nz11 Posted January 5, 2015 Share Posted January 5, 2015 A leading UK Mental Health Charity ‘Mind’ carried out a survey and discovered, based on interviews with more than 200 recent psychiatric drug users – that 70% had felt pressured to take the medication and 60% experienced problems coming off it. This rose to 68% among users of the SSRI group of antidepressants such as paroxetine. Further independent studies by Glenmullen, “In studies involving hundreds of patients, 66 percent of patients stopping paroxetine have withdrawal reactions.” Mind and Glenmullan have studiied hundreds and got almost identical results with approx 66-68% suffering wdl and the above studied thousands and got none suffering wdl just relapse....give me a break! Further Gotzsche’s research has established that people get as hooked on SSRIs as they do on benzodiazepines, and 37 of 42 withdrawal symptoms were the same for SSRIs as for benzodiazepines. In addition , An independent study done on Paroxetine in August 2005 caused a Media Storm at the time because it demonstrated that Paroxetine is linked with up to a 7 fold increase in suicide compared to a placebo (sugar pill). The data was available even before Paroxetine was first licensed in 1990, as found by the Norwegian researchers led by Ivar Aursnes. The results were published in the journal BMC Medicine and concluded: “The increased suicidal activity seen in children and adolescents on certain antidepressant drugs may well be present in adults. The restrictions in the use of paroxetine in children and adolescents conveyed by regulatory agencies lately should include usage in adults. “The mental health charity Mind said the results were “extremely worrying” and confirmed what it had been arguing for years. Sophie Corlett, director of policy at the mental health charity Mind, said: “This study would seem to be an extremely worrying addition to growing evidence raising serious concerns over the safety of paroxetine. “It confirms what Mind service users have long been telling us anecdotally.” Campaigners, including Mind, say the drug should be withdrawn from sale. Tapered March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads. Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013 Restarted taper Nov 2013 OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015 Tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014 Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg July 2017 30mg. May 15 2018 25mg Taking fish oil, magnesium, B12, folic acid, bilberry eyebright for eye pressure.
