This book will be released on February 21, 2024.  It was written by David Taylor and Mark Horowitz.  Hopefully this book will become the Gold-Standard for all prescribers in the future.  

 

Comprehensive resource describing guidelines for safely reducing or stopping (deprescribing) antidepressants, benzodiazepines, gabapentinoids and z-drugs for patients, including step-by-step guidance for all commonly used medications, covering common pitfalls, troubleshooting, supportive strategies, and more.

Disclaimer:  This is not professional medical advice but is based on personal experience only.

1994 - 2017:  Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Seroquel, Buspar, Lorazepam, Xanax, Ambien

2005-present:  Trazodone 50 mg 

2017:  Effexor XR 37.5 >> 75 mg 

2020 (March):  Began 10% monthly taper of Effexor XR (got down to 12 mg)

2021 (September):  Completely crashed.  Went back up to 37.5 mg but in doing so I kindled myself

2024:  1/1:  35.6 mg (-6 beads)  |  2/1:  33.8 mg (-11 beads)  |  3/1:  32.1 mg (-16 beads)  |   4/1:  (-18 beads)

Reasons for starting psych meds:  PMDD/Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Other medications:  Levothyroxine 75 mcg

Supplements:  Dr. Berg's Electrolyte Powder on occasion

2008-2012: Cymbalta, Zyprexa, Valium (5 days supply),

2012 - Seroquel x 4 weeks C/T. 

2014 - Seroquel x 2 Weeks C/T. Crossed to Risperidone 3mg for 6months until December.

2014 - Stopped Risperidone. Xfer > Anti-Depressant 200mg Zoloft and 6mg Clonazepam. 

2018 - 150mg Clomipromine changed Anti-depressant. Tapered Benzo to 1mg Clonazepam. 2019 - xfer to 20mg Diazepam. 

 

Currently:

Anafranil: 75mg. 17th Dec 2022 70mg. 27th Dec 22: 75mg, 14 January 23': 70mg. 16-26th January: 50mg (too fast drop no sleep). Jan 28th 2023: 70mg. 20 Feb 2023: 65mg. 11/06: 60mg 9/08: 55mg 15/08/23 : 50mg
3/03/2024: 60mg (Updose) 25/04: 57.5mg

 

        Diazepam (V): 25th Oct 2019' 20mg. 22 Dec 19' 19mg. 04 Apr 2020' 18mg,  30 September 20' 17.5mg , 13 Nov 2020' 17mg. 01 January 2021: 16mg, 13th Aug 21' 15mg. 1st Nov' 2021 14.5mg. 1st Dec' 2021 14mg. 13 January 2022: 13.5mg, 11 Feb: 13mg.  11 April 22' 12.5mg, 12 May 22': 12mg, 6th September 2022: 11mg Valium. 9th October: 10.5mg, 25th Oct 10mg. 12 March 23: 9.5mg 2 April: 9.25mg 23 April: 9mg 12/05: 8.75 26/05: 8.5 12/09: 8.25 21/09: 8.5. 3/10: 8.25 17/10: 8mg 20th Nov Brassmonkey: (7.9.,7.8, 7.75) 5 Feb: 7.25mg. 23 Feb: 7mg 

*.      Have tried to go at faster rate than 0.5mg but is currently too fast.

Does anyone have a copy I can borrow?  I want to read the Cymbalta chapter. I'm at the very end of my taper and want to learn everything I need to know about the final stages.  It is too expensive for me to buy now. 

