I've been a member in Surviving AD but have not posted.   Now that Lyrica Survivors will be shutting down I will be more active here.

 

After a 16 month taper off 1400 mg gabapentin I took my last dose January 1, 2022.  It took me 3 months to do the last 30 mg.

 

One week after last dose (of 1 mg.) got a culture confirmed UTI.  Took Keflex & a Ceftriaxone shot.  Horrid pain with knife-like bladder pain and pressure, urethral pain and vulvar burning for 3.5 weeks after even with no more infection.

 

Previously cold turkeyed (super fast taper) gabapentin (doses from 2,700 mg to  3,600 mg) in 2015 followed by similar symptoms that were delayed several months.  Reinstated G almost a year later.

Was completely unaware gabapentin should not have been stopped so fast and still didn't know it was the gabapentin withdrawal at the time I reinstated.   It was true Hell.  Info on internet says taper over a couple weeks, I think.  Slow tapered off a benzo prior to gabapentin taper.

 

Gabapentin taper itself was not bad.  Post taper has been extremely bad and non-stop.

 

I am now having awful lower back and sacrum and hip pain.   Present thinking is gabapentin withdrawal is attacking my Tarlov cysts and areas previously affected by endometriosis (30 years ago) and its surgeries and scar tissue and adhesions.

 

Today marks about 5 weeks from my very last dose of gabapentin.  Please help!
