As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking. btdt Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 I don't recall how I first hear of Terrance Young. Maybe on the news or a withdrawal site as in my desperate early days I did not do much else seek hope on sites and a cure... yep I thought for a long time there might be a cure and I was going to find it ...IF it were known. I read the book Terrance wrote "Death by Prescription" It was a heart breaking read especially in early withdrawal when everything around me was tainted by negativity and a grim shade. It brought home a couple of facts for me. For one anybody can get caught up in this drug problem it is not respecter of persons... it does not have to be a psych drug and you do not have to have a psych problem to get a psych drug. It does not matter how smart you are or your class... however the lower you are on wage/power scale the more likely it is your rights are taken away and your drugged as a way to control you. I say this with old people and foster kids in mind but am sure I could add jail as I have heard there are a lot of psych drugs in jail... the sad and horrific story of Ashely Smith here in Canada comes to mind but I can get off track easily by such emotional content and will struggle now to come back on course. In this book I learned that Terrance's brother was a doctor and even with that in their favour his child still died and he was still behind the curtain and could not get to the truth of the matter without tireless work and driven attitude... and a lot of help. So what chance do we have those of use who are damaged in our thinking abilities with bodies struggling to heal... we are not well equipped to do this work and yet we must as who else could tell the truth of it but those of us who have lived it. When I found him on many different sites I read I knew he was digging to find the truth I knew he was on our side and then he showed up in theSara Carlin case... giving testimony and I knew he was getting an education in paxil effects..or side effects however you see it. In his book he interviews some off the record folks those interviews I found most interesting. I don't know how far he can get but I am glad he is doing this work he gave me hope. peace all. ps there is this little part in my brain that hopes I have this right as i can't always trust my brain to recall things correctly amazingly enough it seems to come thru in the crunch especially on this topic... I can't figure that out..I can still get lost but recall what I read in a book on this topic years ago... odd. peace WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG Had a car accident in 85 Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89 Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations.
