You have come so far, and you will get there! Sorry your back is hurting again. Praying you can get some relief soon.

Thank you!! I did get some relief from the chiro. He said it wasn't bad at all!! So, I only have to go a few more times and then once a month. Yes, I look back over logs of symptoms I have and there has been progress. There is reason for hope.

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

Yes, my handwritten journal is what tells the story. Sometimes it is rather disappointing, but other times, I can see some progress has been made.

I don't know if I am in a wave or what is happening, but I don't know how to tolerate my living situation. I don't know if it is neuro-emotion or not. But, I'm living with the person who caused me a lot of pain. And I don't know how I can do this. Our relationship is not healthy and never has been and I don't know how to do this.

So sorry you're going through this, JDM. I don't know what your situation is. I do know my emotions swing wildly back and forth right now. Things that normally wouldn't bother me send me over the edge and vice versa. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Can you isolate as much as possible?  I'm sure you are doing that.  But just knowing you're in the same house is I'm sure, really unsettling .  I am not in the exact same place, but I am in an internal place of torture that I have absolutely no idea how to live through.  I spend all day every day asking God to show me how to live through this, if there is something I should be doing to help get through this, asking for His thots and not my own.  We need His power and His wisdom on how to get through this.  I know that you will get through this and am so praying that you will hear from God on how to deal with your mother.  He knows both of you intimately and I know that He can show you what to do.  (((Hugs)) and love to you.

What??? Your tooth broke???

Why did he have to check it six times...? Has it bothered you for a long while?

I outside stuff, like sickness etc. tooth thing is prob WD. The back pain wasn't. I actually hurt myself getting into bed. It wasn't just sporadic. But it's better!

:)

We doctors and I have been dancing around this tooth thing for a year.. one was pulled in June by a specialist my dentist does not pull teeth... at the time the specialist said three teeth in a row all with root canals crap shoot which was causing the problem.. one had a lump over the gun actually 2 did... but he picked the one that had broken and been fixed with the sore lump over the others and pulled it... going to my profile in June should show all that but who wants to.

Last wk or so my ear has been hurting and I have to lay down on heat and let it drain.. I suck out the fluid with a baby sucky thing... can't think of the name of it. I Finally thought it is that Fing tooth again and wanted him to pull it and the one beside it really I am sick of those teeth they do not hurt due to root canals but so many infections and crap just fed up with them....but he wouldn't.

Odd that it went down like it did tho... I was flossing and the floss got stuck on the tooth like it always has dentist knew that too... said not big deal... I have been to the specialist I have been to a major hosp and had xrays there then a mri on the jaw showed a bone spur and nothing on the tooth... that big shot dental hosp doc said even an mri would not show a small crack in a tooth... I said that to the dentist yesterday ... was it yesterday... I am not sure time warp.

he said ya I read the report ...I don't recall giving it to him .. maybe the doc sent it to him.. but whatever... I still have the tooth. I hope this fixes it. Before the tooth was pulled last June I had been there repeatedly as my face hurt... I keep getting infections... my doc send me to the dentist my dentist says it is sinus it was constant all last year... and I might add years before ... since I quit effexor have been just as bad... it is an ongoing thing.. constant teeth problems .. so many root canals ...

all 3 of those teeth in question now have had root canals since I quit effexor... I am not kidding there is a connection... old pp searches on teeth would have shown that.

Can't search it now... but they were there lots of teeth issues for a lot of people do I recall any connection to the drugs... I can't recall what day it is right now ... so no I don't recall if one was ever found or not.

It has been a pretty constant issue since quitting ... worse last year than now.

This is the same thing that happened last year tho... a tooth broke he fixed it things went down hill from there. I react to freezing now... so that is an issue too.. crap it just seems to be one thing piled on another. Bad enough to have bad thoughts about dental work it is not pleasant but add to that fear of freezing reactions ... it sucks.

I think it's all from dry mouth and grinding teeth when we are sleep because of WD.

