We will then collate these and include a summary and/or individual responses in our submission to the BMA.You may submit anonymously; if you do supply your name we will not use it as part of our contribution to the BMA. However please supply your country of residence and email in case we want to get in touch with you. We cannot guarantee to include all of the submissions made to us.Note that you do not have to reside in the UK in order to contribute. We would also like to be able to use your responses anonymously in other areas of CEP’s work and research; please let us know if you are happy for us to do this. This is an important opportunity to contribute to a prestigious review of the problems associated with these drugs and we are very grateful for your input. The survey is online and can be accessed at the following link:https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/L8M7CPM This is not medical advice. GiaK
We desperately need to seed the medical establishment with the indisputable facts about what have happened to us as a result of taking psychiatric drugs. Please help The Council for Evidence-based Psychiatry with this data collection. I received an email with the below information today. The Council for Evidence-based Psychiatry has been invited to contribute evidence to a project at the BMA (British Medical Association) which will review the issues associated with dependence upon prescribed drugs, including benzodiazepines, sleeping pills, pain relievers and antidepressants. The BMA has allowed us to solicit individual contributions as part of this evidence, to include submissions from abroad. We have therefore set up an online survey to gather this. I’d therefore be very grateful if you could promote this survey to your communities and service users, and otherwise tweet and/or post on Facebook. The direct link to the survey is RIGHT HERE Thank you! Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted April 4, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted April 4, 2014 I just filled in this survey and hope others will too. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one. My Introduction Thread Full Drug and Withdrawal History Brief Summary Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects 2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010 Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal) May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins. Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens. Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days. April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close. VIDEO: Where did the chemical imbalance theory come from? GiaK
I'm in touch with one of the founders of CEP who is a friend of mine... he says so far about 250 people have filled it out and they're trying to figure out now how to parse the data... I'll try to keep you all apprised as I hear anything. Everything Matters: Beyond Meds https://beyondmeds.com/ withdrawn from a cocktail of 6 psychiatric drugs that included every class of psych drug. Moderator Emeritus mammaP Posted April 5, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted April 5, 2014 Shared with friends. This is a huge step in the right direction. In the UK there is currently a drive to get disabled back to work and they are discovering just how many are disabled with mental illness. This may change the prescribing practices when they realise that it is the drugs that are disabling people rather than the illness they were prescribed for. **I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.