2017 Feb- stoke-like neurological attack in conflict zone overseas, followed by migraine & cluster headaches & nausea only relived by amnitripaline 

2017 Nov- tapered off amnitripaline bc gained 20lbs & back in USA. Taper over 2 weeks

2018 Jan- went on Wellbutrin bc started having panic attacks and headaches

2018 March- switched to 60mg cymbalta bc Wellbutrin gave crazy anxiety

2018- positive ana / lupus symptoms, insomnia ever since 

2022- suicidal ideation & decided to taper cymbalta 

2023 April- started taper from 60mg, dropping 10mg/ month

2023 May- diagnosed w/ hashimotos & liver enzymes high from cymbalta 

2023 September- migraines came back so held at 20mg, stablized in Nov, liver enzymes excellent tho from tapering

2023 Dec 27- dropped to 15mg cymbalta, currently here

 

also intermittently tried trazadone and adderall. Traz either didn’t help me sleep or made me sleep but couldn’t wake up next morn. Adderall made me nauseous and gave me headaches. So never took either consistently and just stopped using both bc I never took daily. Was fine after stopping both. As a teen was on accutane twice and long courses of antibiotics for acne. Getting gut microbiome test done now. Tested negative for sibo. Have deviated septum and some sleep apneas. Have tmj and chronic neck pain. Pain in lower back and hips from running/ water polo labral tears.

I just bought the Kindle book for 50$. It was taking a month for Amazon to ship to India.

2014-2019: Clomipramine 12.5mg to 50mg and Tramadol 100mg twice a week, 2019-2020: Clomipramine 50mg and Tramadol 150mg alternate day. 2021-2022: Clomipramine 50mg and Tramadol 150mg-200mg daily, 2022 mid-April: Stopped Clomipramine and Tramadol cold turkey
2022 mid-May: Started Amytriptaline 50mg and tapered over 2 weeks, 2022 mid-June: Took 40mg Cymbalta for 2 days and stopped
2022 mid-June: Taking Clonazepam .25mg to .5mg for sleep and anxiety for about a week., 2022 early July - present: Taking Clonazepam .25mg.
2022 Aug: Escitalopram 2.5mg titrated to 10mg (over 3 weeks), 2022 Aug: Escitalopram 5mg for 10 days, 4.5mg for 10 days, 4.25mg for 5 days
2022 Sep: Escitalopram 4.25mg for 5 days, 4mg for 5 days and then CT, Sep 2002: Fluoxetine 10mg for 5 days | Sep 2022: Fluoxetine 20mg for 9 days. | Oct 2022:  Fluoxetine 30mg for 20 days. | Oct 2022: Fluoxetine 40mg for 46 days
Nov to Dec 2022: Clonazepam(0.25mg morning, 0.5mg afternoon and 0.5mg night; TOTAL of 1.25mg) for 36 days
Dec 2022: Clonazepam 'tapered' over a  week. Replaced with Etizolam. Etizolam(0.5mg) for some days and then Etizolam(1.5mg CR and 0.5mg), Quetiapine(12.5mg) and Mirtazapine(7.5mg). Vortioxetine(10mg) for 6 days, Vortioxetine(20mg) for 22 days.
Jan/Feb 2023: Admitted to psych ward for a month for excessive anxiety and suicidal ideation. Stopped Vortioxetine, Mirtazapine & Quetapine CT and started Venlafaxine 37.5mg, Olanzipine 2.5mg for weeks and then increased to 5mg and Etizolam 2mg. After 3 week, Venlafaxine CTed (due to random body jerks) and replaced with Clomipramine 25mg (due to new diagnosis of OCD). | Mar-mid 2023: Clomipramine gradually increased to 50mg & Etizolam slowly tapered to .75mg
Early-mid 2023: Taper of all three started. Currently at Clomipramine ~42.5mg, Olanzapine ~3.382mg, Etizolam .75mg

Sep 2023: Clomipramine ~42.5mg, Olanzapine ~3.382mg, Etizolam .625mg, Valium 1.25mg

Feb 2024: Clomipramine 30.667mg, Olanzapine ~2.055mg, Etizolam .388mg, Valium 1.773mg

April 2024: Clomipramine 27.7mg, Olanzapine 1.6 mg, Etizolam .346mg, Valium 1.648 mg

What does it say about Cymbalta specifically?