I think it is more than that as these drugs affect our bones too... but lots of time to worry about that later.

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

I don't think I can live with my mom much longer. I love her, but she is a sick person.

And I have nowhere to go.

I have nowhere to go either and so when I felt that way... I went out if I could... in my car if your back is up to it take a drive... go to the library... read a book.. if you can or look at pictures of art in art books whatever you like if you can...

Have long baths put on head phones to tune people out when they annoy you or simply go to bed and lock the door.

There are times I know it is them getting on my nerves but there have been times it has all been me...too.  Neuro emotions are real... tend to come when your in a wave ...I could hate people I really love when I was in wave and once it passed look back and think that was crazy... but when your in it ... when I was in it if somebody had told me that... I would want to punch them in the face....

I hope you don't want to punch me in the face but if you do really it is ok and to be expected really.  I know how unhinged this sounds and feels yet it is the reality of the situation... and I have 20/20 just now...

not saying I will keep this 20/20 but just now I can see it .. and expect that too.

Once a wave passes you can see it all... then another wave comes and you go blind again... it is like you lost all the inside knowledge you picked last window ... it goes out the window when the next wave comes.

That is when it is good to talk to others who get this as it helps  you to recall it.

wishing you peace hoping it helped to talk about it.

peace JD

Yes!!! You've nailed it. Three months ago I was wailing about how much I loved my parents and how I felt that I was wasting precious years being sick. Now, I'm ready to throw something at her. I believe this is a wave. But, it feels real. And it feels like every ounce of perspective Inhave gained flies away when I get like this. I'm irrational.

Lol.. I think we're all goofy right now! Prayers!

(Retired)

Cinderella! Hahaha

2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare!

On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect.

Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan.

Nightmare that could have been avoided!

Hi JD. Sorry to hear that your home life is lousy right now, but glad you came here to talk about it. Withdrawal can make ordinary life seem unbearable just as meds can make a miserable life seem wonderful (speed does that). The big picture is that you have a place to live and are no longer on anti-depressants, beginning the journey to health. It is out there. We just have to get through this a day at a time.

2009: Cancer hospital said I had adjustment disorder because I thought they were doing it wrong. Their headshrinker prescribed Effexor, and my life set on a new course. I didn't know what was ahead, like a passenger on Disneyland's Matterhorn, smiling and waving as it climbs...clink, clink, clink.

2010: Post surgical accidental Effexor discontinuation by nurses, masked by intravenous Dilaudid. (The car is balanced at the top of the track.) I get home, pop a Vicodin, and ...

Whooosh...down, down, down, down, down...goes the trajectory of my life, up goes my mood and tendency to think everything is a good idea.
2012: After the bipolar jig was up, now a walking bag of unrelated symptoms, I went crazy on Daytrana (the Ritalin skin patch by Noven), because ADHD was a perfect fit for a bag of unrelated symptoms. I was prescribed Effexor for the nervousness of it, and things got neurological. An EEG showed enough activity to warrant an epilepsy diagnosis rather than non-epileptic ("psychogenic") seizures.

:o 2013-2014: Quit everything and got worse. I probably went through DAWS: dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome. I drank to not feel, but I felt a lot: dread, fear, regret, grief: an utter sense of total loss of everything worth breathing about, for almost two years.

I was not suicidal but I wanted to be dead, at least dead to the experience of my own brain and body.

2015: I  began to recover after adding virgin coconut oil and organic grass-fed fed butter to a cup of instant coffee in the morning.

I did it hoping for mental acuity and better memory. After ten days of that, I was much better, mood-wise. Approximately neutral.

And, I experienced drowsiness. I could sleep. Not exactly happy, I did 30 days on Wellbutrin, because it had done me no harm in the past.

I don't have the DAWS mood or state of mind. It never feel like doing anything if it means standing up.

In fact, I don't especially like moving. I'm a brain with a beanbag body.

