this is an idea worth getting out there (birthing as done these days is traumatic!) and is not often talked about explicitly...medical care is often traumatic and there is now an extensive body of work showing that invasive and intrusive medical care of all kinds can lead to PTSD and long term mental health issues. I have now heard far too many of

these stories.

 

and particular to this board...women in these circumstances are almost always given SSRIs and often a cocktail involving other psych meds too.
