan-B, this messed me up the most.

Do you know which antifungal you took? 21 minutes ago, ChessieCat said: @lxjuice What fungal issue are you needing to treat? Ringworm. Terbinafine is the obvious choice since it doesn't interact with anything I'm on but it's resistant. So we're left with the azoles which interact a lot with basically everything. I may just have to put up with it and hope another 6 months of cycling creams will get rid of it. Product insert for quetiapine says to reduce dose to a sixth when taking an azole.... Possibly the most imprecise science I've ever heard. Moderator Emeritus composter Posted August 10, 2020 Moderator Emeritus Posted August 10, 2020 (edited) Interesting! I wouldn’t be surprised if antifungals exacerbated withdrawal symptoms. Awhile back I used a ketoconazole shampoo (topical antifungal) for dandruff and went through a bad wave soon after. Not sure if it was connected but I’ve stayed away from antifungals since. I agree with Chessie, I’d look into other remedies for the ringworm. Perhaps there are herbals like oregano you can take. Edited August 10, 2020 by composter Apr 2018: Began 10 mg Amitriptyline (for headaches & insomnia from concussion). Jul - Aug 2018: Fast taper to 5 mg and then 2.5 mg (too fast, hellish withdrawal at 2.5 mg). Sept 2018: Reinstated 10 mg (many symptoms improved). Oct 2018 - Apr 2019: Updosed & stabilized on 11 mg (2 waves at 3 and 5 months post-withdrawal). Apr 2019 - Apr 2020: Tapered 0.5-0.25 mg per month using compounded pills: 11 mg —> 6 mg. (2 waves at 12 and 16 months post-withdrawal.) Apr 2020 - present: Switched to a liquid taper at rate of 0.1 mg per month. Currently: 1.1 mg. No more waves. Supplements: Omega-3 fish oil, Vit B12, coenzyme Q10, Hawthorn extract (for tachycardia) Tools for insomnia/waves (as needed): Epsom salt foot soaks, 0.5 mg Melatonin, quality time, waves WILL PASS. Lifestyle: Eat real foods, mostly plants; sunlight, walking, yoga; symptom tracking on adapted Glenmullen chart.