I have not seen ONE person on this forum with the food sensitivities I have. NOT ONE!!!! God help me!

The reason would be this site was not here in 2008 when I started this process.  I could eat no food in the beginning I have seen others with the same thing when I was at pp.  I could keep no food down for good while ... delayed wd hit at 6 wks.. I had the flu like stuff... could keep not food down for along time I lived on ensure and water and baby electrolyte drinks.

Later I moved up to broth and boiled veggies carrot first.. potato

Toast was a big deal when I could eat toast.

After I could eat some foods I still reacted to thing I had been fine with before wd...walnuts .can't recall what symptoms were for them.. watermelon was wild as I recall I felt dizzy and sick.  Further along after that even I started to react to  any food I would eat I would get so tired I would have to sleep every time I ate any foods.  I was checked for sugar then just to be safe but it was ok.

There have been different things all through this with digestion I can't seem to quite figure it out. I do keep trying.  I will say I had a lot of waves that were good.

I hope that helps you not feel completely alone in this. I am curious tho as I can't believe there are not other people with food issues here just you and I... bet there are more. I did a search...

here is a link to food reactions on this site

I'm wiling to bet it happens to others, but maybe they have not recognized consciously that it's the food.

*I'm not a doctor and don't give medical advice, just personal experience
**Off all meds since Nov. 2014. Mentally & emotionally recovered; physically not
-Dual cold turkeys off TCA & Ativan in Oct 2014. Prescribed from 2011-2014

-All meds were Rxed off-label for an autoimmune illness.  It was a MISDIAGNOSIS, but I did not find out until AFTER meds caused damage.  All med tapers/cold turkeys directed by doctors

-Nortriptyline May 2012 - Dec 2013. Cold turkey off nortrip & cold switched to desipramine

-Desipramine Jan 2014 - Oct. 29, 2014 (rapid taper/cold turkey)

-Lorazepam 1 mg per night during 2011
-Lorazepam 1 mg per month in 2012 (or less)

-Lorazepam on & off, Dec 2013 through Aug 2014. Didn't exceed 3x a week

-Lorazepam again in Oct. 2014 to help get off of desipramine. Last dose lzpam was 1 mg, Nov. 2, 2014. Immediate paradoxical reactions to benzos after stopping TCAs

-First muscle/dystonia side effects started on nortriptyline, but docs too stupid to figure it out. On desipramine, muscle tremors & rigidity worsened

-Two weeks after I got off all meds, I developed full-blown TD.  Tardive dystonia, dyskinesia, myoclonic jerks ALL over body, ribcage wiggles, facial tics, twitching tongue & fingers, tremors/twitches of arms, legs, cognitive impairment, throat muscles semi-paralyzed & unable to swallow solid food, brain zaps, ears ring, dizzy, everything looks too far away, insomnia, numbness & electric shocks everywhere when I try to fall asleep, jerk awake from sleep with big, gasping breaths, wake with terrors & tremors, severely depressed.  NO HISTORY OF DEPRESSION, EVER. Meds CREATED it.

-Month 7: hair falling out; no vision improvement; still tardive dystonia; facial & tongue tics returned
-Month 8: back to acute, incl. Grand Mal seizure-like episodes. New mental torment, PGAD, worse insomnia
-Month 9: tardive dystonia worse, dyskinesia returned. Unable to breathe well due to dystonia in stomach, chest, throat
-Month 13: Back to acute, brain zaps back, developed eczema & stomach problems. Left leg no longer works right due to dystonia, meaning both legs now damaged
-7 years off: Huge improvements, incl. improved dystonia

So sorry you feel disheartened JDM. You are a brave woman and you are not alone. I can only eat about 20 foods and only 3 bites at a time. I am nauseous all the time and am filled with anxiety or depression every time I put something in my stomach. And that's the UPSIDE. I consider it a good few bites if I don't immediately feel like a donkey kicked me in my gut. I look like a corpse with weeping willow skin sagging from the bones. Definitely not dating material.
