Betty13: reinstatement of mirtazapine

Hello fellow warriors !

firstly how amazing is this web site is, I feel like this is such important information that is not known by many and I’m so great full I found it!

i just have a question im hoping to get some feedback for…

im currently on Effexor (300mg)

Lamatrogine (200mg)

and mirtazapine 45mg( a lot I know) for MDD.

I desperately want off these drugs and decided to taper the mirtazapine first.

I did this by reducing by 10%

And the started the process a year ago, things seemed to go very well and I go down to 3.5mg before jumping off2 months ago…

I thought I’d conquered Everest until I hit 4 weeks off mirtazapine and was hit with WD like a steam train

Debilitating depression, anexity, inner tension, loss of appetite, and apathy being the major symptoms.

so I went back on7.5 mg of the mirtazapine ( not realising this was probably to big of a reinstatement dose)

anyway symptoms were gone after about 2 days and I was feeling hopeful Once again …

that was until a few days ago when I’ve seen these symptoms return ( particularly worse in the morning )

so after reinstatement  of 7.5 I had about 4 weeks relief…

just not sure where to go now?
do I increase my dose a small amount? Or decrease?

Any input would be appreciated

thanks…

Hello all

just After some in sight / advice ( I understand this isn’t doctors advice but I’m really stuck with what to do?)

been trying to taper from mirtazapine

Over the past 12 months using 10% drops in dose

All went well and I thought I was one of the lucky ones, until I hit the 4 week mark ( off mirtazapine)and was overwhelmed with WD symptoms

the main one being unbearable depression…

I decided I needed to reinstate the mirtazapine and started to take 7.5 mg-( I’ve now realised this was probably to much)

although it seemed to do the trick at first ( about 4 weeks) I now am going through WD again and am unsure what to do… should I add another small increase to get me through?

or decrease?

any thoughts would be appreciated

thanks for your help 🙂

You may be getting not only withdrawal from the mirtazapine, but also side effects of the Effexor, especially if mirtazapine was added in order to help with sleep. Please see:

As you tell us more about your drug history, we can help you set up a game plan for stabilizing and then for tapering off this cocktail.

@Betty13 I merged your second introduction thread in with the first. Please continue to use this thread to ask questions about your taper. Only one Intro per person. Thank you.
