csm2014
I'm sure this has been raised a million times elsewhere (as it is the most basic integral part of tapering to know), but am just wanting to confirm that the active ingredient (in this case clonazepam) is evenly distributed throughout the tablet so when we taper, we are tapering knowing the exact amount. The local pharmacist confirmed it was, but when I called the idiot mfg., they couldn't confirm. MEDS SUMMARY: 1) Valium: 10mg avg prn from 09-06-14 to 10-20-142) Xanax: 0.75mg avg prn from from 09-19-14 to 10-16-143) Lexapro: 5mg q.d. from 10-06-14 to 10-16-144) switched immediately to Clonazepam: 0.5mg average/day for 2 weeks (10-17-24-10-30-14); titrated to 1mg (0.5mg bid) on 10-31-14 to present; started microtaper @ .625% (.0031250mg x 2) from 08-09-15 to 08-15-15; .800% (.0038750mg x 2) from 08-16-15 to present; destabilized 08-19-15 (due to change from original tablet); reinstated, on day 54, and have tapered a total of 14% as of 09-30-15 with zero symptoms (knock on wood)!5) Lamictal: 100mg q.d. from 10-23-14 to 12-04-14; started tapering 12-05-14, 25mg every 2 weeks; destabilized 01-15-14; reinstated 01-22-15 at 25mg q.d. from 01-24-15 to 02-19-15; cut approx. 3-4mg every 5-10 days until 03-22-15, then cut 2mg every 5-6 days until 05-12-15; holding at 4mg q.d. from 05-13-15 to present.Detailed Analysis - Lamictal history: https://app.box.com/s/rnermghleue9aemyhd57l1a00gsk2i4u 6) Also taking meds for blood pressure (Coreg @ 6.25mg b.i.d. and Losartan @ 50mg b.i.d.) + for blood clot I had back in 2012 (Xarelto @ 10mg) + for hypothyroidism (Armour Thyroid @ 1grain q.d.) csm2014
There are binders in any tablet, so it's unclear what you mean by "even distribution." Meaning that the active ingredient is evenly distributed/disbursed (mixed) with the fillers so that when we cut, we know we're cutting a percentage of the active ingredient and not just the worthless fillers. In other words, that, for example, the 1mg of active drug isn't stuck in one section of a 200mg (total weight) tablet. I'm sure this is not the case, otherwise, no one would be able to taper off any med successfully unless they mixed the entire tablet up to get uniformity. Just wanted to get others' opinions. Administrator Altostrata Posted May 12, 2015 Administrator Share Posted May 12, 2015 Hard to tell, as "even distribution" would depend on the manufacturing process and what the manufacturer thinks is acceptable quality. Unless the tablet is scored, the manufacturer assumes the entire tablet will be ingested, so there is no reason to assure extremely "even distribution." This is one of the reasons tapering by using a liquid is more precise. This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner. aberdeen
I cant get liquid paxil here so what i do is grind a bunch of tablets together (between two spoons) and keep the powder all mixed together. I weigh the powder in my scale. Ive gone from 20mg to 1.1mg so far like this and while Ive had symptoms, none are even close to the symptoms i had when tapering Effexor much too fast. It seems to work out. 2 Timothy 1-7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Effexor 75mg to 262.5mg 2005-2010 for post partum depression Started having poop out mid 2010, also switched generic brands, then crashed in Dec 2010 (anxiety/ "terror", intense DR, anhedonia, suicidal ideation, chills, insomnia, horrible intrusive thoughts, disorientation, ect)Rapid "tapered" from 262.5mg Effexor in 3 months Tried Celexa,Cipralex, then Paxil to deal with wd(this switching made things worse and added akathesia) Found online support and started tapering Paxil 7 months after quitting Effexor (at this point was having small windows). Paxil taper: dropped 10% every 4-8 weeks Year 1 October 2011 to Nov 2012 20mg to 10mg Year 2 March 2013 to Feb 2014 10mg to 4mg Year 3 April 2014 to May 2015 4mg to 1.1mg Year 4 June 2015 1.1mg , dropping by 10% until .5mg, after then dropped by 0.1mg every 5 weeks until 0.1mg. Finished! Official last dose of 0.1mg on June 15/
