ryan1982
Hey all, I searched and I couldn't find this one. Since I had my setback, I've been suffering from both misophonia (hatred of sound), which I've always had, and misokinesia (hatred of movement), which is a new one for me. I've always disliked people fidgeting but even seeing the slightest repetitive movement is enough for me to look away. I have trouble watching hands move and feet move as well. Anyone have this extremely strange symptom and did it go away? https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/noises/202201/misokinesia-misophonia-and-mirror-neurons 1 2005- 2008: Lorazepam (max dose- 1 MG daily) 2008- 2016: Lexapro (max dose-10 MG daily) January 2017- March 2017- Pristiq (max dose- 100 MG daily) April 2017- June 2017: Trintellix (max dose- 10 MG) July 2017- October 2017: Lexapro (max dose-10 MG daily) November 2017- April 2018- Luvox (max dose- 100 MG) May 2018- Zoloft (max dose- 18.75) 5/28/18- 3 MG Lexapro, 6/3/18- 3 MG Lexapro, 6/7/18- 3.5 MG Lexapro, 6/13/18- 4 MG Lexapro, 6/21/18- 4.5 MG Lexapro, 6/28/18- 3/29/21- 4 MG Lexapro, 3/30/21- Present- 3.8 MG Lexapro **Bad Wave Caused by Trileptal 150 MG (one pill) in December '20 and Low Dose Naltrexone .12 MG (one pill) in April '21** "The Journey is The Reward"
Ariel
Hi @ryan1982 Interesting post. I'd never heard the term misokinesia. I'm sorry you're suffering from this. It sounds incredibly inconvenient. I can relate to the extent that I've experienced something somewhat similar. For a period of time I had a lot of difficulty with movement (I cannot say I hated it). When there was movement around me (e.g. fidgeting) it had an agitating effect on my nervous system. I'd feel a sense of unease. I also had trouble looking at movement, be it on a screen or birds flying or traffic. I came to realize that this was directly related to the various vision issues I was experiencing. Sometimes certain symptoms are experienced as one thing emotionally/cognitively, e.g. discomfort with motion, when the underlying cause/symptom is sensory, e.g. visual processing challenges. I am happy to say this has all resolved. I have faith that it'll pass for you, too. It just takes time. 1 1996-2018 - misc. polypharmacy, incl. ryan1982
Hey @Ariel- Thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes, I can’t say that I hate them as well- that’s just what misokinesia translates to. Absolutely though- visual processing challenges is absolutely right. Did those symptoms gradually fade or did you wake up and they were gone? 2005- 2008: Lorazepam (max dose- 1 MG daily) 2008- 2016: Lexapro (max dose-10 MG daily) January 2017- March 2017- Pristiq (max dose- 100 MG daily) April 2017- June 2017: Trintellix (max dose- 10 MG) July 2017- October 2017: Lexapro (max dose-10 MG daily) November 2017- April 2018- Luvox (max dose- 100 MG) May 2018- Zoloft (max dose- 18.75) 5/28/18- 3 MG Lexapro, 6/3/18- 3 MG Lexapro, 6/7/18- 3.5 MG Lexapro, 6/13/18- 4 MG Lexapro, 6/21/18- 4.5 MG Lexapro, 6/28/18- 3/29/21- 4 MG Lexapro, 3/30/21- Present- 3.8 MG Lexapro **Bad Wave Caused by Trileptal 150 MG (one pill) in December '20 and Low Dose Naltrexone .12 MG (one pill) in April '21** "The Journey is The Reward"
Ariel
Hi @ryan1982 The various symptoms related to visual processing challenges gradually improved over time. That, and I learned to accept and live with them. Probably by the time they were significantly better I no longer noticed them anyway, or barely. I've written about this in more detail elsewhere on the site, see rebeccaannxo's thread for reference: https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/26034-rebeccaannxo-adverse-reaction-to-lexapro/#comment-586617 Lexapro is a potent one. It looks like you are doing a very slow taper, which is a wise choice. Best of luck to you, A, 1 1996-2018 - misc. polypharmacy, incl.
