Question for the group:

I am wondering if there is a way that I can use my specialized knowledge in the area of psychiatric prescriptions and patent medicine folly in general for my own professional gain. Since I have suffered greatly including financially in learning so mcuch of the inner workings of patent medicine one way to look at the situation is an extreme university which has dishes out expensive high-stakes life lessons for me.

I may discover opportunities for investment in companies that make products related to psychiatry and be able to personally profit from the rise or fall in their stock prices. I can think of other ways also to use the understanding of the market besides stock investing. For instance I could have a career in alternative counseling or write a book or a hundred other things.

However part of me feels uneasy about having anything to do with psychiatry or drugs or health and I think I should run far away from this thing partly because I don't want to profit from an unseemly undertaking which is what patent-remedy psychiatric treatment is, in fact. But on the other hand, I am right now very dependent on my family for my well being and I have no real skills or training and I know more about the meds than most other things. I think being financial self sufficient is important and I have paid my dues, believe me, in acquiring this understanding so if an opportunity to take a negative and turn it into a positive presents itself, it is a good idea to take it.

Lastly, I foresee that new therapies will replace teh ADs for the treatment of depression and it may be possible to invest in these and make money. However it is possible (likely) that the new therapies will not actually work and will (likely) cause harm just like the old patented therapies. That said, the price of the stocks will still rise. Am I winning the some battle of ethics by abstaining from an investment that is likely to rise, and will rise whether or not I take part, but that is based on some insane patented trickery that will only make people sick in the long run? Is it unethical to buy stock in Budweiser? Harrah's casino? Coca Cola? Monsanto?

This is only theoretical, I don't have any specific ideas or ways or means but I am thinking in what-ifs this mornign

"Well my ship's been split to splinters and it's sinking fast
I'm drowning in the poison, got no future, got no past
But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free
I've got nothing but affection for all those who sailed with me.

Everybody's moving, if they ain't already there
Everybody's got to move somewhere
Stick with me baby, stick with me anyhow
Things should start to get interesting right about now."

alexjice,

To paraphrase a business talk show host that I listened to many years ago - Essentially he said he had no problems taking adverstising money from mutual fund companies he considered to be unethical because he simply used his radio show to advise people not to buy them.   I would follow his advice as it pertains to your situation.

I had the same thoughts many times, I wrote a lot on some Dutch fora and was also quoted by the authors of a recent article about tapering off AD's using special tapering strips. Many poeple mail me for advice and I know I have  more knowledge about is than anyone here in the Netherlands.

But counceling is difficult because I have no medical degree and therefore not allowed to give medical advice.  I can of course give advice using the internet on a free base, just liek other support sites, but making a living out of it is not really possible I tihnk.

Or you must write  abook about it an hope it become a best seller!  But there are already many good books about the subject from dr. Healy, dr. Breggin. Bob Fiddaman etc. , but although well known in our communitiy, those books are not really bestsellers AFAIK.

Only someone like David Healy, who was already a professor of psychiatry, can prbably make a living from it by writing books, articles and having a practice.

10 mg Paxil/Seroxat since 2002
several attempts to quit since 2004
Quit c/t again Oktober 2007, in protracted w/d since then
after 3.5 years slight improvement but still on the road

after 6 years pretty much recovered but still some nasty residual sypmtons
after 8.5 years working again on a 90% base and basically functioning normally again!

I am overwhelmed with how dysfunctional the medical system is currently. It is literally insane. If a person wants to be a doctor they can either be a surgeon or they dispense inorganic little pills. How bizarre is this? And furthermore the license system imperils a person's freedom if they try to compete by selling advice or medical treatment without a license. It's literally insane. To provide health the requirement is the dispensing of dangerous chemicals or risk fines, imprisonment and so on. Of course it all makes sense also in the larger picture because the remedies recommended by natural healers require changes in diet that are not possible at all for everyone because of money to a degree but literally more because if you take away the GMO and hybridized food, there is not near enough food for everyone living.

I think someday the whole thing will collapse but until that point it will only continue to fester which is why I have thought I will have to go with the tide until it reaches the turning point. Smashing myself against the wall of reality has not been a successful strategy to date.

