I was put on olanzapine after a manic episode following prednisone.  I had tremors dizziness blurry vision and disassociation while on it and after stopping.  Started in June 2021 and was on 10 mg for a week and then 5 mg for 5 days. Had horrible nightmares night sweats tremors depressed mood dizziness amd headache when I stopped.  Was put on gabapentine to help was only on that for 15 days.  When I stopped that 100mg once a day I had WD. I am very sensitive to meds.  I really want the dizziness and headaches to end does anyone know how long this will last or if this is permanent? Never have taken any psych meds before and am worried this will never go away.  Was very healthy before all of this.

Hi, Maggie.

Welcome to Surviving Antidepressants.

The good news is that even though these symptoms can last a long time, there's no reason to think it's permanent. Following a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, gentle exercise, and spending time in nature can all go a long way to speed up the process.

It sounds like you're completely off all drugs now, is that correct? Are you currently taking any supplements?

We don't recommend a lot of supplements, as many members report their nervous systems are simply too fragile to handle them. However, magnesium and fish oil tend to be calming to the nervous system and many people report they do help. Please only add in one supplement at a time and at a small dose. For more, please see:

  • Any drugs and supplements prior to 24 months ago can just be listed with start and stop years.
  • Please use actual dates or approximate dates (mid-June, Late October) rather than relative time frames (last week, 3 months ago)
  • Spell out months, e.g. "October" or "Oct."; 9/1/2016 can be interpreted as Jan. 9, 2016 or Sept. 1, 2016.
  • Please leave out symptoms and diagnoses.

Are you seeing any improvements at all over the past few weeks or months?

Hi @Maggie10, how are you going?

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to recover from such a short bout with olanzapine.  How long were you on the prednisone for, and how much?  Please fill out your signature with this info as per shep's instructions...thanks.
