I am withdrawing very slowly but noticing sensations/perceptions that are unsettling. They aren't incapacitating, just disturbing and making me feel much older than I am. And I can't pinpoint or describe them very well. They just feel strange. Simply changing lanes on the beltway has become a bigger deal! I've read that this will pass in time, which is what I'm praying for. Keep telling myself that when this is all over I will feel better than ever in my life. Anyone have tips for dealing with this? Current: *Abt 1995, started fluoxetine 20 mg/day, later raised to 40 mg; *Abt 1997, started Klonopin ? mg/day *Abt [??] started first, very slow Klon taper *Sept 2016, Klon updosed; swapped fluox for duloxetine/lamotrigine/Seroquel (very small dose of last, for sleep) cocktail *Early 2018, stopped Seroquel; *2020, started second Klon taper *Abt July 2022, accidental 33% Klon cut, w/no updose; have been holding for 15 mos *Mar 2023, abrupt lamotrigine cut from 75- to 50 mg/day; *May-June 2023, abrupt dulox cut from 90 mg- to 60 mg/day *As of June 2023, taking lamotrigine 50 mg/day, duloxetine 60 mg/day, Klonopin .25 mg/day, metoprolol 50 mg/day, Eliquis 5 mg/day, levothyroxine 75 mcg/day "Forget to remember; remember to forget." Somehow I powered through them and they gradually subsided. They have not occurred in my most recent wave. So take heart, they do subside! I was just super careful and limited my driving as much as I could. A plus is that I have no freeway driving where I live and travel, just surface roads or limited access for short distances on a few roads. I have been in such a fog that, for a while, I didn't even realize that my driving was affected. I am only 51 and was starting to get scared that aging was setting in super-early. Am now recognizing many of the withdrawal symptoms discussed here. And while they're not fun, it's such a relief to know they are normal and expected when getting off an SSRI. I've noticed that when I'm driving my perception is just that little bit off. Its enough to make me uncomfortable. It does settle. I too live in an area of mostly back roads and avoid the highway. I also don't drive at night anymore. I've also noticed that I am very easily distracted and have to be more vigilant when I drive. It waxes and wanes too. A little extra caution goes a long way. Current: Lorazapam: 2mg: 4/9/15: 2mg - 1.5mg: already sick/nothing noticed. No changes in sleep noted after illness. Lamictal: 7/27/13 - 8/6/13: 400mg - 500mg(dr order) mouth sores, headache, cognitive/balance, heart palp...8/7/13 - 8/23/13: 500mg - 400mg; symptoms↓...10/10/13: 350mg; fever/flu-like <2-weeks...12/30/13: 325mg; fever/flu-like symptoms <1-week...2/10/17: 300mg; no significant changes noted. It waxes and wanes too.Yes...that's a great way to put it. I feel easily distracted and like something is different about my attention and focus. And the visual/spatial element is there...lane markers somehow look or feel different, and the flow of motion of the car and the traffic.Am trying to be more aware of withdrawal effects so I can take care of myself and know what I need to do differently, without dwelling too much on the sadness or dismay or anger of vulnerability of having to go through this. If I ruminate, it gets me into trouble. As with many things, I guess balance and gentleness are key. Very unsettling. Pristiq tapered over 8 months ending Spring 2011 after 18 years of polydrugging that began w/Zoloft for fatigue/general malaise (not mood). CURRENT: 1mg Klonopin qhs (SSRI bruxism), 75mg trazodone qhs, various hormonesLitigation for 11 years for Work-related injury, settled 2004. Involuntary medical retirement in 2001 (age 39). 2012 - brain MRI showing diffuse, chronic cerebrovascular damage/demyelination possibly vasculitis/cerebritis. It reminds me of when, years ago, I was in England and driving in car with a stick shift (and working the stick with left hand), on the right side of the car, on the left side of the road, and going clockwise in a "roundabout" rather than how we do it United States. Disorienting! Thank you thank you for such good clarification.
