delstar life after effexor

Recommended Posts

I am currently month 3 free from effexor, I  gradually tappered beads over 1 month and then went cold turkey. Nausea, panic, brain zaps, crying spells that lasted for hours, I literally felt as though I had fallen into the depths of hell and would never get out. Thankfully I had the will to go on and endure these horrible withdrawals to be finally free of AD.

I feel a totally different person off effexor, it's strange to have extreme emotions and trying to get to know a me that has been hidden for 13 years. I have a loving husband and two teenage children who lived with a living zombie and I am ashamed of what I was.

Dealing with the different emotions has been hard and problems that were suppressed being on drugs have come back for me to finally deal with and heal. I tell my husband it feels like a deck of cards all being delt out at once and it can be over whealming.

There are days where I feel great and days where I am very low, I am fearful of how long these withdrawals will last and if I will ever recover totally.

I have been taking B supplements and Krill oil which I think is helping as well as meditation and I do lots of google, lol, I am so hungry for information on anything and everything.

I wish everyone the best who is experiencing withdrawal......here's to a road of recovery. :)

Welcome, delstar.

Congratulations that you are recovering from a fast taper. What is your current symptom pattern?

I've moved your post here, to start your Introductions topic, where you can track your progress.

I am looking for stories just like yours--I really want to kick the ADs but have been on them so long (20 years) that it's all pretty terrifying.

Anti-depressant free as of October 2015

therapy/counseling including EMDR January 2016-February 2017

Took Wellbutrin only after several years of Effexor plus Wellbutrin.
discontinued Effexor on 4/25/15 against doctor's orders.
Experienced brain zaps, dizziness, and insomnia. Super woman energy. Major grief and rages.
Started antidepressants about 20 years ago. Have been on celexa, Zoloft, Effexor, Wellbutrin.
Really want to get off meds but don't know if I can. Not much support for this goal from physician or family.
