BananaBoy: Hello

Hi,

I’ve been on Lexapro for about a year. Decided to get off it for various reasons. Too bad I did not know about this website before I went too fast. Went from 10 mg to 7.5mg without any issues. Then I went to 5, with minor adjustment period, maybe a few days and I was back to normal. After that I spoke with my doc and he said since it’s below therapeutic dose it is safe to just stop. So I did. I was fine first few days. Then brain zaps, tiredness and brain fog set it. It has been two weeks now. Brain zaps have reduced quite a bit. Tiredness is on and off, interestedly, coffee makes it worse. Brain fog is also on and off. If I don’t have to wake up to alarm for work, I can think clearly. Otherwise it’s a torture to think.
mat this point I’m thinking to keep pushing through, as I can mostly function, although sometimes not effectively.

Welcome to SA. We are a volunteer run site helping people taper off psychotic medications, or have tapered off and are now healing.

This is your introduction page where you will receive information, ask questions and meet other members. We ask that you only have one introduction page so we can keep all your information in one place.

Can you please create a signature. That makes it much easier for all the moderators to see the medications you are/have been on.

Instructions:  Withdrawal History Signature

You are 100% correct that your dr had you taper off way too fast. Most dr's don't know how to taper off these medications and believe when you have withdrawal symptoms you will need to be on them for life.

Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

Brain Remodelling

You could try a reinstatement of 0.5 mg and see if that would help with the wd symptoms. You would hold for about 10 days as that is the timeframe for it to enter the bloodstream and body. It could always be adjusted if necessary.

Tips for tapering off escitalopram (Lexapro)

We don't suggest supplements on here except 2 because they can be stimulating to the nervous system. If you would like to try one, try a small amount and wait a few days before introducing the other.
