@FeralCatmanThanks for posting this. I think it's important to push back against this type of cruelty. 

 

I saw this on a recent Democracy Now! episode. There are organizations pushing back, which is good.

Of course, replacing cops with "mental health" professionals is also problematic, as Noel Hunter wrote about a couple of years ago:

No easy answers, but it's good to give voice to those who will suffer the consequences of these actions because if rents keep going up, we all may end up in such circumstances.

This is why I am so glad to find out that the state I live in allows Psychiatric Advance Directives. I will be filling mine out today and taking it to my attorney to get notarized and added to my file in his office. A copy of it will be on my medic alert bracelet medical file.

This is another option I just became aware of to protect your rights in the case of forced hospitalization.

It's absolutely horrible what they want to do. I am very happy to see there has been such a huge push back. I hope that push back continues because the mayor of NYC seems pretty adamant about pushing forward. The state of California is also trying to move forward with a similar agenda. It's a very slippery slope.

 

Makes me glad I live alone in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of cats and that I live in a state that allows Psychiatric Advance Directives. Mine will be signed and on record Wednesday morning 😁

 

There is a town in Michigan that had a cat on the ballot for mayor among other animals The cat won. Perhaps it's time to do the same nationwide.