I am considering maybe taking nutrition classes or doing a clinical nutrition program, which is more like a chiro deal.

I find it really difficult at times to see this information because other people are very argumentative without having all the facts. For instance I am quite 100% sure that nobody needs antidepressant medication. I know some people think they do and some are helped for a while however they don't need them and if they knew what was really wrong with them, they could actually solve their problem. Understanding this knowledge makes it hard to communicate with people who are living in the Matrix because the normal people can not even begin to evaluate what I am saying at all, and getting out the Matrix is no picnic and then you can't really talk with the people inside it anymore and I am stuck talking with people at indie pharmacies, farmers market, chinese doctors office, AA meetings, church, ron paul events, Alex Jones, natural news ... these people are all great but are somewhat outside the mainstream, even churches (if they are really churches in doctrine) I am sad to say... According to the Matrix everything is going well. Sickness is health! Black is white! And so on.

Speaking of, these commercials are seriously sickening and are emblamtic of the type of weirdness the whole world is descending into where there is no normal and parasitic infection and disease is literally celebrated as a good thing, an addition to the cultural diversity. How very bizzarre!

" if you take away the GMO and hybridized food, there is not near enough food for everyone living."

I guess we know who can afford to buy and eat the decent food... all those who made money off of the drugs perhaps.

Guess if we are being managed like a lot of animals control of diet is an important aspect. It sure feel like we are being managed some days.

If we were to take a solid look at how corporate framing has evolved and how the animals are treated you could draw some parallels to human being and animals...

over crowding to save space

fed drugs on an experimental basis

the lack of consciousness about the issues we actually are speaking about and how we are managed...

reminds me of this

http://www.upworthy.com/no-one-applauds-this-woman-because-theyre-too-creeped-out-at-themselves-to-put-their-hands-together?c=click

I guess if you want to survive you buy in... and hope you money is a layer of protection against what you know is wrong...for a time.  The amount of money you could make and the power you could take on based on investing in these things you deem against your grain would depend on how much money you managed to hold onto...

if you like I had a financial collapse along with the rest in withdrawal.. that is not practical...I have nothing left to invest.

It is not as if this is one small area of business it is huge rich and powerful....and diversified.

The more I think about it the folks in the back of  Whitakers book may be playing the only hand left to them... stay away from psychiatry and heal as much as possible.

It may depend in a large part in how well you heal how much life you have left when you heal... your financial backing be it yours or you parents ect... for some of us this ship sailed the future is bleak.

Should there ever be an organized healing system put into place where you knowledge would be an asset you can be sure they will never ask you or care what you have learned other than to rape what knowledge you have to turn it into a profitable system they can bilk ...it will be run by puppets they can control... as I don't see the power mongers giving up their power not ever.

Does that mean moving to the woods and living with sasquach... maybe it does.

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Health coach?

1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to mania 6/2006--then I was taken abruptly off Cymbalta and didn't know I had SSRI withdrawal. Lots of meds for my intractable "bipolar" symptoms.

Zyprexa started about 9/06, mostly 5mg. Tapered 4/12 through12/29/12

Wellbutrin. XL 300 mg started 1/07, tapered 1/18/13 through 7/8/13

Oxazepam mostly continuously since 6/06, 30mg since 12/12, tapered 1.17.14 through 8.26.15

11/06 Lithium 600mg twice daily, 2.2.14 400mg TID DIY liquid, 2.12.14 1150mg, 3.2.14 1100mg, 3.18.14 1075mg, 4/14 updose to 1100mg, 6.1.14 900 mg capsules 7.8.14 810mg, 8.17.14 725mg, 8.24.24 700mg...10.22.14 487.5mg, 3.9.15 475mg, 4.1.15 462.5mg 4.21.15 450mg 8.11.15 375mg, 11.28.15 362.5mg, back to 375mg four days later, 3.4.16 updose to 475 (too much going on to risk trouble)

9/4/13 Toprol-XL 25mg daily for sudden hypertension, tapered 11.12.13 through 5.3.14, last 10 days or so switched to atenolol

7.4.14 Started Walsh Protocol
